  1. I know there is a way to tell them apart, but not for sure whihc is which. Can someone tell me how to seporate them. I have a large collection with some being 15-20 years old I would guess.
  2. Pro Blue and Tenn. Shad in Megabass, also Ito natutral, and wakasagi.Sp?(looks like ghost minnow) are my suggestions.
  3. Welcome to the board Tim. We have met before, I used to kick around bull Shaols Lake Boat dock with some buddies who worked there dring the lost summers of my youth. I have seen you numerous times on the water as well. Anyway, nice report. Don't you also fish/guide on the lake as well? I would really like someone to start posting some reports on the Bull Shoals lake page as well. It would be nice to pick the brains of an expert from time to time.
  4. nice report, I am going out tomorrow afternoon. Did you try any jerkbaits, or just the jigs? It seems like some days, the jerks will catch the larger fish, and vise versa. Brigman says you are a jig man, so maybe stuck to your guns the whole time. Thanks for the good report.
  5. Wish I would not have seen this today, I am now a $100 lighter. thats what happens when your snowed in.
  6. I like the double palomar as well. it is pretty easy to tie with cold wet cub fingers like mine.
  7. I have always used the palomar. The only problems I have noticed is with flourocarbon, the lighter the test the worse. It seems like it cuts easier at the knot, maybe more brittle.(sp?) Has anyone else had this experience? I like the palomar for the ease of tying. It has won the knot wars few times, but if something new is better, I'll try it and see for myself.
  8. I had a few years ago that broke at the bill. I sent them back to lucky craft and they sent me some replacements. Since, then I have never had any problems
  9. Here are some decent discussions on various jig fishing topics http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9830&st=0&p=59067&fromsearch=1&#entry59067 http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=169 http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=153 http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=154 http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9676
  10. Welcome. i live down around rim shoals, so we're sorta neighbors. Anyway, that is one impressive fish you are holding in your picture. What is the story behind it?
  11. What color did you have success on? I tried a few on many different trips and never had a touch. Maybe it was just off days or poor color selection. Also, what time of the year was it. Just curious, as I really like the looks of the McStick and know that Mike tested them on the White River at one point when develping them.
  12. That's the spirit. The bait monkey is a powerful creature. Frank is an excellent guide and jerkbait expert. The upper end has some fantastic fishing areas as well. I would say there will be some very good water for you guys this weekend as long as no more rain falls. It had been running full blast, so a little let up won't hurt a thing. It was a bit muddy today, but should be fine by tomorrow. I suggest the Table rock shad and Tenn. Shad colors as the top two.
  13. I have not done to well with te MCsticks. for my money, i'd raher spend a few extra dollars and go with the Lucky Craft slender pointer, especially in the 112 size. check out some of my older posts. I have had some spectacular jerkbait days. What part of the river are you planning on fishing? Some weekneds, the C&R area is crowded, but most days, you'll b the only one there. I will say two of my favorite spots are both outside the C&r area by Rim Shoals.
  14. the basswishes.com site is a winner. thanks for the tip. I have also had lots of luck with the lucky craft slender pointer 112. The megabass is my favorite by a hair, but I favor the lucky craft over the Mcstick. now, I will say I am still in the evaluation period with it, and am no expert, but so far it would rank third on my list, although my bait monkey says I need all colors of the Mcstick to make a fair evaluation. I don't ever hear many folks comment on them, but hey always work good for me and run true out of the box. They are at a price level between the title baits. Do any of you Table Rock guys use these?
  15. I went and checked out the #1 guide series boats and they are really pretty nice. they have a little different hull than the supremes, but the finish level appears to be pretty close. they are all hand laid which I like. it really cuts down on weight. the wait time is around a month or less. A fully loaded one is much less than supreme was, so I think they are on the right track. I am going to run one next week, so I'll report back then
  16. I will check that out. Anyone have one or know anyone that does, or maybe who makes them? But after hearing that whitewater, my interest went way down and it seems like I may have noticed that before but could not remember which boat did that. The New Shawnees may be the way to go for light and strong being all hand laid and using a newer woven material that reduces weight and layers. I wiould really like to run one with the flat balsa floor and see how they do with a 25. Teh old boat I used to run would fly and was very stable witht he runnersin the floor. Sounds like about a 2 month wait or so for them. The #1 guide series are essentially the same as supreme L42 & L48. They look super nice and the guys I talked to, Roy & Harley Carlsen seemed to really want to build a quality boat and had a nice set up to do so. they are laid up with a chopper gun(assume) and may weigh a little more, but have excellent finish levels But they are new and I would like to get more background on them and maybe run one as well. I have looked at numerous other guys building a few here and there (J&S , D&D) but those are just a little too minimal for what i am wanting and to be fair seem to be priced right for what they are. I am trying to upgrade from a supreme 2000(L42) not go the other direction
  17. I used to have an old champion. good boat, but I had to fix the motor block on mine a couple of times. It was lightning fast with a 25 though. I am looking for a minimum 48 inch boat, and wider if possible. The Raven i saw looked wider. does anyone have the info on them. I would like to take a closer look
  18. I guess you run two different boats.
  19. Do you fish on the White mainly? What type of Jet are you running and on which boat. I have a buddy in the market for one and am just curious.
  20. I saw one at carson & hodges in Bull Shoals, but it was sold. Who is building those? It did look pretty nice, but I did not know if they were a fly by night operation or not. it looked like a 54 or 60 inch boat. would like to run one to see how they do. I went and looked at the shawnees today and i think they are on the right track and the new owner was really informative and seems to really stand behind his product. The down side was that they did not have any of the flat floor boats to look at until the end of the month, so I will go back and check those out. They are 48 inch bottoms.
  21. also I fish on high water 90% of the time. I would of had the transom cut down on that boat, but it was not set up the way I like mine.
  22. I have hated every jet I ever driven. no offense, just not for me. I bought 2 new 25 merc 2 strokes prop motors just to lastg me aboout 10 years. I checked out some jets. found new in box 2005 25/20 2 strokes merc for $3000. four stroke 30's were around $4000-$4500. if you ask me, that is riduclous
  23. Where on Walker road is the shop? The last Shawnee I looked at appeared to have been finished by a little kid on summer break, but i think that was before the new owner, so I would be willing to give them anotehr chance. anyone with any experience with topwater out there?
  24. This is fact. Factory is closed/doors locked. I just sold the supreme I won in the 2009 tourney. Bet it was one of the last ones they made. Brought $6700, but was set up for a jet which is useless to me. called to have it modified for prop motor and chad told me the doors were closed. ANyway, I'm in the market for a new boat. Like the looks of the topwater, but it is only 44 inches wide which is just a little wider than my 2000 series supreme, so not much of an upgrade. Around $6500 boat & trailer. Also been looking at the #1 guide series built by roy & harley carlsen. they are basically a supreme L48 as roy built the original supreme mold. probably about the same price range depending on what you get put into on on them. The thing that makes these boats so much are those ez loader trailers. They are basically $1500 or so, which i think is high for such a small trailer. I mean we are only talking a 500 pound boat. I have had my last two trailers built for around $600, so may try to go that way again. What are the shawnees running price wise right now. Are they building a 60 inch boat? It used to be the commisary model I think.
  25. Bulll shoals lake boat dock has brand new yamaha 9.9s for around $1900. For about $100, these motors can be converted to a 15 hp. They come with warranty.
