I love my 2 Cabelas LST rods. I have a 3 wt. nad A 5 wt. They are great rods for the money. I also have a couple of Bass Pro CV2 rods that aer not as fast action but are good rods as weel. I like the 5 wt. Very versital, for Taney and the other trout waters around hear the 5wt. works great.

The generation schedule shows 3 units all day tomorrow? I guess it's still going to happen?

Fished the Little Red for the first time today. Went to JFK Park just below the dam. Did ok, caught 15 or so. Mostly on a brown wooley. But I wasn't real impressed with the area. The water was very colored compaired to the trout water I am used to fishing. It was dificult to wade because you couldn't see where or what you were steping on, and the big chunk rocks were hard to walk on. There was only one riffle or run, and the rest of the water was slow. I did go down toward the hatchery outlet. But ther were a lot of bait fishermen all over that area. Being I am not at all familiar with the Little Red I'm sure there are better places on down the river to fly fish. But is was great to hook and land a few. Tail water fishing oppertunities this year have been few and far between.

Just my luck. Generation schedule says 1:00 they start at 9:30. We did manage to catch about a dozen each before the water came up. I had the best Cut Throat I have evr caugh, about 20". All of the fish were in great shape and fought hard. Just wish it would have lasted longer.

Great. Thanks John. See you there.

Headed down in the morning. Leaving Spokane Mo. about 4 am. We have never fished the handicaped area. Is it difficult to get to the catch and release area from there?
-
We are not picky about what we catch. I started flyfishing a couple of years ago and have fly fished for trout 100% of that time. But it is easy to do when you live 30 minutes from Taneycomo. But this year has been impossible to wade at any of the tail water areas. And with out a boat the fly fishing has been limited to Crane Creek a couple of times, and Roaring River a couple times. So we will be thrilled to get to wade and fly fish for any thing. But I would like to expirence the trout fishing the Northfork has to offer. We will have 4 days there so we will have time to fish for what ever is best at that time. See you in a couple of months.

Just made reservations for the 2nd 3rd and 4th of September. In RV site #4. We plan on doing 2 floats. The one above back to the River of Life. And the one from River of Life down to the bridge. Thanks so much for the info. We are sure looking forward to the trip.

Thanks Brian. I talked to the River of Life people this morning. I think we arer going to stay there. It's a nice facility and kind of in the middle of all the fishing. They had plenty of space open for that time too. Looking forwasrd to the trip. Neither of us has fished the North Fork. Looks like a great river.

My buddy and I were thinking about a trip Labor Day week. I was looking for a camp ground that might have an electrical hook up. I could only find Twin Bridges and River of life. are there any others in the area a guy could camp and fly fish?

We had a great time Saturday morning as well. My buddy caught all 4 species of trout. Brown, rainbow, brook and cut throut. I cught all except a brown. But between the 2 of us we caught about 30 each. We fished from the lower end of the camp ground at dam quarry to the boat ramp afet teh kids got finished. Was hopping they would hold off Sunday morning for a while, but that didn't happen. We caught most of our fish on cracklebacks and wooley buggers. Nice to get to fly fish, hadn't been since March.

This will make 4 years in a row we have floated the James on Memorial day. Don't worry about the number of floaters. If you see more than a dozen canoes that will be a bunch. We do the same float about 4 times a year and it's never crowded. With the way the water has been this year you may not see that many. And with a motor you can fish the good holes as many times as you want. Good luck, and if you see 3 green canoes floating togather holler at us. We will be glad to share any info we have.

We are floating fro HL Kerr (Horse Creek) to Galena. It's about a 5 mile float. Good fishing on that stretch. There will be 3 canoes of us. Holler if you see us. I think we are going to start about 9 am or so. Good luck. I have caught some nice smallies on small crawdad crank baits this time of year.

Found a pop up camper, a little bigger than I wanted, but it is nice. Beats sleeping in a tent all to heck. But we have a camp site reserved for the 3rd- 4th and 5th of july. Can't wait to get there. Have never fished Roaring River in July. We fish it quite a bit during the catch and release season. With the water up every where I haven't got to fly fish for about 2 months. Hope I can remember how. But any way, I'm sure I will be up to see you at the fly shop Tim. Maybe you can give me some tips for that time of year. I would like to fish the fly area where you can wade. See you all in July.

