I fished the Big creek and Bennett's area of Norfork yesterday with Mark Goines Host of the TV show Hooked on Fishing we caught over 100 fish mostly between 10 and 14".We did finally find the keeper size fish holding at the base of trees on the flats in 8 foot of water pitching Texas rig Berkley green pumpkin tube baits with a 1/2 oz pegged weights for a fast fall to the base of the trees through the thick limbs....You have to pitch to the center of the tree and let it fall straight down if you pitch to the outside edges of the tree you catch the smaller fish. Many of them bad boys would hit the tube as we started pulling the bait up through the tree for another pitch. Most of the smaller fish hit a white spinnerbait and a 1/4 oz black back chrome rattle trap..Look for the bait fish.

Robinson Point Recreation Area launch is fine most all ramps are good for launching some ramps are basically launching your boat on the road just above the ramp.As long as you have someone to launch you you will be fine.If your by yourself use Panther Bay launch or the launch at Cranfield park There is some good topwater spook fishing way up the river arms. Jigs are working on the main lake points and the Smallmouth are moving shallow on the lower lake.Over all the hot fall bite hasn't started yet but should start soon.Right now Jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and rattle traps are all taking a few fish.Keepers are hard to come by right now.My best fish have come on the main lake points and channel bends on jigs and t-rig craws.Mostly smaller fish in the backs of the coves.I caught a nice 3lb+ smallmouth on a watermelon paca craw fishing the flooded campground at Lake Norfork Park this morning that fought like a junk yard dog.

I have heard talk that they are thinking of closing Lake Norfork to swimming because of the bacteria in the water from the decaying brush and trees in the water.Has anyone heard anything about this. The water is turning a cloudy pea green. It seems to be getting worse as the water warms. Fishing Report.. I have been catching a lot of nice smallmouth on main lake shorelines on 1/2 oz jigs and Jerkbaits.
-
What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend and are the gas prices effecting what your plans are.I usually just stay home because here on Lake Norfork the Lake is packed with out of towner's but the campgrounds that are out of the water dont have that many campers for a Thursday before the Holiday weekend. It looks like a lot of people are staying home.

Right now the Largemouth are in the trees way back in the coves and wacky rig purple floating worms are working good. The smallmouth are are on the outside edge of the trees and hitting jerkbaits, jigs and shaky head worms. The flooded picnic and campground areas are holding smallmouth.Just about every picnic table has a smallmouth on it.The problem with the Largemouth is getting your boat back far enough in the trees to get to the fish.Another pattern for largemouth is a spinnerbait in the main lake cuts.I am looking forward to the lake getting back to normal pool. Good Fishing Larry

Fishing has been tough. The fish are scatted and most of the shore line is flooded trees,Look for coves that you can get into the shallow water on.Keep your eyes open for surface activity. The water temp has been 59 to 61.Fish spinnerbaits and Jerkbaits. Also try jigs on deep points. It should get better with the warmer days.Maybe a spawn in some warmer coves on the new moon May 5th.I have a white and blue Champion and on the motor it says JERKBAIT if you see me stop and say hi.

The Rigging Rod is SOLD to Rob..I still have those awesome Spinnerbait rods for sale.

I like the mid lake areas (coves) spinnerbaits and Flukes and scum frogs have been working for me.There is still a few(not many) big logs in the lake so keep a eye out for them. Good Fishing Larry

This was posted on 7/24..it don't look good.you might want to reconsider and find another lake. Its a mess down here on BS and Norfork and it just keeps on raining. Heartland Team Series and Pro-Am events on April 12 and 13 have been moved to Table Rock Lake out of Kimberling City. Launch times will remain the same. The Corps of Engineers was contacted and Bull Shoals is expected to crest on April 11th at about 30 feet over power pool. The plan is to dump Beaver and Table Rock into Bull Shoals. Water that high will cover virtually all of theweigh-in siteplanned to be used by Heartland. With the safety of the anglers in mind, moving to a new lake was neccessary.
-
I think this is a little backwards..... 1/...Teams will launch at Panther Bay 2/...The stage area for weigh-in will be at Robinson's Point recreation area.
