  1. On Saturday, October 6th, my son and I had been out on Taneycomo night fishing. We were coming off the water about 9pm. We came down past Short Creek and saw a strange light up ahead. It turned out to be a gigging boat. We said hello and asked if they were doing any good and they replied they'd just gotten started. I dont believe I've seen a gigging boat on Taneycomo before. Although with the numbers of suckers - it oughta be a good spot. My questions: Who was it? Did you end up doing any good? Would you allow me to go along sometime? Sounds like a blast!! I explained to my son that suckers were very good to eat and he was just amazed. Kids!!!! loo10
  2. Let's just make sure we dont put the same "Schmoe" in charge of habitat that was put in charge of lake levels during the infamous Landing drawdown. In the words of Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon!"
  3. How much habitat improvement could be done that would not wash away during generation? Love to see a plunge pool or two developed. loo10

    Guitar Hero

Im not a big "gamer"... Heck, I'm not a little "gamer". I used to like playing Tetris, Centipede, & the Pac-Man games; but that's about it. That oughta give you my approximate age. But my best friend got a Guitar Hero and brought it over. What a blast!!!! I told my wife I wanted a PS2 & GH3 for Christmas. She rolls her eyes and asked, "Dont you think you're a little old to be playing video games?" I say Heck NO! Then I got her to play a time or two. I bet I get it for Christmas. (I wouldnt mind even finding a used system if it's in great shape.)
  5. Excellent photo. I've always been fascinated by Mantis'. First one I ever saw....turned his head and looked at me. That did it... I'm was a praying mantis fan from then on. Thanks!
  6. Glad you're back Phil and the bears dint eat you up! Rich
  7. No knife available... No lifejackets... Anchored below a dam. My Grandpa had a name for that... Dumb A**es.

    Mexican Villa

Glad somebody's supporting Mexican Villa's -style of mexican food... 'cause it sho' ain't gonna be me! I know it's a staple of growing up in Springfield but I just don't get it. It rates near the bottom of any mexican joints I've been to. Yet I know alot of people like it... go figure!
  9. Sorry Im just getting back to you. I have actually fished them from a boat at Taney and done well popping the banks with them while using an intermediate line. Probably reaction strikes. ~Rich
  10. Phil, You're in my prayers that you'll get back safe-n-sound. That close to so many bears.... it's a matter of time before you get one with a bad disposition. Be careful, have fun, dont get careless. A bluff charge from a big ol' Momma Grizzly will make you blow out your waders big time!!! ~Rich
  11. Big ol' fish... but I dont believe I ever saw a brown that greyish either. Most I've caught and seen were much more cream to yellow bellied. Not meaning to stir anything up. Just saying the color is different than what I've experienced.
  12. Good luck Phil. Be safe & remember the ol' saying.... "WELCOME TO ALASKA. GET OFF THE PLANE...ENTER THE FOOD CHAIN!"
  13. Here's the fly I know as a Bow River Bugger. Keep working with that deer hair. Tying with it is alot of fun once you get the hang of it. The best way is to have someone SHOW you how to work it. It's truly not hard at all. Next best is read all you can and ruin a little bit of it. Nothing takes the place of time at your vise! loo10
  14. Beautiful ol' fat fish Leonard. Congrats! loo10
  15. This is the the best hopper pattern ever and it uses only foam, rubber legs, thread, & marking pens. Floats like a cork. It's called, "Fishy's Hopper Pattern" and you can see see the whats & why's on tying it at: www.hipwader.com/2003/fishys-hopper-pattern loo10
  16. I think my PMS-V would beat a PMS in a contest. (Pine (Squirrel) Marabou Tail Sculpin w/ VELVETTA)
  17. Since I started this topic, let me comment further.... It seems to have gotten into a ethics challenge and that wasnt the intent. Lately there has been a lot of comments on the forum about "secret-this" & "secret-that". Actually I think that's pretty funny. Most things are not new....just forgotten. I dont think changing one thing on a fly makes it new. Using a newspaper wrapper as a shellback on your scud does not make it a new fly no matter WHAT you call it! It is still a scud. I was poking a little fun at Leonard. I admit it. But some of it was deserved. He comments alot about secret this & that and names of flies that no one but HE knows what they are. I don't see the point! To me...it's a little like taunting. Sure, we all have little things we do that maybe are unique to us. That's ok. If you think the fishing's better if you carry a bologna sandwich in your waders.....bully for you!!!!!! But..... if you're not going to tell us about the bologna sandwich; maybe it's best to keep it to yourself. Calling it the B-SIMP (bologna sammich in my pants) doesnt help. Gotta go. The WWWMB is impatient. (WWWMB= Wife Who Wants Me Bad) loo10
  18. This sounds like a pretty cool idea. Phil, you ARE smarter than the average bear.
  19. I have a "secret" fly, made out of a "secret" material, Tied on a "secret" hook, Fished in a "secret" spot. I retrieve it using a "secret" technique, as I fish for a "secret" fish, on a "secret" body of water that seems more river than lake. I'd love to share it with all of you but then it would no longer be my "secret". (Oooooo...Here's the secret...there ain't no secrets!) loo10
  20. A great way to gather that info is looking thru the postings in the archives. There's oodles & gobs of great information that alot of people have been willing to share over the years. It's always fun to dig a little and come up with a "pearl of wisdom" that many might have forgotten. Good luck. loo10
  21. Terry-Baby, That last post of yours just goes to prove that you GOTTA stay off the mushrooms. Just say No man...just say No! loo10
