  1. thanks. I am aware my bass spinning setup is a bit too much and was afraid the light action was too little. Hoping to find what works best with something I already have. thanks for the help dtrs5kprs
  2. I am sure it has been hashed out here thousands of times, but what is an ideal ned setup? I currently use my regular spinning gear. 6'6" -7" Med rod with 15-20 lb braid (6lb mono diameter equivalent) with a 10 lb fluoro leader. I am wondering if my crappie setup would work. It is a 7" Light action with 15lb braid (6lb diameter equivalent) with same 10lb fluoro leader. Would the light action rod bee too flimsy for bass fishing?
  3. thanks Bullshoalscat. your help is appreciated. I am fishing the rally. hope to at least catch some fish, and the wife has a blast when she can get on some fish. shes a spinning rig only type so she will be tossing a shad rap and probably a ned rig around and I hope for her to catch some too.
  4. thanks guys. we can also use the A-rig so I am sure I will have to throw it around too even though I hate it.
  5. oh well that isn't bad then. I can do that. I have a helmet for her. would you recommend it over sister?
  6. Well a cold run may not be in the cards. My wife is my partner for this derby. Lol
  7. not sure about the tournament but right now I would say the A-Rig is king. Followed by a stickbait. I would stay around the lower end and fish the wind on main lake and secondary points. be sure to check out the last deep water in the backs with a jig.
  8. try being a Nitro owner.....lol
  9. I frequent the BBC but learned long ago to stay away from "opinions" and the like. I post and read about fishing topics for the most part. Can't stand the drama some bring. You definitely also have to sift through the useful posts and the BS. You are right Ketchup, about Bull Shoals. We will be there for the BBC Rally next week. It is a low pressure deal I take the wife with me to fish. She likes it. There are some good people there too, but none of the mods......thankfully. Haven't ever been a fan of theirs.
  10. thanks. I am sure they pulled back some but they didn't leave. Should be able to find some working my way out........at least I hope....dropped 4 degrees? ouch
  11. Haven't been to Bull in several years. Taking out by the dam which has some very big creeks. My idea is rather than try to break down the lake for 1 day of fishing, I plan to pick one of the big creeks and focus on it. My question is, of the main creeks down by the dam is there any one that would be better or worse than others to focus on? Probably start in the back and work my way out on secondaries and channel swings with the typical winter time early spring baits.
  12. awesome job and thanks for the report. Will be there in 2 weeks and I haven't fished Bull for several years. Going out of the dam area
  13. What kind of water/structure you fishing?
  14. Fishing the 11th. Any current reports on whats going on at Pomme? thanks yall
  15. I change hooks out on about all jerkbaits. all will be different. I usually use the mustad KVD triple grips. I like the short shank ones. you just need to keep switching out different sizes of hooks as well as split rings. I take my jerkbaits to the pond every year with my box of terminal tackle and keep swapping out hardware until I get it to suspend how I want. It is very tedious but if your jerkbait doesn't suspend right you wont catch any fish.
  16. Very nice day. What area of the lake were you on?
  17. Jon boats can be had sooo much cheaper though. An you don't stumble across deals like you got on yours. People are proud of those little plastic boats.
  18. No. Have 3 kids that would use it too. Best deal will probably be a jon boat but I think the kids would like a paddle boat best. And me, I want one of those 2 man bass boats lol.
  19. This is exactly what I'd like but some people want a kings ransom for them.
  20. Putting out some feelers here. Looking for a pond boat. preference would be a paddle boat or a 2 man bass boat any leads would be appreciated. I am in Rolla.
  21. I would like to learn more about your deep water patterns. I enjoy fishing deep structure, just not very good at it. this leads to less confidence.
  22. have to be a member though.
  23. Wish I was closer. I could use some 8xd and 10xd at that price
  24. With FLW this weekend I am sure the areas of PB2, Alhonna, and Red Oak will have plenty of boats around them....
  25. Ha nope. Just chatter I heard at banquet. Not even sure it is true. Lol
