  1. Chap stick works. Or....
  2. Just make sure that signage states that these fish must be consumed. We are going to have a real problem if people are going to start advocating tossing game fish on the bank. And I mean a serious problem. You can waste your time within the rules.
  3. The casino thing has been beaten to death in the area. Go back and look at that history. It will not happen.
  4. Well you have changed yours numerous times over the years so you are probably due.
  5. OneNote is available on iPhone. But it’s search capabilities aren’t as good as a spreadsheet.
  6. Try Google Sheets. It’s a spreadsheet like Excel but a little simpler. You would be able to create the data fields that interest you, and completely customize it to fit your needs. It’s available offline but also cloud based so you can access your information from any device. Check it out and if you need some help figuring it out or setting up your sheet send me a PM. I’m a spreadsheet nerd.
  7. Who cares if they were offended. At least they know.
  8. And they probably had no idea that they were doing anything wrong.
  9. Yep. If you are a bigger is better guy then you win. But if you want to go out and catch a nice size limit in a regular basis OK wins.
  10. It’s what you turned it into. I’m done with the holier than thou crowd. Peace.
  11. That’s what I’m saying!
  12. Save your time. Our goals are obviously different. I don’t need a big fish to prove myself.
  13. LOZ doesn't compare to lakes in the south. Walleye fishing does not compare to walleye fishing in the north. Hell it doesn't even compare to Walleye fishing in Oklahoma. Same for catfishing, there are way better places to do it. Again Oklahoma is one of those and they ALLOW noodling.
  14. It still does, unless they all died in the last few years. Three years ago I was still catching the same quality smallmouth on the same banks using the same techniques I used in the late 80's. And it hasn't been that long ago that I saw two smallmouth that would have easily surpassed the current state record.
  15. You are right it is a matter of opinion. But you could also say the same thing about largemouth bass fishing, catfishing, crappie fishing, walleye fishing, trout fishing. ALL of those could be considered better someplace else, depending on your opinion of what makes it better. But have you noticed that when you go to these other locations that the locals aren't as impressed as you are? You can go to Texas and catch a 10 pound largemouth and they are like, ehhh, it's pretty good. The same way we would look at a 6 or 7 pound bass around here. So while you may be catching better fish than you would here you really aren't doing anything special. In my opinion it just cheapens the whole deal. I have been fortunate enough to fish in a lot of different locations, and have caught some nice fish doing it. But in my opinion it doesn't get any better than fishing in the Ozarks. It all depends on your goals. While catching a nice, big fish is on everyone's list of goals some of us have it pretty far down the list. Not saying that's better or worse, just saying it's different.
  16. Didn't you hear? It's now illegal to provide that information due to the OAF Constitution.
  17. In this area it's been the trashing of the accesses and partying that goes on there. People just get fed up with it and they get shut down.
  18. In my opinion fish mounts are kind of dumb. I see it for a lodge, or BPS, or whatever but just to mount one because it's a goodun is dumb. A nicely done picture would be more valuable to me. My dad had a couple of mounts done in his lifetime and as he got older he regretted it. So much that they weren't even displayed in the end. After he passed I rescued them and have them in my office but I would much rather have a picture of him holding them.
  19. Yeah we don’t need anyone getting dead on the trip. I bet we float, catch some fish, eat, and see nobody.
  20. Why would I need to ask someone if it’s okay to do something totally legal. They are the law breakers, not me. I’m in. If they want to unlawfully arrest me for trespassing I will willingly let them. Be nice to own a piece of land on that river anyways.
  21. That somebody is actually Cricket. At least he's the one most dialed in to them that I have seen. My perspective is a bit different. My favorite spots are on some very popular rivers that get fished hard. They still produce fish. More pressure hasn't hurt them over the last twenty years even with known poaching. Or maybe I've just gotten better? (doubtful) Plus my spots that I keep to myself aren't really in jeopardy if I shared them with everyone. Because I can bet most of you would never go in there and that just means it way too difficult for a bunch of poaching. True jungle fishing. But probably the biggest reason I will continue to share is because I tend to move on rather quickly. Good spots are fun to find so I'm always on the search and looking for new things. I guess that's what I enjoy most about this adventure, finding those spots. And it doesn't have to be a whole river, or run, it can just be a small little spot, that may not be there when I do return. So if you don't want me to know your spots because I'm deemed a squealer then fine. I can respect that. My dad once told me, "you are better when you find your own fish". It wasn't just some general statement, he was talking directly to me. So that's what I try to do. That's what everybody should do. But I don't mind giving someone new a kick in the right direction.
  22. I share what I want. Nobody can stop me from doing that.
  23. Catch one of every sunfish in the Ozarks? Okay. Anybody have a list of what that is and the best place to find them?
  24. Always been quite a bit of fishing when I've made it.
