Can you help me understand how lynching black people is "just as wrong and ulawful" as anything that anyone affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement has done? I'm pretty busy so I don't pay as much attention to the news as I should, but specifically what acts are you referring to that are equivalent to racially based murder?

wading - carrying two rods - any ideas?

This is exactly what I need to do I think. Pvc cut with a Sawzall would be perfect. I could attach that to my camelback easily. -
I hope yall do dan. I'm done with the run for this year. I had one good day on whites and three poor days on them with plenty of walleye. Pretty good spring for thinking I wouldn't. e able to get out much. Next trip will be friday or some day next week down to the arkansas river for crappie. I know there are plenty in beaver, but we can catch 60 and keep nothing smaller than 12" down there with lots of 2 lb fish. Hoping to get on one good slab fest trip then bill some hours before the powers that be get mad at me for fishing so much!

wading - carrying two rods - any ideas?

I live on the creek I fish so a lot of my trips are very quick trips. I'm not dragging a canoe or kayak on these, though I do float it. The snap is not an option for me. I can retie as quick as anyone, but a lot of the time I'm using braid and a floro leader. The deal here is I like to swim a swim bait through the holes then follow up with a ned. It's nice to be able to switch back and forth really quickly, but it would be cool to have a convenient way to carry a back up rod I'm going to look into the little side snaps like the picture above. -
I was up the white, not the WE

The camp is down by sidewalk hole with the big dock right? It's at least six miles

I saw a ton of suckers too, and some giant fish playing in the shallows. spawning carp maybe. I fished yesterday and got on a hot white bass bite. I caught them nearly every cast from 830 to 11 or so and then tried for walleye. I zeroed there but dipped a brush pile for a second and caught a couple of crappie. So I spent the rest of my day crappie fishing. There are a lot of fish in the river right now. I ran as far up as my jet would let me but the water was down quite a bit.

I wear wiley x rx sunglasses. Used to sear Oakleys. I love my current pair but don't use the foam insert. It would probably be cool for running the white river on a below freezing morning. I'll have to check yours out when I'm ready for a new pair in another year or so. Glad to hear you say they have color choices. I wear mine all the time and I'm not so sure about white.

I'm planning to fish up the other river on thursday. I'm concerned that these cold nights will screw it up. I can't fish the late shift so the cold mornings don't help me much, though the walleye don't seem to mind.

I am a HUGE fan of the revo S thanks to trophy fishr. It would definitely accommodate your line choice. Great reel in the barely sub 100 price point.

wading - carrying two rods - any ideas?
hoglaw replied to hoglaw's topic in General Angling Discussion
Both good ideas. They both contemplate the rod being broken down but I bet I could rig something up to wear the extra one over my shoulder and swap fairly easily. I can retire pretty quickly so it has to be awfully efficient to beat that. I may play around with it -
I wade a particular creek a fair bit. On some of my longer walks it would be nice to carry two rods with two different lures on them to cover water without having to switch back and forth - fast presentation with a follow up bait if that makes sense. But I'm not really sure about the best way to do it. Anymore I carry a very small box of lures that fits in my back pocket, a pair of clippers, a pair of hemostats, and a spool of line to make leaders out of if I break off at the knot. Some days it will be two spinning rods, other days it will be a baitcast rod and a spinning rod. I don't wear a backpack but I suppose I could. Just not quite sure how else I could do it. Sticking one down in my camelback works, but I have to zip it up a little on both sides which means I basically have to take the whole thing off to switch from one rod to the other. There has to be a redneck solution to this. Anyone carry two rods on wading trips without leaving one on the gravel bar and walking back and forth all day?

If it's the same guy, he does pickup/drop off at multiple stores including Southtown. He fixed a couple for me a year or two ago and did a great job for a good price. I want to say the name of his deal is "Wishing I was Fishing Reel Repair" or something like that. He does rods too. I went by his house to pick mine up and checked out his set up. Very cool deal.

You didn't miss much. It was a grind. There are plenty of fish in the river and I saw folks by the bridge with some big stringers from fishing minnows, but we only caught a handful of whites we did catch some nice walleye though.

We are headed out first thing in the morning and will probably pull out by 4. I'll be in the big trout boat with a yamaha 90 jet. Flag me down if you see me

Heard a bum report today. Trying tomorrow despite the wind.

Sometimes they just really get locked in on the spawn. I'd say that was the case, especially if you were seeing them in big numbers in shallow water. I've been on a similar deal where I could walk across the stream on them and would occasionally foul hook one. I'd leave that spot to go try somewhere else only to kick myself for leaving fish to find fish. One thing I've found that can help when they are just bad locked in like that is ripping a small jerkbait in front of their face from a stand-still. That seems to trigger a reaction bite sometimes. And you always have a chance of just snagging one

Turbidity is showing 25 and about 650 cfs on the wyman gauge. That level is fishable on they fly, but the turbidity needs to get down to 20 at most. It should fire off this week if folks are hammering them on bait.
-
It wouldn't surprise me at all. Creek is running high though according to the graph. not sure about water clarity.
-
You'd think this rain would stir them up. The White came up quite a bit. It was at 2500cfs and muddy when I looked at the graph this morning. Water temp at Wyman is around 58 or so. That ought to supercharge them if they're still going to come up.

I've caught several at twin and several a long way above twin. The other day I saw a big pile laying under the water at the ramp. There are fish in the rivers but the bulk of the run has yet to start in my opinion. If I wanted to catch a bunch of good ones I'd be looking closer to point 12 I think. Just look at lances posts. He seems to be laying into big females spider rigging and I believe he fishes somewhere near or above point 12.

Despite having lost 20lbs this year, I'm still a little big for my Coosa. It's fine floating the creek and paddling around, but when it comes to making long paddles I feel like I'm pushing a lot of water, especially carrying gear. I weigh 230 right now. I'm not into kayak fishing bigger water except one time a year, and that's fishing on the back side of Fort Morgan on Mobile Bay. Last year I did a couple of five or six mile days out there and it about killed me. This year I'm going in September and I expect it to be a LOT hotter. Normally I'd just buy another boat, but with a five month old and a big shop project that's running over budget, I just have a lot higher priorities. Anyone know where I could rent/borrow a Hobie or a bigger boat to take with me to Alabama in September? I fished the little lagoon with a guy who had a Hobie last year and man was that sweet. I was paddling my arms off and barely keeping up with him pushing his legs at a leisurely pace. I've looked around down there a little and don't see anywhere to rent one. I suppose I could buy one then immediately turn around and sell it. But the problem is I don't think I'd want to sell it!
-
Maybe I should sell mine at a premium? I've got two boxes from a fellow oaf member. Two different sizes and two colors I think. Mine are first generation though. Maybe I should advertise them as pre-oaf mitch craws? Bet I could get a hefty sum for them! And yeah, they catch fish.
-
Twin should fish a little better next week I'd think if we can get some stable warmer weather. Fairly slow now.
-
We fared a little better but it was a grind. Didn't catch many whites, but caught some pretty high up. We did get get into quite a few walleye though. The water was pretty cold today. Needs another warm up for the whites I think.
