  1. Gotta agree, abk.
  2. Hey QB, I highly recommend going to see Duke at Battery Outfitters in Rogers. Always been treated better than fair there both during and after the sale. Especially after.
  3. I hear Spot Remover and Lavender Shad are bad choices, too.
  4. I gotta get me some of those War Eagle spinnerbaits and see if I can learn how to catch one on them. Sounds like a hoot.
  5. That's some funny stuff, QB.
  6. I've done my share of jerk bait fishing on LOZ, Table Rock and other Ozarks area lakes. It's a slightly different game for Plug and others at LOZ because their water is not as clear and they have a lot of dark-colored shoreline chunk rock that gathers heat and warms the surrounding water. Plug is right on when he says you throw on the bank and that most bites come only a few feet out. Down here, the water is clearer and jerk baiting is a different and generally deeper game. Banging your expensive lures on the rocks isn't necessary because the fish rarely get up super shallow during jerk bait season. Hope this helps provide some clarity.
  7. Good report. A lot like what we found Sat and Sun in the White River arm.
  8. Stripers belong in the ocean ... at least God thought so coz that's where He put 'em.
  9. I think you should test those on Beaver first, QB. Prairie Creek, Ventris and Coose are real good jerk bait places. There are no stripers in any of those places. Really. I promise. There aren't.
  10. Seriously, a session on catching suspended fish. We all know they follow the shad, but what kind of places do these fish tend to hang out? What do they look like on a graph? What are the secrets to catching them?
  11. How to locate and sign a SEC-caliber quarterback. And defensive backs.
  12. Also fished Sunday with a good friend and newbie to The Rock. We launched at daylight at SK bridge and also fished til about 4 p.m. Fished downstream as far as Baxter. Flattest day I have ever seen on TR, including hot summer days. Just not a breath of breeze at all. Clouds or no clouds, that doesn't help. Like Quillback, we ended up with about a dozen and we worked h-a-r-d for them. Caught one on a Wart but otherwise it was shaky head with a Zoom finesse worm in watermelon candy or green pumpkin candy. The latter seemed to be better considering how dark the skies were. Probably had five keepers. Caught them mostly on steeper main-lake banks with chunk rock. In my opinion, sky conditions are important on our White River lakes but wind is the most critical factor. Without it, you're gonna work your tail off for whatever you manage to catch.
  13. Lookin' good. Don't throw the Norman Flake at Grand. Big Purple will take it away from you. (Drum) LOL
  14. Heard it was tough for others today, too, QB. Didn't get to go myself but must have just been an off-day. Donna and I are going in the morning. Planning to float the Ranger off the trailer at Baxter and work our way down toward KC and over into the James. Might even poke our nose into Aunt's Creek for a bit. Will report back.
  15. Wayne, in re-reading my own message, I may have come across a bit strong. I have some limited experience in running tournaments myself plus I'm 53 and have fished them since I was 18. You have a dirty job and not only do I not envy you, I appreciate you and others who go to the effort to promote and run tournaments for the rest of us. Same goes for Donna. There is a place for low-entry fee tournaments but the guys who enter them (myself included) have to realize that the payout is completely controlled by number of entries times the amount of entry fee. If you only pay a $50 entry fee, you aren't gonna be competing for a pile of prize money. They also need to realize that you are running a local arm of a national circuit and that the 70 percent payback is set by USA Bassin' and not you. So anyone out there with a mind to complain to Wayne about this is shooting the messenger. Donna and I will look at your schedule and may be able to make a tournament or two. Good luck in your efforts this year.
  16. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Among the things I'm thankful for are my good friends here on the forum, which is an absolute cornucopia of fishing information (and sometimes priceless entertainment) but it goes far beyond that. There are lots of good folks here, and I wish each of you a day (and weekend) of sincere gratitude, valuable time with loved ones and maybe even time to get on the water and catch a few swimmers.
  17. Just throwing a jab at the old Beaver pond. Me and that lake love to hate each other.
  18. I wondered if that wasn't an older version. The Megabass website actually uses some pics on its color chart with straight-looking eyes. You learn something every day. Apologies for raising suspicion.
  19. The 30-fish (and then some) days are here. Just gotta go one lake downstream.
  20. Looks like the eyes have been replaced (Megabass baits have downward-looking eyes) and it seems to lack the Ito signature on top of the back.
  21. Agreed in full, rangerz21. At 70% payback and only a $50 entry fee, the winner's share stands to be less than $400 on a 20-boat field. Side pot would help but kind of hard to justify pulling the boat out of the garage for no more money than that.
  22. I think you may have nailed it bluebasser.
  23. I thought so, too, at first glance, Thumbs. But the eye isn't right and there's no name on top of the back up by the head. Otherwise, it looks like a RC STX or a Megabass. I'm a big fan of those Rick Clunn baits. They aren't real durable but at $7 and change apiece vs. $25 or $30 for a Megabass, I can afford to buy some backups.
  24. Good report. Thanks for sharing. Can I inquire as to what kind of jerk bait that is? Thanks.
  25. There's a big tall guy in a red/white Skeeter that fishes Aunts Creek sometimes.
