  1. I helped do some sand bagging in Parkville and Riverside in 93...They were pumping water out of the old down-town airport back then..if that goes North Kansas City goes.. Between FEMA and the Corps. way to many screw ups to be accidents-mismanagement-over site-what ever excuse...that is a diversional tactic to a new style of (eminant domain) on a grand scale...Then they run you through endless beaucratic hoops to rebuid.. Look at Joplin FEMA is complicating efforts of volunteers coming from all over the country. Government red tape is taking up time away from cleanup in exchange for permits and other permissions needed. The new Government Take-Over of farm land by blowing levees...
  2. I always cut the line and release the fish...And proof that the hook doesn't kill the fish is: I used to fish a small pond with yellow Stren well I re-caught a fish that had my line coming out of it's vent...
  3. Buzz I live 4 miles from the Odessa Lake and I have a very small (1/4 acre) pond that is over-run with blue gill. I thought a few 11'' bass would grow pretty good in their....But the wording is contradictory in the code book to me... The Odessa lake is over-run with small bass...A guy who used to fish it said the MDC shocked it and took a bunch of large bass out of it a few yrs. ago....He doesn't fish their any more...I see why...
  4. Straighten me out here...Odessa City Lake has posted a slot length of 12''-15'' and only 2 Bass. I assume in other words the bass must be over 15'' to keep right.... And then the MDC code says: 3 CSR 10-12.145 Fishing, Length Limits (1) Statewide length limits shall apply for all species, except as otherwise provided in this rule. (2) Black bass more than twelve inches (12") but less than fifteen inches (15") total length must be returned to the water unharmed immediately after being caught, except as follows: (A) Black bass less than fifteen inches (15") total length must be returned to the water unharmed immediately after being caught on the following lakes: 27. Odessa (Lake Venita) The posting at the lake seems vague on bass under 12'' I always thought no bass under 12'' could be kept anywhere in the state.... Why don't they post it like they do at Lone Jake Lake, over 15''--2 fish ( you can keep 2 bass over 15'') Sounds like some kind of entrapment mumbo-jumbo posted on the Odessa lake signs....
  5. Buzz I know the feeling. Any who have been through it can only know the feeling..... I was only 4 yrs. old when the 57 tornado hit Ruskin Heights.. My dad tried to outrun it in a 50 Ford convertible and we ended up in front of Ruskin High School (Direct hit). It started to pick our car up dad unlatched the top and it ripped off dad pulled me from the back seat and under the dash...a pile of brick from the school fell into the back seat where I would have been. Dad,Mom,my baby sister and I survived...Our house was untouched and less than a 1/4 mile from the path.... One never forgets....
  6. Trolling motors need no permits...And I think any thing under 5hp doesn't need one either?

