  1. Yes, many will not mind the cold water on a 100 degree day. This is a very telling video. Don't watch the people, don't look at the boat. Notice the wake behind the boat. Much less than the pontoon boat that passes!
  2. People predicting a huge wake from this boat know absolutely nothing about jet boats. Especially this one. It is a large, flat planing hull. Where the boat Phil posted is a planing hull when at speed, it is very much a displacement hull when the operator slows id down as described. The Branson jet boat would not be able to do the donuts, and spins if it were a displacement hull, or being operated like one. The large amount of water you see in the videos is not a large wake, but a lot of spray coming off the slight angle of the flat hull.
  3. Completely different boats, and water. Those are whitewater jet boats on an already very rough stretch of water. The only thing remotely similar to the Branson boat is the jet drive.
  4. Branson is changing. Or at least to survive it will need to. This attraction is certainly aimed at the younger, and young at heart visitor. Anybody going on a jet boat thrill ride not expecting to get wet is like somebody riding the log flume at SDC and expecting to stay dry.
  5. All children will be required to wear a pfd, and they will be available for adults that want one. Don't remember the exact age for the required pfd, but it's mantioned on their website FAQ page. As far as the predicted carnage, that is total nonsense. The captain is responsible for any hazzards or damages caused by his boat and it's wake. They are not going to chance fines, and law suites for a low speed "thrill" ride. It's been discussed many times here about the problems with people who think they are being safe, and courteous by slowing down when they see another boat. But unless they slow down to an absolute crawl, which isn't even possible with heavy current, they are causing more wake related problems for others than if they just kept on plane, and passed with minimal wake.
  6. AT 30 MPH? LOL. Guess with my bad back, knees, and a few other abnormalities I better sell the Gator. Or will twice the speed bring on the life threatening consequences sooner? No problem for the past ten or so years I've had it. Including a couple "sudden stops" on the river when I ran out of water! How do you turn 30 MPH into a "thrill" ride? Tell prospective customers it's hazardous to their health.
  7. In their latest announcement they say they will be taking passengers on a cruise down Taneycomo lake. Sounds like they may have listened to the many concerns, and complaints about upper Taneycomo. Bet they got mufflers on it as well. Looking forward to taking the 30 mph cruise. It will be interesting to go that slow in a jet boat. LOL
  8. Pretty much sounds like the trout tournaments I fish on Taneycomo.
  9. 20' Gator set up as a tournament bass boat. Going to keep your club, and tournaments in mind. Kinda got out of bass tournaments. Fish most of the Winter trout tournaments on Taneycomo though.
  10. Big tin inboard jets OK?
  11. But, when you live, or build a business in an area such as parts of Eureka, Pacific, and Valley Park along, and South of I-44 that has never flooded until the geniuses with the CoE built levees to protect other areas what are you supposed to do. Especially when you were there long before the levee was built.
  12. Heavy rain, blind curve, and hill on an unfamiliar road. No indication of a low water crossing because there isn't one there. Those poor people had no idea that the road had that much water coming across it. As for Valley Park, Eureka, and Pacific, a public referendum vote in 1978 to end the Meramec basin project sealed their fate as permanent potential flood victims. The flood levee at Valley Park also increased the magnitude of the flooding for other areas.
  13. Wonder if some of the decrease in flow is due to the ongoing search for the missing person in the flash flood. Divers have been searching today on the submerged sand bar below where Cooper creek enters the lake. I am surprised they haven't shut everything down for at least some time to aid in the search.
  14. Fished from the bank. Long crappie rods help. The water is still a foot and a half high, and stained. The bite was very light for the most part. Fishing two tubes about a foot to foot and a half apart. Set the hook with any movement of the float. That's what made fishing when it got windy tough. I had one double. Not two fish at the same time, one fish took both tubes. LOL. With the heavy chop on the water I didn't even see the float move when it inhaled the first tube. Lots of common water snakes, no conntomouths that far North. I'll have the boat next trip. The crappie should be moving out to the deeper beds away from the bank. Still could catch some on the causeways, but better in a few better places from mid June until Fall.
  15. Fished Friday and Saturday along the West causeway. Stinking Creek arm of Thomas Hill. Got in a few hours each day inbetween rain showers, thunder storms, wind, and other things that needed to be done. Between three of us we managed to get around 44 nice slabs in the two days. red/chartruse or blue/chartruse tubes 6-7' under a float cast about 30' or so out to various brush piles pn either side. A few small channel cat as well. No Hybirds yet. I talked to a couple bass fishermen as they went past me. They said they saw people catching fish along the East causeway also. The bridge is now open so no more fishing from it. But transportation in the area is much better that the past year or so. A side note, word has it that somebody from Shelbina has bought the old Kaseyville store, and will reopen it soon. Including the diner part for breakfast and lunch Here is our Friday afternoon catch.
  16. Below the trophy area being the key to the question I'm not sure there is anything to wade regardless of the flow. Maybe a little bit at the gravel boat ramp up from Short Creek. Pretty much bank, or boat below the trophy area.
  17. +No prop/lower unit to tear up hitting things like logs, stumps, or the bottom. -No go if you suck up a bunch of weeds or leaves. +++They're FUN!
  18. There are usually quite a few in the Winter tournaments. Loud, obnoxious things! LOL
  19. I think that is what the dock was built for. A condo development that never happened.
  20. Think this will change my plans for next week. I was going to bring some bass gear, and head down lake to give the green fish a try. But it sounds like it's going to be an opportunity for some great trout fishing.
  21. Will this push them up into the creeks down lake, or are the creeks too warm?
  22. She really doesn't. But I do have another edge. When she complains about me buying another gun. I tell her let's compare what that gun is worth in a couple years to what your latest QVC hosehold "decor" or what ever is worth......... Then I run!!!
  23. If I brought all my bass gear, and all my trout gear I would have you beat! LOL The wife says "why do you have so many fishing rods?" I say "have you ever seen a golfer with one club in his bag?" Think I got a plan. Bring some soft lizzards, and craws and split shot them on the Medium action spinning rod I will already have for throwing flicker shads, and such on for trout. Add some sinko's, and hooks for wacky rigging. My spinnerbait rod, and a handful of white, white/chartreuse, and chartreuse spinnerbaits. Finally something heavier, and a few bass jigs. If that don't do it, I'll just go back uplake, and catch trout!
  24. So, minimal tackle (I don't want to load up all my bass gear, and trout gear) what 2 or 3 techniques would you use?
  25. My go-to jig color when the water is badly stained on Taney is black. A little less stained, black/olive, or black/sculpin. Lightening up the color as the water gets more clear.