We used to rent from Bruce there next to the store, but he sold to someone else andd the other day I was by there I didn't see any canoes. We rented alumninum conoes one year, hated floating in them. We got an Old Town from Bass Pro last year and love it. I willsee if I can find their phone number and call them. The plastic or what ever they are made of, just float better than aluminum ones do. Thanks for the help.

Is there any where to rent a plastic canoe around the Galena area? We are floating the Saturday before Memorial Day from Horse Creek to Galena. I have my own canoe but some folks that want to go with us need to rent one.

Spokane is south of Springfield. We are in between Springfield and Table Rock Lake on 160 Hwy. I am waiting on my Econmic Stimulus Check. Is this the Palomino camper? That is the one I was intrested in.

Exactly what I am looking for. I need to contact thoes polple, hard to get from Spokane to KC. during the week. I wish I had it setting on a nice camp site tonight, great night to camp. Thanks for the heads up on the web site.

Anybody know where a good pop up camper is for sale? Looking for something between $2500 and $3000, in good shap, don't want to have to do alot of work on.

Tried the Hevi shot 3 1/2" #5 turkey loads this weekend. They are the deal. At 40 yds. 21 pellets in the head/neck area. A plus, they don't kick nearly a hard as the 3 1/2 Winchester's. I did find the gun shoots high, not much I can do about it. The sights came from the factory on the gun. But I will just have to remember to aim at the chest. Thanks for the tip on the Hevi Shot, ready to go to the woods. Them and my new B Mobile decoy should do the trick.

I hear a lot of guy's talk about Mossberg. The complaint is the fore arm rattles. I have shot 8 or 10 rounds, not enought to break it in, but the gun is tight. No rattles, yet. When I was at Bass Pro looking at this gun, one of the other guy's looking at a Remington for his son, said he has an 835 and it was a much better gun than the 500 or the 535. So far I like it. The 20" barrel is short and easy to handle. Has sling studs, makes it easy to cary, and the thumb hole stock is very comfortable to hold and shoot. I have a plain 870 I have been turkey hunting with the past few years but I wanted something short and easier to handle and cary. I think the gun will be fine, just need to find something it likes.

I shot fives and sixes. The 3 1/2" were Winchester Supreams in a 6 shot. The 3" were Federal Perminum in 5 shot. I guess this may not be too bad. 13 pellets in the head/neck area, I kind of thought the 3 1/2" might deliver more of a group being there's 1/4oz more shot. You only need 1pellet in the righ place. I may try some Hevi Shot, thoes things are so expensive you can't shoot many for a pattern.

Hey guys, I just purchased a new Mossberg 835 with the thumb hole stock. I have shot 3" and 31/2" shells thru it to try and find the best losd. I replaced the X Factor tube with a Primos Jelly Head tube, but I am stll not happy with the patterns at 40 yds. I am averaging 13-14 pellets no matter if its a 3" or 31/2". Any one have a favorite for this gun?

I tie a lot of crackelbacks. Mostly I use 6/0 thread and use flashabou for the bodies. But one color that works on Taney well is what they call pumpkin. I use the yellow uni strech for the body on it and it work and looks great. I haven't tried any of the other colors of uni strech but I sure they would look great too. Give the flashabou a try. It comes in a bunch of colors and really makes cracklebacks look and work great. I tie a lot of crackelbacks. Mostly I use 6/0 thread and use flashabou for the bodies. When I started fly fishing I did thr same thing.Every week it was $20-$30 at the local fly shop in Branson. The people at the shop kept trying to talk me into tying my own flys. I didn't think I had the patience to tie my own. But I fish a crackel back a lot on Taney, I couldn't find a good crackel back on the internet, not like we fish hear any way. So I finally made the jump and started tying my own. I not only find I enjoy tying my own flys, but the ones I tie are so much more durable that anything I could buy. The crackels at the shop I might get 5-6 fish before the fly feel apart. The ones I tie I can get 15-20 fish out of one fly. A big money saver. I'm not the best at tying all kinds of flys, but the stuff you use most a Taney can be tied fairly easily. Crackel Back, scuds, wooley buggers, midges. You can definatly save some money and enjoy tying and catching fish on flys you tie yourself.
