  1. That should be able to pull in some really "fat porker" fish!
  2. The colors on that fish are great. Sounds like a good time - too bad about the wind.
  3. They release browns several times / year in Bennett and the river. I don't know the numbers, but one fall I think there were 5,000 browns released? At least that's what a board in the park store had on it - not certain of the numbers but it was high compared to periodic rainbow releases in the river of 300 fish or various numbers. Making the park a wild stream would be good for those that like catch and release, but there are too many people and kids that like to go and bait a hook. With all the lodging and established concerns, they would have to justify for the masses and continue as is.
  4. Yeah, yeah - rub it in! ALL of your days are those days that nothing can go wrong with fishing, you are always hooking big fish! Congrats on the catches, what a shame the nice one didn't make the pic.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Just below the dam for Table Rock is a flooded river channel called Lake Taneycomo, a great place for fly fishing if you are interested in that.
  6. Very nice, the colors are rich on that male like they are thinking about a spawn. Congrats on the double 20"ers.
  7. Maybe people's fears are coming true and the reason for the run on any ammunition they can find: http://www.theshootist.net/2009/03/dod-end...d-military.html
  8. Welcome!
  9. Is the river muddy now? Sounds like it from your report.
  10. The cold weather may keep some at home, it was pretty brutal opening weekend and cold temps this week. The water levels are better this year where high water levels kept people away before? What size tippet were you using that broke off?
  11. Glad to hear you are doing better. Excellent outlook and attitude, I know with today's technology and medical practices you should be up and walking. Glad to hear you can hit the water. That will do a lot for the mental side for everyone.
  12. Welcome to the forum!
  13. Welcome!
  14. When you buy your Trout Park daily tag for $3 for adults, ask about the kids. Kids cost $2 each, I don't think they need a daily state fishing fee? They will know when you purchase your daily tags.
  15. Welcome to the forum. That sounds pretty wild having the Asian carp jump around like that, I have seen videos of people bowfishing from the back of boats while the carp are jumping.
  16. Very nice fish, thanks for posting and congrats!
  17. Sorry it wasn't more productive. Usually at the opening it is pretty easy to hook up a lot of fish... The only thing I can think is maybe your tippet was too large? I guess everyone was fly fishing? Were they getting a perfect drift? If they weren't working the top, the other thing is sometimes there is not enough weight to get your fly down. Having it on the bottom will make a big difference vs just having it 6" off the bottom. If you see someone catching a lot, they will probably be glad to help or even give you a fly they are catching them on.
  18. I have a lot of the floss I got from a craft store. But what about the Trout Line nymph skin ... that is what I haven't seen before? It looks like the synthetic scud backing, but with the camo black coloration. Wondering where you can find that?
  19. Bravo! That's great to help someone learn how to catch them, especially from coming so far out of state.
  20. Where did you find the thread for the gills and the body wrap? I haven't looked for those specifically, but don't recall ever seeing that type. It looks tasty to me, I hope the trout like it and you catch a lot.
  21. Looks like a great time. I haven't tried a Blue Fox or spinning equipment, but I have heard a lot of good things about their results. That's good to finally hook up again after that many years.
  22. The warmer temps are nice for the evening fishing. Congrats on the catch.
  23. Not to debate, but someone that shoots black powder in a .45 cal or .50 cal and shoots a big buck will leave the animal alone because those ballistics may not be as effective as other centerfire ammo. Probably everyone has a .30-06, many were brought home from WWII and continued as an effective hunting round. There have been a lot of ballistics developed since then. A human is approximately 200 lbs as are deer or other game. So an effective round on game can have devastating effects on humans. President Regan was shot with a .22 caliber! That was a serious injury but he pulled through it. Bottom line, I don't want to be hit with any round. There are many hunting applications for high capacity clips and guns for management and control - feral hogs for example. The problem with trying to identify which weapons can be used to kill "humans" is the list can include every caliber and type of gun. I am for STRONG punishment for any offenses with the use of firearms. In my opinion, we want to protect the criminals saying they had a bad childhood so we need to control the rest of the public with anti gun legislation instead. There will always be some whacko that goes off the deep end. I think it is good for a criminal to think if they decide to break into someone's home there is a VERY good chance there is a high capacity clip in a firearm that will be pointed in their direction. Too bad society does have criminals in it, but I don't want to be a statistic.
  24. Those are some great looking fish! Brrr, the snow makes it look that much colder.
