  1. You need to start posting fishing reports instead of inflammatory nonsense like this. Because the longer this crap goes on, the fewer there will be of us guys who actually do contribute worthwhile info.
  2. Nice report. Fish have been balled up like that all year and back even into last fall. You can fish half the day on good spots and not get bit and then find one little stretch like you did and just hammer 'em. Chances are you can go back there and do it again several times. I have a spot like that up in the White that I've been catching them on since before the spawn. So far I've been lucky enough that Quillback hasn't seen me on it or it would be picked clean by now. And yes, welcome to the gang.
  3. The real shame is that none of us who support C&R can ever post another bit of information on here without wondering if it is being used to kill bass. Frankly, I feel kind of foolish for ever trusting that practically everyone on here supported C&R because obviously that is not the case. I'm sure we get a lot of drive-by guests who kill their catch, but sure had no idea so many members still do. And please don't try to convince me that it doesn't hurt anything to kill a few. It's my opinion that it DOES hurt and you are not going to change that. Far as MDC numbers go, they would not be the first government agency ever to spin their data to support their actions. For whatever reason, they are not inclined to stock bass in Table Rock, so every fish killed is just another gone, leaving only nature to replace it. Yes, you can legally kill 6 bass a day. But I am not going to give you information that might help you do it, and neither are some other folks who have helped grow this forum into one of the very best anywhere on the internet.
  4. I'm running (safely) down the lake yesterday afternoon and there's a regular guide (not one on this forum) running just ahead and to the right of me. Suddenly, without so much as looking back, he makes a left turn to go fish a bluff end and runs right across my bow. Had to slow down considerably to keep from hitting him. Unfortunately, stupidity isn't limited to the inexperienced.
  5. Thumbs, the list was posted in Bassmaster, not Stripers-R-Us. Ness, I'm a 35-year newspaper guy and you definitely hit the nail on the head. Ray Scott/Bob Cobb never published this kind of nonsense in the days when Bassmaster focused on educating its members rather than lining its pockets.
  6. Shared the day with fellow forum member ranger185 on Monday and had a great outing in every respect. Launched at Mill Creek at 6 a.m. and fished down to the island in front of Old 86,. We ended up with 30 in 7 hours. Best 5 around 13-14 pounds. Fish were anywhere from 2 feet to 25 feet deep. Redfin, spinnerbait, jig and the varmint all played a role. The photo below illustrates how to ensure long-term enjoyment of a keeper spot as opposed to the temporary gratification of a fish taco.

  8. Dang nice walleye, rps. Glad you survived the zoo. Pretty day to be outside.
  9. Just watch out for the morons, buddy. They are out in excessive force this time of year.
  10. Skeeter, that would be sending money away. Big money. You know that's not gonna happen!
  11. At least we don't need a Supreme Court ruling on the union of Dixie Jets. Heck, mine are so "straight" they won't even tangle up in my tackle box.
  12. Been seeing more and more boats this size up in the White River arm of the lake. Campbell Point Marina offers slips up to 22x80 in size. It's only gonna get worse.
  13. Bo, some guides may be dependent on tourism advertising, but the top-shelf guys don't need it. They stay busy as beavers on reputation, word-of-mouth and most of all, return business. Babler, Beck, Buster Loving, Pete Wenners are all in that class, along with others.
  14. Did someone say winter? Is it time to put all the jerkbait boxes back in the boat? Pleeezzze?
  15. That's why I play a lot of golf in the summer. No stress there, especially for a competitive dood like me (with myself mainly). None at all. Promise. Mean it.
  16. Donna and I ran to Holiday Island from KC in a CPA team tournament once. It was super hot summer and we had managed to catch a few in practice in the cooler water up there. Didn't work out in the tournament. Not one of my prouder moments, although I must say that it's cooler riding in the boat half the day than standing in it fishing.
  17. Agreed in full, Mike. We have enough pressure from locals sawing the sides off a limit every time they catch one.
  18. Truman in Missouri often has some decent ledge fishing in the summer months because of strong current.
  19. I'm guessing 5 miles but rps would know better than me.
  20. Hope you guys have a great ol' big time and catch a lot of fish. And most of all, don't let the knifers/crawler dunkers see ya catch one.
  21. That's good stuff, gitnby.
  22. It's ridiculous out there anymore. Just completely ridiculous.
  23. Pepe, that plum color has historically worked very well for me any time the water temperature reaches 80 or above. Probably has zip to do with the actual water temp, but something that coincides with it. Another very good color that is pretty much impossible to find these days is good ol' strawberry. No flake, just a plain ol' translucent strawberry red worm. I like them in finesse size for that tough daytime bite from now thru the end of September but I'm sure it would work well in a big worm, too.
  24. Unreal. Hope you guys reported this to the cops so they can be on the lookout for this psychopath. Sounds like he was just trolling for a fight and using his wife for bait.
  25. The title of the thread says it all. We frequently have threads careen way farther off the road than this. Besides, it ain't right to be ragging on the varmint like that. Incidentally, don't take the little guy to Broken Bow. They won't bite it there. Not at all. Mean it.
