  1. Maybe others are wondering this as well so I'll ask..... With all those magnificant salmon in the river, why are you guys so torked about catching the rainbows? When I went to Alaska, we chased silver salmon and as I've mentioned...if I lived with a 100 miles of a salmon river, I wouldn't be able to hold down a job as I'd be chasing them. I loved tying the flies, fishing for them, and the tablefare....Oooooooh my!!!! Brutha's, would appreciate you sharing with us why you do what you do !
  2. JIMINY CHRISTMAS!!!! That is why I kill all spiders (except Granddaddy Longlegs - no mouths) that can't get away from me! Save your breath spider-lovers....you'll NEVER change my mind.
  3. A year or so ago I met and visited at the Cooper Creek boat ramp with a fella who was running a dark colored Alumaweld Super Vee with a tiller at Taneycomo. I was fishing from a gray Lund tiller. I'd like to make contact & talk to him about fishing & his boat. If you are a member of the forum, please message me when you have a chance. Thanks in advance.
  4. Because it puts more emphasis on those who are already following the rules. Poachers are sure as heck not going to check anything in!!!! I took two guys fishing last week who had never been to Taney. We caught rainbows and browns up to 21 1/2 inches. Initially, I took it upon myself to revive and release all fish brought to net. My guests learned how & why of releasing those fish. By the end of the trip they could do it as well as me and knew the reason why. Lead by example. For the record, I am not a strict C&R guy. Sometimes I like to eat pan-fried trout for breakfast. But additional regs like having a person check in one brown a season seems like ridiculous regs to me. Haven't we grown tired of all the regulations that are worthless? I'd rather look for a solution to a problem we all are aware of which is more enforcement of existing laws with a few possible revisions (24" minimum) on Taneycomo.
  5. To clarify..... when I say I don't care about you guys using spinning gear & rapalas; I'm not criticizing 'cause sometimes I are one!!!! I'm saying you/we are not the problem in my estimation. Didn't mean to get anyone's panties in a bunch.
  6. I wholeheartedly agree with these comments!!!!
  7. I don't keep any of my browns so it isn't going to change what I do or don't keep. (And yes, I voted...24"- yes) But I thought this comment went a little nutso. Barbless only? Check in at an authorized station and have your license checked? Welcome to Point Zero.....Czechoslovakia. Come on! Next thing we'll be wanting to ban all boats. Then, limit it to flyrods only. Then bamboo flyrods only. Then bamboo fly rods with single action fly reels only. How about flies only? Or flies tied with silk thread only? When will the madness end? Let's have as few regulations as possible but enforce them! I don't care about you guys using spinning rods & rapalas. But we gotta do something about the bait fishermen every night in the restricted area!!!!!
  8. I have never used them before but do you see anyone using COWBELLS to trolll with. ?> That is not the most fun I can imagine as they are so heavy etc. but in Colorado they hammer the fish on them. "I got a fever! And the only thing that'll cure it....is more cowbell Baby!" Saturday Night Live skit (You either get it or you don't.) hee-hee
  9. Yes, you should be able to launch at Cooper by yourself. Just be careful & tie the boat off good at the small dock. Be patient.
  10. I haven't weighed in on this post yet but I think I will now. We are going to have either 4 years of a guy who we know where he stands or 4 years of a guy who we don't know where he stands. McCain was tortured and beat for 5+ years and still wouldn't turn on his country; even when most of us probably would have broke down. Obama has had relationships & connections with terrorists and hate mongers for years, he has muslim sympathy's and yet, tells us that those facts are meaningless and not to be considered. Do we believe what he does or what he says??? Who do I trust to do what he believes in his heart of hearts is best for his country? McCain.

    New Avatar

I saw it. Ohhhhh....it's a hip-MO-pot-a-mus. That clears it up. I told the wife that you'd posted a new picture on the site... and that you didn't look so good. (Ooooo...payback's gonna hurt!) By the way.....great shots!! Go Mizzou!
  12. My mind hadn't even gone there yet but you made me laugh right out loud! haaaaaaaaaaa
  13. I knew something was up. Fished a few hours last night with Phil and Vince. (Thanks Phil & Marsha for a wonderful supper!) As I headed for home, around 9pm, I stopped at Cooper Creek boat ramp just to see if anything was going on. There was. Lined up were multiple MDC trucks all with boat trailers attached & no boats. Thought they decided once & for all, to catch the Giant Taneycomo Squid!!!!
  14. I'm all for it!
  15. In Springfield, Missouri......... MARINE REPAIR CENTER 514 N. PRINCE LANE 417-833-9191 They've worked on my Minn Kota. Fast, Fair, Know their stuff. Highly recommended.
  16. "We're gonna need a bigger boat!"
  17. Uhhhh.....velvetta on a treble hook???? Ha-hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  18. MMMMM-mmmmmmm.....gar.
  19. The changing water levels have sure kept it interesting. The constant generation has allowed us to fish in new and exciting ways that not so long ago we would have complained about. Now, in some ways, I hate to see it go back to normal. I've enjoyed the deeper water so I could motor to the dam. But with the changes seen by the low flow....new opportunities arrive. Think there will be a large loss to prey with the low water? I know Phil said he had alot of dead sculpins at his place. Scud & midge impact with the water so low??
  20. Beautiful fish Leonard. Congrats!!
  21. Hip Hip Hooray for those who took a stand!!! We've beat this to death but these are the guys who we should all give the business to: those keeping fish in the slot, those fishing without a license, those using bait in the restricted zone, & those snagging fish on purpose. If you follow all the rules and want to keep a few fish, good for you. Sometimes I do....sometimes I don't. Three cheers to the guy who wasn't too passive to speak up! Though I don't know you....I'm proud of you!
  22. Let's hope the oil, gas, antifreeze, etc. that's in it....STAY in it.
  23. Michael, I have pretty much decided that between running from bears carrying a salmon and zap-a-gapping your forehead....you are just too darn "Ernest T. Bass" for me. Glad you had a wonderful night...try to make it through the end of the year will ya? Geez, I bet your Dad, Stubby, was glad when you moved the heck outta the house! On another note....how did all go with Olivia? She's been in my prayers.
  24. Sooooooooo......what's their point?????
  25. Greg, I run the grey Lund with Honda tiller. Next time you see me....give a wave. Although if water levels drop, I'll be a bit farther downstream or alongside you in waders.
