  1. I like to fish swimbaits but that is a pretty vague term. Hook decision depends on a lot of things. I use different hooks for different types of swimbaits, depths, and cover. The different types of soft swimbaits I use are hollow belly style and the solid plastic like the keitech, rage swimmers etc. I will always try to fish with a jighead and exposed hook when I can. Depends on cover. If there is a chance and multiple hangups I will use a weighted swimbait hook to rig weedless. I do not necessarily faver any specific hook. I like as wide a gap as I can get on the hollow bellies becasue there is a lot of plastic in the way.
  2. found a few but now the ones im finding are dried up. think the season is at an end.....
  3. Yes I am in the CEMO club. love that lake.
  4. Just seeing this now. Wish I would have.....not often do you see more crappie fishermen than bass fishermen. that was the case last weekend, even with Joe Bass tournament going on.
  5. I will be there for a club tourney tomorrow. Joebass will be there but other than that it doesnt look bad. couple other small clubs like ours....10 boats or less each. Really hoping the fishing is good.
  6. at pomme? I will be fishing there this saturday. gonna have to keep my eyes on the bank.
  7. has anybody ever hunted parks like Meramec Springs or something and had success? With the weather looking nice it could be fun to take the family there this weekend
  8. Did this for a few years after I won pretty big in a Bash and was tournament fishing before we had kids. Soon as I started slowing down and not showing much or any income coming in, it was time to quit. nice while it lasted. My accountant is on top of the game.
  9. with a good accountant
  10. Anyone that hunts morels understands that there is no proven 100% guarantee, there are however conditions that are more high percentage. whats wrong with understanding the climates and environment to help increase you odds? You don't just find them "in the woods". I wish it was that easy, I would walk my back 40. But there isn't a morel to be found in my oak/hickory forest. That is where the chanterelles in the fall grow But you are right....just like fishing, nothing beats time in the woods, looking at the ground.
  11. All I have ever hunted is the bottoms. what are some keys to look for on the hills for later season morels?
  12. coosa you are making me jealous. the Mushroom hunt is killing me. I moved 2 years ago and away from my regular mushroom areas. I am in the process of trying to find new ones close to home and no success yet. it is killing me. this week is going to be when they really start growing good. I just hope my new areas im checking are productive. what type of area are you finding the masses? bottoms?
  13. from what I heard, it was the only fish he caught all weekend
  14. No, I got the big check and the 1099 from AiA. Gave him half (that was hard...lol) Then I just had to issue him a 1099 for his half. Just like any employer would do for an employee. My tax lady helped us through the whole deal. She was the first person I called. Really wasn't too big of a deal. simple process if I remember correctly. I jsut had to be sure to do that or I would have been the one to get hosed on the taxes
  15. Good looking fish. a-rig fish?
  16. When I won 2nd overall back in 07. I won $16,600 and split with my partner. I got the 1099 but then I sent a 1099 to him so the taxes evened out.
  17. looked some yesterday as well. nothing.
  18. soil temp mainly but as to where, there is no difinitive answer. they "like" dying elms, apple, ash, poplars, sycamores, etc. mainly trees that grow in loamy soft moist soil like river bottoms. BUT can be found anywhere really
  19. fact is they can grow anywhere. there are just more high percentage places/trees to look. As far as the sightings pages, all that says is there is one confirmed mushroom in that county.......doesn't mean they are in full swing. There are different types of morels that show up earlier and later as well. here in Maries and Phelps county, we were the last 2 to even show any confirmed finds
  20. yeah. usually when we can consistently see night temps in the 40s and days in 60s or so, it is time to get out there. these cold nights are killing it. have some folks finding a couple blacks here and there but no meal finds yet. And I haven't found a one yet. In the southern part of the state they may be a little more cooperative
  21. looked some tonight and no luck. thinking it's still too cold
  22. Anybody finding any morels yet? Im in central MO and they aren't coming up too well yet.
  23. thanks for the report. will be down in 2 weeks. probably have some spawning then
  24. lime question........Have 11 raised beds. have a pile of lime from previous owners. what the best practice to lime the soil? how much etc.
  25. Not PowerPro but FFo-tackle.com (Berkleys outlet site) has 300yd spool of trilene tracer braid for $18. think 20lb is as light as they have right now though.
