The river is below normal flows and has been a while now. It has been fishing really well lately on my guide trips with Pats rubber leg stones and size 10 prince nymphs drifted deep doing particularly well. Marabou jigs have done well too. Just got back from electro-fishing with the MDC, they will be back at it on Thursday as well. That could adversely effect the fishing for a few days after the shocking. Plenty of in there though.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of using our services on Wed. Sept. 8. We will be closed in order that we may have an employee appreciation float trip. After a summer of watching everyone else have fun floating the river, I decided the staff needed a chance to have some fun as well.

They were back out last night in pretty good numbers, though I saw no rises and never switched over to give it a try as a result. caught plenty fishing deep though.

Our hexagenia patterns come from Pacific fly group. Their hexagenia nymph, Cripple-hex, BMAR Ultimate Hex and their Hex spinner. We also use stimulators with a yellow belly. As for if you will get dry fly action, I don't know. Like I said before, even when the hatch is good, getting regular rises is ify here, but not completely unheard of either with this particular hatch. If the hatch is fading earlier this year as the last few days have, then it will be even tougher. If it comes back, then it may be possible. They come out after 6:30pm when they come do make an appearance. That being said, all the normal big flies bounced along the bottom are working. This has also been a big year for the prince nymph on the Eleven Point (size 12 has done well for me).

I have noticed in the last couple of days that the hatch has slowed down. Wonder if it is just a slow down and it will pick back up or if it is going to be a weaker hatch this year. Either way, the fishing has been pretty solid.

Max They should still be around when you are here, but catching them on a dry is never a sure thing. In the evening you might give it a try up at the bridge. There is a descent hatch there.

We have a hex hatch and it does get attention from the fish, but it is not near as thick as the ones up in Michigan or places like that.

Hexes on the Eleven Point are no secret. I am hoping for a better than average hatch this year, but time will tell.

Got out yesterday evening and did some fishing on my own. I've been seeing a few hexes lately (a bit early this year) so I started with a prince nymph with a hex nymph dropper. Caught about a dozen over an hour with about the same amount on each. About 7pm I started to see the hexes in the air and threw on the dry version after spying 2 different rises. I only had one rise to my hex and I missed it. Only saw about 4 rises total, but since the dry fly opportunities are so rare here, I had to give it a shot. I'm thinking if conditions remain the same as the hatch gets bigger in the coming weeks, we may get a few on top before it is all said and done. Though there is never a sure thing when it comes to dry fly fishing here. Fishing has been quite good lately for trout.

Been busy with lots of guide trips lately and the fishing has been pretty good using stoneflies, squirrel nymphs, prince nymphs and marabou jigs. Traffic has been heavy and we are sold out again this weekend. Fishing will only improve after school starts and the traffic slows down. The last couple of weeks have been crazy, by Eleven Point standards, with weekday traffic being high due to people rushing to get floats in before school starts. The fish need a little more rest from the pressure to recover. The fall outlook looks good. The water is lower than it has been in quite a while.

It can be done, but it is not normally productive. You rarely if ever see fish keying in on a specific hatch. You will see an occasional trout rise, often to a caddis. In sept in the evening if the hatch is big enough and the water clear enough, you can catch a few on hexes. You will catch tons more fish sub-surface though. You can easily go fishless even when fishing is good if you insist on fishing dries only though. There is too much food on the bottom there.

Fishing has been very good lately for trout.The usual suspects have been producing. Stoneflies, squirrel nymphs, crawdads, prince nymphs and egg patterns bounced along the bottom. Got out for about an hour last night and caught about 14 and the night before and got about 7 in an hour. The river has come through the recent rains fine and looks good. All 20 miles of trout water is fishing well.

You can fish weekends, though weekdays are better. Trout are fishing better than anything else now.

The Eleven Point is a prop eater, so be careful. From Cane Bluff to Riverton, you can camp just about anywhere. down stream from Riverton to 142 there is a lot more private land, but there are a couple of gravel bars and Morgan Spring (narrows) float camp, though it is very close to the 142 bridge. We do vehicle shuttles upstream of Riverton for $35 and downstream to Myrtle for $45. Goggle eye are 15 at 8 inches. Not much in the way of catfish.

Greer campground is not closed, nor will it be this year. Someone in Rolla put it on the web site even though the contract was canceled and the project delayed. Only about 3 campsites were used on Friday night.

They are redoing the water and adding a couple of RV hook-ups, which is well and good. I have suggested they wait until at least Sept to do it, but they will do it when the contractors get to it. No firm dates as of yet that I have heard.

Fulton...that is my home town. Rubber leg stoneflies, squirrel nymphs, big prince nymphs, eggs, white marabou jigs all worked well on yesterdays guide trip. they need to be bounced along the botom. Look for drop-offs where the water turns green. Also deeper green water with some current. The shoals fished well too.

Yeah, but the waitresses at the Huddle House in West Plains would love it!

Went out yesterday evening with my buddy John and fished a couple of hours. Fishing was good on brown stones and squirrel nymphs drifted along the bottom. No hogs, but plenty of 12-14 inchers caught and released. Nice evening.
