2000 Tracker 185 issues
sixstring531 replied to dennishoddy's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I have a 99 185 with the 75 and it wants to pull as well - but it never bothered me. I assume I can adjust the lower unit trim tab(? little adjustable fin above prop), but it runs like a champ and can do 40 loaded down with two adults. We also have a 21 stainless prop. -
It really depends on the wind and where you're at on the lake. When the wind blows out of the south at anything above 10, by the time it hits the dam area it can get pretty dicey in something that small. As has already been pointed out, there are plenty of coves you can duck into. I used to run around in a Tracker Pro 16 (25hp) and got caught in a nasty little storm near Highpoint; I've never seen inland lake whitecaps like that! One came over the whole left rear of the boat and gave the bilge a nice workout. We're now in an 18 1/2' and it's much better.

Any topwater in the evening?

Nice report! Sounds like Pomme, Stockton and TableRock are in the throws of pre, on and post spawn!

Staying on Indian Point next week - any suggestions?
sixstring531 replied to sixstring531's topic in Table Rock Lake
Bill, we're talking about the Keitech swimbaits, correct? Thanks gents! This is going to be fun. -
My wife and I are bringing the boat down next Monday through Friday and I'm curious if anyone has any good suggestions for fishing around the Indian Point portion of the lake. Obviously we can drive anywhere, but I'm pretty sure we won't be fishing all day like I normally do, so staying somewhat in the area may be preferred. It looks like the spawn is on and I'm thinking I'll rig her up with a ned/lizard/shaky head/menace and let her have at it on transition banks. Thanks again for any advice!

My buddy had a 50+ crappie day and tons of keeper whites out of Highpoint last weekend. I've fished with him there before and he really does stay in and around (easily within a mile ) of the Highpoint access.

Sounds like our day yesterday, Bill! The biggest bass we saw (3-4lb) was dead on the bottom just off the end of the dock at Mills Creek when we put in, in the morning. Water was crystal clear down to 20'+ in the morning. We tooled around the points there and picked up one 2.5lb smalley on a spinner head w/ a fluke jr. She was deeper, around the cedars. We fished the Kings and an arm up the Aunts and only picked up one more smallmouth on a senko about the same size as the first. Toward the end of the day we returned to some of the points across from the Mills launch and graphed fish around 35-45', dropped down the spinner head and grabbed a small kentucky, but couldn't get anything else to bite. We threw the kitchen sink at them yesterday, from every angle and they just weren't hungry. We caught the same temps: from 45-50

Then shoot me a price! (and a message)

I don't think Lakemaster (at least new LM) works with Lowrance. When I look at the WebApp for Navionics Premium (or + w/ premium) to view Stockton, it looks like there is quite a bit of information - but I guess it doesn't mean too much if it is incorrect. I also think I can use the InSight Genesis mapping (recorded as fishing) and integrate it with Navionics. Any other suggestions to look at?

While waiting for the mailman to bring a new Lowrance, I thought I should research the different mapping options available. Does anyone, or has anyone, used the Navionics maps on Stockton? If so, what do/did you like or not like? If you haven't, which mapping product do you use? Thanks! Rich

Looks like Gold and HotMaps Premium are my choices on the Elite 7 HDI (BP just threw em on sale again)

My father and I just purchased a newer Lowrance and are curious what Navionics cards work best around here. I'm trying to educate myself of the differences in Gold, +, Premium and Platinum, but I figured the natives may have a preference. Thanks in advance! Richie

We've had really good luck with the bullfrog color zara spook, black buzzbait and various poppers. I have a bullfrog colored Pop-R and then a larger blue/silver Bill Dance popper of somekind that has huge rattles in it. DRIVES EM NUTS!

For the person asking about length - I forgot how long it was, but you can probably gather a good guess with this pic: (my dad caught it - 7.5lb)
-
This doesn't really help with the Largemouth question, but I do believe both the previous and current smallmouth (as already mentioned) records come out of Stockton. The biggest smalley we've come up with is about 3.5lb with the largest bucketmouth being 7.5lb (last year).

We put in at Aunts Creek and ran around James River today. After a lengthy start - ok, so the starting battery was 10 years old and didn't hold a charge; good thing Wally World was 20 minutes away - I hit a well-fed kentucky on a blue McStick. Maybe the second cast. Fast foward a few hours and we have two more bass on an umbrella, one on a menace (of all things) and I get a nice walleye on the same McStick. We did the standard primary and secondary points/bluffs/chunky rock. We decided to work our way back home and made one final stop in a timbery cove with some docks. We started graphing some good fish (our graph is old and we catch fish whether they're showing or not) and I turn around and my dad starts hooking up. All the bass (kentucky and one smalley) were 25-50 fow and were quite feisty. They were definitely well-fed fish! So - we really didn't catch a huge number today, but it was definitely nice to get out and enjoy the water. Our fish came on: Blue McStick Umbrella with spinners and a combo white/silver swimmers menace, summer craw silver strata spoon

We put in at RB at sun up and came in when the sun was down. (10.8) We caught a good number of fish (35-40) but absolutely no keepers. We had largemouth, smallmouth, white, kentucky, sunfish and walleye. In fact, we've never caught that many walleye! Square bill cranks, a jointed Rapala, shakey heads and Rage Tail Menace caught everything. My dad and his guest are out right now near the dam and have been catching the 14"+ bass we're used to. One smalley went 2.5lbs and was caught with a square bill.

Thanks for the report. We're heading out on Wednesday and will probably do the same pattern.
-
Which part of the lake are we fishing, Dutch?
-
Ugly smallies? Yeah, we've caught a few darker ones as well. Here's my dad with a nice one. We're heading out tomorrow and Thursday.

We pulled close to 80 in the boat two weeks ago and not one fish looked like the pic. We did see some with little holes (obviously caught before) but nothing like the pic. I'll agree; it looks intentional and whoever is responsible needs to quit. The first thing that comes to mind is someone who finds bass a nuisance. It may also be something attributed to trolling. I really have no idea other than it needs to stop.
