  1. C'mon, you can do it. I'll be there, just not sure what to bring. I'll figure out something.
  2. You will bring the seahorses Leonard or we are pushing that van in the river.
  3. Well since you are going with me I guess I'll try to answer you. You need some waders. But if you don't have any then I guess you can wear shorts but I bet it will be very cold. I plan on catching a very large fish right off the bat so you can use mine after that!! If we need a boat we are in trouble. I can take my Dad's boat but I have agreed to never take any of his boats up in a river ever again (long story, still not very funny). And yes we are going to need some Ark fishing licenses. Do they have a trout stamp?? If you have some free time next week call me and maybe we can run down there and check things out.
  4. The 37th??? Hmmmmmmmm, I'll have to check ducky. I'll call you on the 36th to let you know for sure. Isn't that a Thursday?
  5. Lake changes its fees Paying for Table Rock Lake The Corps-maintained area tries to defray costs while being fair. John Taylor News-Leader A change in use fees at public-use areas on Table Rock Lake is being described as an effort to make the fee structure more fair to visitors. "We've had a day-use fee in the past, and we've switched to an area fee," Table Rock ranger Larry Hurley said. "The main reason we've done that is to help defray some of the costs of operating our parks and recreation areas. It's going to be a little fairer to our customers." Fees going into effect April 1 include a fee of $4 per vehicle per day, which is a $2 increase. There will be a new $1 fee for people on foot. Tamara Hall of Branson said she and her family usually visit Moonshine Beach — one of the public-use areas affected — several times a year. She said the increase would not prevent her from enjoying time at the lake this summer. "That's OK," said Hall. "It's pretty clean, and we enjoy going there." The beach does not open for use until May 15. The beginning of fee season at other Corps-maintained public-use areas varies from April 1 to May 1. In addition to Moonshine Beach, use fees will be charged at Indian Point, Cape Fair, Aunt's Creek, Mill Creek, Baxter, Old Highway 86, Long Creek, Cricket Creek, Viola, Viney Creek, Campbell Point, Big M and Eagle Rock public-use areas. Don Hoeck of Branson, who was watching his 10-year-old son, Kaleb, fish Saturday at Table Rock Lake State Park near Moonshine Beach, said the fee change would not affect him. He and his son mainly visit the state park, which is not included in the fee increase. "It would be a hardship for people who frequent the beach," he said. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has charged use fees at all of its lakes in the Little Rock District for several years to help defray operating and maintenance costs at campground, boat ramps and other facilities, district spokesman P.J. Spaul said. "We don't charge entrance fees, for the most part," he said. "You can come in the park and sightsee, or whatever, but we do charge a fee for boat launchings and swimming." People who use public use areas to launch boats or for other activities might consider purchasing a $30 yearly pass that can be used not only at Table Rock, but at other corps facilities, he said. The corps also gives a 50 percent discount to people using Golden Age Passport, Golden Access Passport, America the Beautiful Senior Passport and the America the Beautiful Access Passport, Spaul said. "People who have them, those passports are good for a lifetime, and we do honor them," he said. While the fees apply to developed use areas, the fees aren't charged in less developed areas at Corps lakes, Spaul said. Maria Moreno of Oklahoma City, who was visiting Table Rock Lake Saturday, said she would be more willing to pay the use fees as a tourist than if she lived near the lake. Her brother, Fidel Moreno, also of Oklahoma City, indicated the scenery alone at the lake would be worth the price. "I'm willing to pay to watch something beautiful," he said. Kenneth and Janice Fangman were visiting Saturday from Iowa. Janice Fangman said she would not have a problem with paying a fee as long as the money was being used for the betterment of the parks. "That's normal to have to do that," added Kenneth Fangman. Fees will not be charged to marina slip holders or marina customers not using areas outside of marina use areas. Current annual pass holders and registered overnight campers will be exempt from paying the fee. Visitors to campsites will be required to pay the fee.
  6. Kicknbass I will agree that there are not enough places to eat at the Landing. We were there saturday as well and had a hard time getting any lunch. It seemed that all the places that the kids wanted to eat were at least an hour wait you couldn't even get into the door at Subway. Ended up eating at the mexican place to the right of the fountains. It was good and the kids got to watch the fountain from their patio.
