  1. Cricket, Cricket, Cricket.......You can't be putting that kind of stuff in print. Now it's out there forever. She might hunt you down and kill you.
  2. Amp's been doing his homework. I haven't fished the James by Rivercut but I've always wanted to. I love linden when you can get away from the crowd and there are some nice fish in there. A couple of years ago I chased a huge smallmouth for a couple of months. I would say a 3-4 lb fish. One day every weekend I would get up early and he was always right next to this lay down. He would follow a fly but never found anything that he would take but I had a lot of great mornings out there just hanging out with that one fish. Key to Linden is get there early, real early. Hit the water as soon as you can see to fish and head to the house when the retards start showing up. I might just have to do that again soon. You have found some good spots. However, there are a lot more within the same distance of Springfield. Keep searching, that's half the fun.
  3. Dude. You know I can't fit in no Miata. I'm headed to the beach for a week I'll call you when I get back and we'll go somewhere.
  4. A couple of years ago I started using Sufix Elite Lo-vis Green in 6 and 8 lb test. It's good line. I've also been using the same thing on my fly rod as a leader for smallmouth.
  5. I love chug bugs. I always have one tied on at the lake and usually cast if a few times of and on throughout the day. I rarely use on on the river. And I think that's pretty stupid of me. But I can change.
  6. Cool pics Don. I really like the one where the water just hasn't made it all the way down. Sounds like you had a great day.
  7. Dude, that's just a Pacer station wagon. Have you ever had a car that was previously owned by a Man? Give me a shout we need to fish.
  8. Gurglers and all variations are great. I've even caught a 13" crappie on a white gurgler. Never leave home without them.
  9. Sorry to hear about that Terry. Good luck, we all know you will come out on top.
  10. Oh that sold it right there. I have to have one.
  11. I have the G3's and love them. They are expensive but they are very nice.
  12. Yeah I really hate all the boats. It would be fine if they were fisherman just running up or down river to do some fishing but most on the Current just seem like they are out joyriding. Some of them have some nice "hood ornaments" laying in the front of them though. Thanks for the info on the Jacks KC. We have considered doing the Alley to Two Rivers but were unsure if that area would be even more populated than the rest since it goes right through Eminence. Plus we figured the halfway point (or a little farther) would put us right in the middle of everyone when we camped Saturday night. I really wish we could float during the week but our schedules just won't allow it this year.
  13. Looking for some recommendations on what section of the river to float to get into some good smallmouth fishing on a two day float. We have floated from Round Spring to Two Rivers several years back and had some of the best smallmouth fishing that we have experienced in all of our floats. The only negative was the boats running up and down the river but we know what we are getting into by going back so we are prepared to live with that. And really it's getting just as bad on a lot of other rivers. We have our own canoes and will be shuttling ourselves so we are not restricted by any of that. This will be our 8th year of floating together and I'm not sure why we chose the Current again but we did. Actually we had looked at doing the Jacks Fork but since other obligations have pushed this trip into middle July we are not sure that this would be the best bet for us. We are not sure about the float from Alley down to Two Rivers and if there would be a secluded garvel bar to camp on at night. We were also worried about going above Alley this late in the year. I absolutely love the idea of fishing up there, I just don't want to spend all my time dragging my canoe through low water. We would also consider another river if anyone has any ideas. We typically don't do anything over 16 to 18 miles for the two days. We stop way to much to fish for it to be any longer of a float. Thanks for any input.
  14. We caught some white bass up around Shelvin Rock last week and I thought they were a long ways up. But they were all about that 5 inch size that you are talking about. Was all of your fishing done below the dam?

    Rsbreth?

If you haven't been below Hootentown you should try the float from Kerr to Galena. It's an easy one day float. Call James River Outfitters if you need a canoe or shuttle, they do a great job. 417-357-6443
  16. Uh, what I said earlier was all just a joke, but this statement is very true. But it seems like all of our waters bring out some of the best people. True story. A few years back me and a buddy floated Flat Creek. About half-way through our adventure we run across this lady, a big lady, missing most of her teeth. Not trying to be rude, I'm a big guy, just trying to paint the picture. She hollers out at us; "Hey, have you guys seen a man and a mexican in a canoe" While a billion questions went through my mind the only thing I could get out was "Nope". I mean what kind of question was that, a man and a mexican?? Was the mexican also a man? So shouldn't that be two men or two guys? Or maybe a man and a lady? I will never forget the 10 second conversation that we had. Paddle faster, I hear banjos.
  17. Starts up around Cassville and dumps into Table Rock up above Cape Fair with the James. But I'm telling you it's a wasted trip. Lots of sharks too.
  18. That's the second time in 24 hrs that someone has mentioned smallmouth in Flat Creek. I'm telling you guys there are just not that many smallmouth in Flat Creek. Lots and lots of alligators though. Welcome to the forum Amp.
  19. I'm not sure that anyone will answer that question. I know which ones I think are the best but that may be very different from what somebody else thinks. One thing that two of my favorite waters have in common is there are no Canoe outfitters on them. Maybe that narrows it down, maybe not.
  20. Sorry Ozark Trout Fisher, didn't know that I turned it into a Catch and Release debate. I was just trying to state that if you don't like eating fish with parasites then quit filleting them. I have kept a few smallies in the past, mostly out of the area lakes, and may keep a few in the future. However when I find parasites in any fish I tend to quit keeping them from that particular body of water. Do I like the thought of people keeping "legal" smallmouth from our rivers, not really. Especially the smallmouth that take a long time to grown in our streams and rivers. But I will never object to someone doing something that is in their legal right. There are too many other problems in our waters that need to be addressed. Again I apologize if anyone thought I was trying to start a catch and release debate. Because I really don't care if you keep your fish if they are legal. Eat up.
  21. Great pics Phil. Looks like everyone had a great time.
  22. If you don't fillet them you will never find the parasites. Just a thought.
  23. Nice fish.

I think Terry has changed his ways. I saw him in the store the other day with a bunch of CD's. I could only make out a couple of the names. He had the Black Eyed Peas and some Lady GaGa.
