  1. Flysmallie is currently calculating child support payments and looking at the help wanted adds to decide if he will be able to fish on Thursday..............it's not looking so good
  2. Dang Ducky. I was going to go to Roaring River on Friday. Don't know if I can swing it tommorow. How late are you going to be there?
  3. Well quit lurking and join in on the fun!!
  4. I'll be down sometime Friday morning. I drive a Pewter Jimmy with "FOR SALE" signs on it (yeah nobody wants to buy it and it's a really good truck). But I do have a tendency to wander off quite a ways from my truck. Look for a big guy with a Chiefs hat. That's me. Ronnie
  5. Leonard has the best coffee creamer I have found!!
  6. Cool. I love a new hat!!! Besides my Chiefs hat is starting to look really bad and a little embarasing to wear
  7. Ok Dano, first you were pushing those eagle claw rods on us, now mini ballon connectors! Where will it end?? These balloons still seem a little large to me. Has everybody had good results with them?
  8. Catch-and-Release Season includes Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday only. It goes through the 2nd Monday in Feb. Fishing is from 8 am to 4 pm. I'm thinking about going this Friday. Anybody else going to be there?
  9. Got them all finished up tonight. I have plenty if we are letting in Mizzouflyfisher's dad, I have no problems with that. By the way, I don't want anyone laughing and pointing at my pattern . It really works if it's fished right. It is for the smallies but I'm starting to wonder if one of those big old browns would like it??
  10. I've been baptized on a fishing trip more than once. Besides I like my odds of being one of the ones laughing!!
  11. Welcome aboard Skip. Enjoy the ride. Lots of great people and information here. Flysmallie
  12. Well you do live in Oklahoma for crying out loud!! Just kidding, I was born in Oklahoma and lived there until I was 17.
  13. This is coming from a guy that apparently lives in a fish bowl!! What's up Russ. I have ya some leeches ready next time we run into each other.
  14. Glad to see the Ducky family back in action. This is a pretty special group of people and Phil is one of the greatest guys I have ever met. I don't think that John and Leonard should be allowed to go fishing anymore without some adult supervision. I guess that I could volunteer for that job if nobody else wants it .
  15. I've been using a Fishpond Gore Range Tech Pack the last few trips. It has the zip down fly bench style built in fly boxes. It also has mesh backing for ventilation which should make it a lot cooler in the summer. The Fishpond products are all really nice. http://www.fishpondusa.com/gorerange.cfm
  16. Not so fast troutchaser, I'm trying really hard for that award.
  17. On New Years Day I saw a guy fishing the rebar hole while talking on the phone. It was horrible to watch him trying to land a fish while still trying to talk. I was hoping the thing would fall in the water but it never did. Would is be bad stream etiquette to start throwing rocks at this point
  18. I would have to agree 100% with Crippled Caddis. It's all part of the experience of being outdoors.
  19. Almost all of the ones I use while smallmouth fishing have a cone head with lead wrapped just to keep it down where the fish are. In slower water I will fish them with no head and very little lead. I want it to suspend as much as possible when it's stopped. The smaller one that I use for trout are about 50/50. I think it depends more on my mood when I sit down to tie rather than if I think I will need the additional weight. It does add a little extra flash that I seem to be looking for at times. I don't think the fish really care. If you have just as much confidence in them without the beadhead, then you probably won't notice a difference. But if you feel that they really need that bead to catch fish, then don't skimp or you will just end up with a bunch of boogers that you will not fish since you have no confidence in them. I've learned one really important thing in this life of fishing. You must have confidence in the bait/lure/fly that you are using. Zero confidence = zero success.
  20. Sometimes referred to as the Witness Relocation Program!!
  21. It's been sleeting and snowing off & on. The side streets are covered. The big factor may be the wind. The guy that lives across the street from us spent a couple of hours getting a tree in his front yard back into shape from the ice storm. He amazingly had it looking pretty good. I looked out a little while ago and the whole tree is down. The wind is blowing pretty good and most of the trees still have a fair amount of ice on them. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power stays on.
  22. Well I didn't get to go anyway. Wife's Grandad was having trouble breathing this morning. Turned out to just be a pulled muscle just under his ribs.
  23. Well you wouldn't think so but that's what the site says. I'm still going to go by and check it out if I can get out of Springfield at a decent time this morning. http://www.mostateparks.com/closings.htm
  24. Here is a pic taken from my deck. I think it sums up the gloom that this storm delivered. My whole neighborhood looks like this.
