  1. I was guilty on that. I am one of the feet draggers. But Duane did a great job and I hope I can do the same.
  2. It always seems that most of the bigger fish are up towards the hatchery. I would start out in that area. The problem you have is everyone that is looking for a bigger fish is going to be targeting them in that area as well. Most of the big fish I have seen caught, but not all, have came from sight fishing to them. Using a lot of big streamers and just working the fish. A chamois worm or a egg pattern have produced some nice fish as well. Get there early and spot some fish and then do your best to get them to bite. Sight fishing isn't for everyone but I have always loved it.
  3. Always dodging my questions. Can I bribe you with beer?
  4. Thanks guys. I have updated the list.
  5. That's really cool. You need to give me some tying classes.
  6. Thanks guys. We are already half way to the 12 we need.
  7. Yeah I thought it up all by myself!!
  8. I agree with Eric. Except that he is still using that sissy spinning gear. I guess only real smallmouth guys use fly rods.
  9. It's time to start another fly swap. Here are the details. Any Warm Water pattern Limited to 12 participants Tie up a dozen flies Include a dozen recipe cards that include the name of the fly and your name Mail them to me by Jan 1st along with a self addressed stamped envelope so I can return your 11 new flies plus one that you tied Once you are signed up I will PM you my address I know this is giving this swap a long time but that will also allow some to bring them to the New Years Day trip at Taney. I have been working on setting up a little area for photographing flies so I will photograph all the flies and post them with the recipes once I receive them. This will give me some good practice at shooting flies. Here's the list we have so far. 1. Flysmallie - Squirrel Frog 2. duckydoty - TBD - RECEIVED 3. Ness - Some kind of popper. 4. jjtroutbum - Some kind of hopper - RECEIVED 5. Wheatenhiemer - TBD - RECEIVED 6. mike h - Black Scorpion - RECEIVED 7. DaddyO - Schminnow - RECEIVED 8. 10. WOW. I stepped into that one didn't I. What the heck, I'll do it. I'll start another thread in the Fly Swap section. Were you just sitting there waiting for me to do something stupid? Usually doesn't take long.
  11. Heck Ness, we've had those forever.
  12. We've done a few on here in the past. All we need is someone to host the swap and a specific type of fly to tie. We even have a Fly Swap section of the forum. I vote we do a warm water pattern. But that's just my style. I would be up for doing one, might even be talked into hosting.
  13. Steve Smith is the biscuits and gravy provider. Here is a link to his invitation. Biscuits & Gravy
  14. The weather for Friday is looking great. Hope everyone will still be able to make it. Wheatenhiemer, CS Huntley and I, plus some guy that Kevin works with, will be pulling out of Springburg around 6 or so. Consider that your one and only warning. Don't think we will make breakfast, I know those B's & G's go pretty fast, but we will around somewhere begging for flies and pushing people in the water. We will be in the Wheatenhiemer Custom Pacer Station Wagon, so you can't miss us.
  15. Happy Birthday guys. Hope you have a wonderful day.
  16. I was told that they could not dye it pure white, something to do with the type of hair. The rabbit hair will not fall out. Yes you can pluck it out fairly easy but trust me it will stay on the skin as well as the squirrel. Chamois will work. You can get it at a lot of craft stores (which is also a good source for a lot of things that can be used for tying) or a specialty leather store.
  17. White squirrel hair? I've never seen it. I have natural, black, brown, orange, olive, chartuese and purple. If you find some that is pure white let me know and I will buy it. Try some of the smaller rabbit strips.
  18. I am also a douchebag and I know where to get the good tequila too.
  19. So if they are not following the rules now, what's going to make them follow the new rules in the future. The only one I can vote yes on is increasing fines.
  20. Oh my Dano, I can't believe you are quoting Spongebob! That's hilarious. Nice boat Zack, I'm jealous.
  21. Ok, so this thing is supposed to imitate a crawfish right? And the plastic trailer would imitate the claws? Well if that is true then why are the antennae coming out of it's butt anyway? Either way it's a great looking jig. I don't know if a smallmouth thinks it's a crawfish or not though. And I don't really think they care. If it looks alive, a smallmouth will probably eat it. Bass are pigs.
  22. Gee Buzz, do you have to bring Chief with you. Just kidding, looking forward to meeting all of you.
  23. How would you test the DO? Is there a simple way to do that? Now carry on with your butthole talk. And I think someone needs to drug test Cricket again.
  24. The same fly that has been in there for about a month. I'm never ready to go. Hey Duane, can I borrow your fly box for a second???
  25. And it's always easier for them to look up.