    Joplin

I don't know, the one we were in 1957 (Ruskin Heights) was on the ground for 70 miles. My grandparent drove up from Joplin back then to be with us. My grandparents aren't living now but the house they had built for them down in Joplin (about 17th and Massachusetts) is no longer their from what I here.
  8. You guys sound like you live near the KC. area? Want to hit the Little Niangua soon?
  9. Chief: sure seems to be a few knuckleheads on this forum .....That Weren't Their...
  10. Yea this river is not easily accessible (as some streams) so their seems to be long stretches between take-outs so it would involve a couple of cars and people and crafts etc. to float that stretch often..So that would be another reason not to jump back on it.
  11. Alright I remember you guys were their across from me in the quiet eddy fishing when that first guy comes up to the edge of the bank and starts talking to someone on his walky talky or cell phone. I was in my kayak just below him and down stream about 30 foot hanging on to some brush. Then I float on around the corner from you guys to where Chief was. That is where I saw the sheriffs car drive by. I was wondering what part was video taped. It really shows how uninformed the Law Enforcement is about such important laws in Ozark Stream Country..
  12. I was sitting in my kayak stopped on the gravel bar, Chief was kicked back in his seat with his canoe stopped on the gravel bar. Cricket and I think KC were walking and fishing from the gravel bar. And then this guy Prater walks up to the edge of the bank, which was up 6'-8' up from the gravel bar, and starts mouthing off a bunch of threats, like I warned you before or something etc. etc.(bunch of meaningless crap to me) Chief just sittin back taken it all in like that guy was some pesky mosquito or something.... Wish I had a camera then....
  13. That area of Mo. hasn't gotten the water like the south I'll bet the river is clear. I always kind of liked the low-water-hot-dog-day-summer fishing conditions, like when we would go for 2 weeks camping on the Elk as a kid back in the 60's.
  14. Isn't that a private road, to be able to park and take out their? Always thought I would have to float on down to Mikes (Green Mills) If I did that. Sure is a nice long deep hole down below the slab, bolders as big as my truck down in their. Good fishing just on the backside of the slab too, nice deep hole, least it was 3-4 yrs. ago. Bannister to Fiery Forks looks like a long float as it is, as slow as I go fishing. Steve
  15. Time is shortly coming, like what hapened in Japan to this land, and our Arrogant, Prejudice,Biggoted,Controlling,space-in-time will have run its corse... To quote: General Smedley Butler USMC I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. There isn't a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its "finger men" to point out enemies, its "muscle men" to destroy enemies, its "brain men" to plan war preparations, and a "Big Boss" Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.
  16. For one thing (No One Owns Land) that notion is a European idea, foriegn to the Native Americans, which south of the border is mainley populated with (not Spanish). To quote: The concept that we own land is a western idea designed to exploit people and natural resources. We are mere stewards at best, squatters at worst, in the overall long term schema of things…. for anyone to claim they own a parcel, or a piece of land, is ignorant of the shortness of human life, the movement of people over time, and the shifting geology of the landscape…. land ownership is an arrogant human idea, as if we actually can claim what the earth already owns, and nature and the animals live… "One does not sell the land people walk on." --Crazy Horse

    Flood Pics

So much for river-clean-up it's all washed into Grand Lake
  18. Clean up on a stream that doesn't see much traffic...I didn't see any trash so to speak...from floods a lot of times trash can be hung up in the trees out of reach from the water... Now clean up on the Elk would be a real choir with the drunken zoo that that river has to contend with...
  19. Yea these guys down in Txs. (who build their own kayaks) do overnighters on the Brazos River.. Quote:Ron and I hit the brazos below the Falls yesterday for a little R&R overnighter... Needed a Bigger Cooler: http://www.southernpaddler.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8221 Best Late 4th yet I had a trip planed with my grandaughters and there dad this weekend. An hour before we were suppose to leave ,I had a knock on the front door. http://www.southernpaddler.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7897 http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=160194 Don't look like you have to worry about people messing with you on these Gravel-Sand bars.....

    Great Day!

That is liven when you get you're girls in volved...I remember taking my daughter (which is now 33) to a pond with me in my 2 man inflatable raft fishing with minnows for bass..and her catching one too big for here to reel in....It is mounted and still on my wall today...
  21. Hopper have pics. of you're other boats you have built?

    Steve

  22. Yea (FLOOD ZONE) To bad the deputy sheriffs that showed up on the scene couldn't have told Prater the law right then and their...telling him "HE was to cease and desist" on harassing fisherman....You know Do Their Job...You would think down their in Ozark Stream Fishing Country the Sheriffs Dep. would be versed and ready for such a thing On another note: Over-nighters on a gravel bar---Taking a couple days float...camping along the way.....(having a campfire etc. people do it on the Little Niangua)
  23. When the RR. tracks come close to the creek on the right I think that might be past his property down stream a little..... Buzz the campground I'm thinking of is on the east side of the freeway..
  24. Buzz on the drive back to K.C. Monday I thought I saw a campground on Shoal Creek along 71 hwy. where the creek runs under the freeway N. of Neosho a bit (or was I just seeing things??)
  25. I have in the past. I have caught fish on the Pomme and then again haven't had much luck at times. My Mom has 95 acres between Cross Timbers and the shallow take out down stream.
