This time of year....eggs, eggs, and more eggs. The bugs that Joshua mentioned are good choices as well. If you don't wanna get a headache by staring at a bobber all morning, put on a slumpbuster or big wooly bugger on a short leader and strip 'em back to ya. It can be a lot of fun versus the bobber grind when its on. Keep an assortment of midges in different sizes and colors. Good luck!!

Keep the GoPro goodness coming! Love seeing other members getting involved with filming their trips! We are really enjoying filming our trips and trying to get a little more serious about it this year. Its amazing what you can do with that tiny little camera. I second the PowerDirector 10 software, its what I'm using to edit our stuff. Its not free by any means but its not terribly expensive. Its very powerful and easy to use.

Our Latest Video From The White/norfork Rivers...
OKFlyFisher44 replied to OKFlyFisher44's topic in White River
I use PowerDirector 10 as well. Great program. Easy to use. On the duck hunting topic, I just finished our 1st waterfowl hunting video from the past year. Filming hunts is so much harder than fishing and editing hunting footage is a lot more work. Its worth it though. Compiling footage from buddies to make a longer waterfowl video with both duck and goose hunts. It should be pretty cool when its done... -
I have a TFO Clouser 6 wt that I use a TON. Its my exclusive smallmouth rod as it throws streamers and poppers just fine plus it works great for throwing smaller articulated streamers for trout if we are fishing the White, Norfork, or NFOW. Its also my go-to rod for night fishing on Taney or the White. I have a 7wt that just gathers dust now cuz I use the 6wt so much and if i'm throwing big streamers for big trout or stripers, I use my 8wt. 6 wts rule...

Your Videos Will Not Win An Oscar
OKFlyFisher44 replied to joeD's topic in General Angling Discussion
I'm sure the source of this rant is partially due to my 2 recent videos that I posted. Well I apologize that they weren't up to par with your standards. LOL! I wasn't aware we had a film critic on our hands. I will do better next time bud. Don't worry, u will have a chance to see some more so get ready. Good day sir... -
Last August, 5 fishing buddies and myself loaded up 2 trucks, 2 drift boats, and too much gear to spend a week exploring Montana. We took the GoPro and did some filming. I finally sat down and edited the footage. This is what I came up with. I hope you guys enjoy it... http://youtu.be/INKtTvGs3f0 If that doesn't work, go to our blog page and follow the link... http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2013/01/ladies-and-gentlemen-i-give-you-montana.html Thanks guys!

Allen Trout II Fly Reel -Size 1, for 3 - 5 wt rods/lines -new burnt orange color -comes w/ neoprene reel case Got this reel for Christmas and have no use for it. Its brand new and never used. I don't have the box cuz it didn't come with the reel when it was given to me. I have a couple of these Allen reels and they are an amazing value for a sealed disc-drag large arbor fly reel. This is new style Trout reel that they just released recently as well. The Trout II retails for $140 from Allen, plus shipping. Asking $130, free shipping... Paypal only... PM me on here for payment details or email me @ chancemaxville@yahoo.com...

Lir Float 11-13-12
OKFlyFisher44 replied to joshuapaul's topic in Upper and Lower Illinois River (OK)
Just walk in from Marvals and hike upstream, it's not that far. We did it a couple weeks ago. It fished good with small streamers. We were gonna float in the drift boat but they decided not to generate. Total bummer... -
Ditto what Justin said. Tie it in various sizes and color combos. Weighted and unweighted depending on flows. It's a staple lead fly on a tandem nymph rig on the NFOW. Hands down...

Check out the Rio StreamerTip with the 10' clear sink tip. I use this line on my 6wt TFO Clouser rod to throw small and medium sized streamers for trout and smallies. Works great and casts great. I have used my 6wt 150 grain full sink before on the NFOW and it was too much when it's 300-500cfs most of the time. A sink tip is the way to go, like Chris said unless the river gets big!

I am still alive! Just haven't checked the boards lately! Glad to see we have another drifter owner in Ok! I have floated the LIR @ 1-2 units before. It's a perfect river to float at these levels but since the channel is so small, ur moving pretty fast through each section. There r several spots to get out and wade fish. We pushed a bobber and caught fish. Next time, we r gonna throw streamers on sinking lines and see what happens. I haven't floated it on zero units but I have seen most of the river by foot and gets SKINNY in sections. You could do it in the raft but u will have to portage quite a bit and u will be rowing through lots of dead water. I would be nice to be able to fish the gravel pit area though since they closed off public access there. I don't know where u live in OK but there is tons of floating opportunities in the Ozarks for trout and smallies, I know most of them intimately. U might just have to do a little driving.

I know its too late but I'm on my way home from there right now. We stayed over on Norfork all weekend and it fished great. We floated Saturday evening into the night and had a great streamer bite with black or tan. No big browns but plenty of feisty rainbows. For today, wade fished this morning and just pushed a bobber all morning. Eggs, scuds, and purple/black pyscho princes killed the rainbows along with some browns mixed in. Then did an afternoon float once they turned the water on. Once again, black streamers were killer... Don't let it get u down bud, these rivers can be fickle...

GoPros rule... What r u using to edit ur videos?

Our Montana Trip - Full Report W/ Pics And Blogs
OKFlyFisher44 replied to OKFlyFisher44's topic in General Angling Discussion
He ain't kidding either. There is so much to fish in that area, it's not even funny. -
Very cool video! Love seeing some more GoPro videos showing up in the Ozarks! The river looked LOW. I recognized all those areas and they looked soooo skinny. I have never seen that bluff hole we call "The Wall" that low. Can't wait to get back up there. Best wade fishing in the Ozarks, hands down.

Our Montana Trip - Full Report W/ Pics And Blogs
OKFlyFisher44 replied to OKFlyFisher44's topic in General Angling Discussion
Hoping to start on video this weekend... -
So its been a month since the crew and I returned from spending 10 days in Montana. Been waiting to post here till I got all the blog posts finished up so you guys could just check them out the full story and plenty of pics. We had an absolute amazing time, floated some awesome rivers, hiked into some beautiful backcountry places, and caught some fish. Of course, we show up when they had been locked into a month long heat wave so that caused some problems with water levels and temps but that was the only major hitch in the trip. We traveled to the Missoula area and fished the surrounding area then drove over to Craig to fish the Missouri on our final day before coming home. We took our drift boats with us as well. No guides. We did have a little inside help from a friend who works at a fly shop in Missoula. Anyways, check out the links below to our blog for each part of the trip... http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-1.html http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-2.html http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-3.html http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-4.html http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-5.html http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-montana-project-part-6.html Thanks for checking out our pics and blog.
