  1. Please dish away...I'll be down in September and am always looking for new places to try!!!
  2. Yup...spooned them for years. I've still got an old one in the bottom of grandpa's tackle box. Then he discovered the wonders of filleting, and that was that!
  3. Well that 'splains it!!!
  4. Psssst...H2O (or hydrogen dioxide) is WATER, not oxygen (O2)...
  5. All very good and accurate advise. But, I haven't been there since May 01. Minnows did well lindy rigged for walleyes and crappies drifted over humps. Caught a lot of small pike early on spinnerbaits.
  6. If you pick your spots carefully, there is some wading available...But not a lot...And be careful!!!
  7. I hear you brother! I just picked up a (barely) used W&J chestpack and I can't wait to give it a test run. It feels great and somehow lighter despite being crammed with almost all the stuff I had in my vest.
  8. I've got an Albright Bughatti on my 4wt and an Albright Topwater on my 3wt. Just about any small reel that strikes your fancy will work well!
  9. Great rods, especially for the great price!
  10. Would a drift sock work or would it collapse in the current?
  11. My new desktop, thanks! Great shot
  12. My friend and I were there last Tuesday afternoon (also got blown off the water at Taney) and did well in Zone 2 on the crackle back, brown San Juan worms, tan elk hair caddis and zebra midges. Your choice...All were producing. Nothing big, but several nice, healthy fish.
  13. I have, but I was a LOOOONG time ago...
  14. Red light helps preserve night vision. Your eyes adapt to dark quicker.
  15. If you don't get "waked" and swamped. I'd make sure to bring a sump pump...
  16. Sometimes I buy from BPS or Cabelas if it's a common pattern and I know what size and color I need. Usually I buy local when I'm in town and need the local hot pattern or I know something specific I want. I'm still working on they tying part of it...
  17. Some habitat improvements to make some more riffles (didn't there used to be more in the late 90's ?) would be nice because at normal flow there really aren't any other than above reabar. Putting the ouflow pipes from the outlets farther out or into a deep hole is a great idea! One thing that hasn't been addressed is bank erosion. With more boats on the water during moderate to full generation, it is something that needs to be looked at before it becomes a major problem...Just my .02 cents...
  18. Yep, we have trout in Indiana, mostly put and take stockers, but there is one small tailwater that has a semi resident population of browns and a few rainbows (Brookville), and of course, Lake Michigan tributaries. As far as secrets go...Go to Tanney and use olive soft hackles...There's my secret!

    BBQ

Another vote for Danna's, great burgers, onion rings and BBQ. The wife and I ate at Shorty's and we thought it was pretty good.
  20. The wife and I were there 21-28 September and the fishing was great. I caught more fish this trip than I ever have(all bows except for one small brown).99% come on an olive soft hackle which is nice since I had always nymphed before. The nymphing seemed very slow to me, so I only did it Saturday morning when there was no generation (BH Hares ear with a scud dropper). I went a few times in the evening and caught zip. (I even tried the outlet dance) Lots of fish, but what are they taking? The one evening I stayed past dark, they were still running a ton of water, so I went home. Had some good parking lot chats with folks and even helped a guy named Wayne fix his Ross reel that was locking up on him. (Thanks for the tips Wayne!) I can't wait to get back!
  21. I've been a long time browser and finally took the plunge to register. Thanks to Phil for having such a comprehensive site for my favorite area in the whole world and thanks to all of you for the good info, even if you didn't know you were giving it... Dave Pleus