  7. Dano, I have the whole skin that I got at BCO. I have not had any problem tying them. To me they seem real quick and easy. Making the first turn from the rear tie in point is sometimes a little tricky for me, it wants to slip around the hook, but I bet a little super glue would solve that. This is a great little fly that I am very thankful for Leonard getting me hooked on earlier this year. I was able to salvage a trip to Roaring River earlier this week by tying one on. I took my 8 & 13 year old daughters down there to catch their first trout and first fish on a fly rod. We tried many things with very little success. When they got bored I whipped out the pine squirrel and told them to give me a minute before we left. My 8 year old had the chance to land 3 fish in the 12 to 14 inch range. She struggled handling the fish on a fly rod but got the hang of it pretty quickly. My oldest was very bored and was sitting on the bridge by the park store. I walked down to the last hole before the bridge and started talking to her while I fished. I caught one at the top of the hole and impressed some young boys who I think were having trouble catching fish since she was there watching them. I walked down closer to the bridge and was casting and talking to her when I saw a fish turn on the squirrel. I set the hook, felt the fish and then hollered at her. She ran over and grabbed the rod. As I handed her the rod I turned to look at the fish. I could tell that it was a nicer fish and I also noticed something else odd. The rod tip was over my right shoulder and it looked like she was shaking the rod. I turned to look at my daughter and she was doing her best to hang on to the rod behind the reel . I showed her to hold it by the cork grip in front and the battle continued. She drew quite a crowd and was pretty proud when she finally landed her first trout. Plus it was a nice fish. Probably an 18 inch fish with one of the fattest bellies I have seen on a trout. I tried to get her to hold it so I could take a picture but she wasn't having any of that!! She was just happy that she showed those boys a thing or two about catching fish.
  8. Phil, The site looks great. I have played around with these carts for a couple of years. You have done a nice job and it will get easier with time. One thing that I did notice is that the checkout is not secure. I took it all the way to the point of where it asks for your credit card information and still it was not listed as being secure. This could just be a problem with your certificate or where this page is placed in relation to it.
  9. Phil, it's up by Lake of the Ozarks. On the map I have it's just a little southwest of Stover. It is listed as Catch & Release. Tha's the only one in Missouri that I know of. Never been there but I have some customers up around there that I haven't seen in awhile.
  10. I know a lot of you are upset about this, but it's 5 freakin dollars. You've spent tens of thousands of dollars on a boat and a truck to get it there. Probably $100 per trip on gas. $50 on food and refreshments. Heck we even spend $18.95 on a Tim Hughes Custom stickbait (money well spent I might add). You can drive the extra 10 to 15 miles to get to the free or cheaper ramps but remember gas is around $2.50 per gallon. I'm not trying to start an argument with anyone, just trying to put it in perspective. It is a nice facility and they do take very good care of it. $5.00 is still cheaper than going to a movie and it's a hell of a lot more rewarding. I took my wife and daughters to dinner and a movie a couple of weeks ago. That was a quick $100.00. Yeah a hundred freakin dollars to go eat and see a movie. And now you tell me that I could have taken them to the lake and spent the entire day for $5.00, oh yeah, I don't have a problem with that.
  11. I have one space left. Me, MrDucky and a non-forum member.
  12. Me & MrDucky still need one.
  13. Thanks guys. I didn't get to go fishing, but I did get to watch my oldest play volleyball all day. I had a very good day. And even though I called to check the generation many times, I had a lot of fun. Yeah Go Chiefs!! One good thing about being born in March, they will never have the chance to disappoint me on my birthday. Happy Birthday Murdoc!!!
  14. I've seen them in Backcountry Outfitters.
  15. You better bring about 400 dogs. You know Ducky's gonna have a couple dozen. I ordered a Coors once at a Cards game. This little old lady working the concession chewed my butt good. It was hilarious.
  16. Keep in mind that where ever you go you can always find a good place to catch some smallmouth. They may not be the trout that you are looking for but it would be a perfect fix if the tailwater that you find is too much for wading.
  17. Well good luck to all of you that are going. I hope you have a good time. I was trying to get away and go but I gotta play soccer (volleyball) mom on Saturday. Nothing like leaving your house at 7am on a Saturday with six 13 year old girls and drive an hour or two to a volleyball tournament. If I'm lucky I'll get home before it gets dark. Heck of a way to spend your birthday, but I do love to watch them play.
  18. Thanks for the info Terry. I've often thought about doing the casting class at Bass Pro. Would be good for the girls too. I have never taken a casting class, I'm self taught that's why I'm so good at it . Do you have the dates for the conclave? And what are the age limits? I have a 13 year old daughter that would probably enjoy this as well.
  19. Good job Ducky family, all fly fisherpeople too. (Did you catch that MrsDucky, I didn't call you a fisherMAN ). Got a 8 year old girl that is begging me to teach her to fly fish. She's not educated enough to know that I have no idea what I'm doing. Gonna try to take her to Roaring River next week to see if she can catch a trout on her zebco first.
  20. If the shoe fits.........
  21. We are also 100% sure you will find some info you don't need, but that's all part of the fun. Welcome to the site.
  22. Well did you catch anything??
  23. Thanks MrDucky. I got a soft spot for little girls and anything we can do to help one out is worth while. Especially if we get to fish while doing it. I'll get in touch with you as this gets closer. I had another guy confirm that he was going to go. He's not an OAF member, but he will be soon. I still have one guy on the fence so we could use one more for our team, unless Don wants to fish with us. Don you are more than welcome to be a part of this with us. I will be driving down anyway, so if anyone wants to ride along you are more than welcome. I can pick you up or meet you along the way.
  24. The first two weekend in June are bad for me. Taking the family to the beach, might even do a little offshore fishing. Unless you guys are trying to avoid me........Then it would be a perfect time
