Really not going to give any tips other than "they're biting good on minnows?" I'm a bass fisherman with small boys, who really can't fish the way I do for bass. I would love to find said crappie on Stockton (with minnows, of course). So, where would I look? Feel free to send me a message. If you ever need bass advice for the lake, I'd be more than happy to share what I know.

Left out of State Park in the early afternoon and fished till around 7. We didn't catch a huge number of fish, but the majority were keepers. Caught them on Rock Crawlers, spinner baits, and whacky-rigged senkos. The majority (of mine anyway) were on the whacky rigged. Best five would have been a little over 10 - so nothing huge but tons of fun. Sat morning we took my son out for a morning fish, again out of the State Park. We hung around the bridge the entire time. By far the best part was my 7 year old catching his first 'big' bass, which came on a whopper plopper. Pretty sure it was his second cast of the morning (though we'll say it was the first). You can't buy this smile: We also taught him how to hold it appropriately for the camera. We threw everything at them and the winner, again, was the whacky-rigged senko. I think we got a few on buzzbait as well, but the senko won out. Here's a 3+ from later in the day after the wind began to pick up As for the senko - I like to use the BPS 7" green pumpkin, put the rubberband slightly off center (more toward the short end), throw half a nail weight in the short end and dip the tail (long end) in chartreuse dye. I think the larger senko a bit off kilter has some really good action on the fall. This post has been promoted to an article

What kind of numbers are currently being caught?

Nice report! We fished Big M area all day as well and ended up with around 45 fish, with 15-16 being keepers. All came on SK Rage Tail Rage Bug (swing head, like the menace), whacky-rigged senko, shaky head, and a few on the ned We threw everything, but those were the only baits that got bit. It was a mix bag of largemouth, smallmouth and Kentucky. It was a beautiful day to be on the water!

We were out a little after 7 am to about 1 pm. I caught 6 LM and my buddy only had one! Caught the majority in/around chicken rock (chicken foot?) and one keeper over in Sons. Of the 6 I caught, two were keepers - but they were small - albeit, healthy. I missed a few, but all of mine came on a whacky rig 7" BPS senko-type bait. His came on a small in-line spinner. We also threw several spinners, cranks, a jerk and even a zarra spook in the early morning. Either they were waiting for the evening to feed, or they weren't there yesterday morning.

It was very clear. Great visibility.

We put in at CC at sun up and fished the morning up there. Caught 20+, all smallmouth with one Kentucky and maybe one of those was as keeper. Went into town for lunch and fished until 5 out of Mutton and in the Birch Branch area. I think we ended up with maybe 5 the whole afternoon, with one being a largemouth. It was HOT out on the water once the sun got up. I mean, make you really tired hot! I think the deepest fish came in 15-18, but the vast majority were from 1-15'. We caught them on black and white buzz baits, popper, whacky rigged senko, dropshot, rage tail menace, new maxscent power bug/creature (whatever it's called), jig and pig, Texas rigged worm, rage tail rage bug and spinner bait. So, basically we threw the kitchen sink and the lake gave up a few shorts! It was one of the tougher days on Stockton.

We probably landed 35-40 with 10 or so keeper bass one slab crappie on spinner bait. Most of ours were in shallow water with lizards and creature baits. Toward the middle of the day we backed off and hit some of the larger fish on cranks. If you wanted the bigger fish, I think Mr Scott (above) had the right idea. They definitely aren't "up" all over the lake and I expect this week and the next to be a little busier in the shallows. Shameless plug for a new one I tried this weekend: Rage Bug -- I fished it on a hinged head and it produced most of my fish.

I haven't confirmed, but I was told the storage facility on the road leading to Bolivar Landing (after turning off D) is now selling minnows.

We braved it from sun up to 3 pm, yesterday. It was windy, but the coves we were in shielded us enough to make it to the afternoon. 30+ bass with 10 keepers - largest closing in on 2.5-3lb. We were fishing 10' under on spawning banks, but the bucks didn't seem to be 100% committed yet and we weren't graphing anything deeper in these particular arms. Thirty seems like a lot, but we've had 70+ days this time of year. So, we either missed it or it hasn't happened yet. All fish were caught on spinner baits, cranks (original/vintage wart produced the most), rage tail menace, shaky head and jig. Surface temps were nearing 60 in the coves by the time we left.

Shhhhhhh! We don't need Stockton to turn into another over-fished tourney lake!

Well, he got to fish with a different pro (and outfished him) the second day!

My dad was a co-angler with the 3rd place pro (from Japan). Said they caught a fair amount of fish, but the guy never gave him any water, even casting toward the rear of the boat. I think my dad ended up with one keeper the first day and the pro ended with 13.5. They were in 1-3 fow the entire day and all fish came on a chartreuse square bill. He said it was pretty interesting, as the guy didn't speak any english, so it was a little quiet! He had a blast though!

This is a 1953 Colt Woodsman target model with a 6" barrel. It is a tack driver .22 target pistol! It was given to me many years ago and I'm told by a vintage gun shop (via my pics) it is in shooter grade - though I may put it a little higher than that. Regardless, it is a very nice gun! It comes with: Original Colt box Original Colt pamphlet Original Colt test pattern Original paper cloth Original - unused - extra rear (palm) grip in paper baggy Original Colt screwdriver tool Original magazine Leather holster (I don't know if it is original or not, but it is fit to the gun) The only knock on the gun is a number inscribed on the inside of the handle and bottom of the grip. My buddy can't remember what the numbers were for, but they're there and it is priced accordingly. Currently there is one under the glass at the Bass Pro boutique gun room for $1200. I'd like to get $650 or trade toward a larger caliber (10mm, 45acp, .357, .44) pistol. I am not interested in compact models and a longer slide is a plus. Thanks for looking! Rich

Trolling motor sold, now we need to get rid of the batteries.

Well, depending on where I measure, it could either be a 42 or 45. This Minn Kota site has it at 42 (https://www.trollingmotors.net/products/minn-kota-maxxum-55) but if I measure directly under the head to the motor it is closer to 45.

Pretty sure he was shallow. We caught a 7lb6ozer in the spring, but she was full. This guy (or gal) would easily tip 8 in the spring time.

I hunted yesterday and decided to stay in the office this morning instead of heading out to Stockton with my dad. I think I made the wrong decision! This is a 6lb4oz behemoth that hit a white spinner bait about half an hour ago. He said the large shad are stacking up in the backs of coves.

Basschomper - has anyone responded to this? Is there an estimate for the # of boats entering at this time? I'm just curious, as it's the opening day of rifle season. Thanks, sixstring531

Looks like you got some experts on it already. My immediate thought was fuel and/or gunked-up carbs.
