  1. Anybody heard where some hogs might be lately. I've been thinking about getting out and doing some handgun hunting. I haven't heard any reports about any for a while now, but I'm sure they are still out there.
  2. There are 2 numbers you can call that I have programed into my phone. One is current generation. 417-336-5086. That number tells you current lake level, generation, and tail water level for Table Rock Lake and Beaver lake. You can count on that one being accurate. The other number is pedicted generation schedules. The number is 918-595-6779. You have to request Table Rock and then Todays, Tomorrows, or The Next Days schedule. This is just a prediction and if it is even available still not accurate, but it can give you a guess as to what is going to happen. As far as the best times to go fishing.....When it is raining, and when it is not. Colder weather creates the need for more electricity therefore increasing the chances of generation so milder days i would think increase the chances for the water being shut off.
  3. I guess it just depends on what shirt your wearing
  4. Michael is not a lefty. Those pictures are taken from across the table
  5. Mike Glad to see you on here. We still heading over to Crane soon?
  6. Excellent fish for sure! Nice looking cane too!
  7. Next year we should be a little more on the same schedule. You see, I think she's going to be a guide in Alaska with me this coming season, so we should both have the winter off back here in Missouri and we can both go fishing every day
  8. I have participated in a stream clean up effort over there before. Unbelievable how much trash we picked up. After a full day of clean up I got to fish a little. That could be a very nice place to go if there wasnt soooo much trash. I did roll quite a few rocks while there and the insect population was increadible. I also heard rumors of "locals?" seining the trout out after stockings. It was disturbing to hear of that kind of activity.
  9. She was busy working
  10. Fished up by the hatchery yesterday just out messing around killing some time. Fishing was fair to good and the temps were warm to start and increasingly dropped as evening approched. Started with a downsized BFE or just a little over sized egg on the flats below outlet 1. The fish loved it. I get bored real quick fishing that way so switched over to a sow bug. The fish readily accepted that also. Noticed a lot of activity on the surface so I decided to try and target those fish. I went through every soft hackle color and size I had with only a couple of short takes. Started on the crackle back and finally found the color, size and presentation that they were wanting. Size 14 cream colored crackle back dead drifted with just a few soft strips produced fish after fish. Anything else presented any other way produced zippo for me. Lesson learned....Keep changing color, size, and presentation untill you find what they want.
  11. Looks like they are going to be generating on Taney again all day tomorrow so we'll be headed over to Powersite.
  12. I think he'd at least have a jacket on.
  13. Did you try some "Rolaids"?
  14. I believe the internet can be used in two different ways. The way I like is sharing information. Whats working, where the bite is on and so forth. There are many people on the internet that do not get to fish anywhere close to as much as I do. I was one of those people at one time. I only got a couple of chances a year to go and really appreciated any help I could get from anywhere to make my few trips a year a little more productive because lets face it-we all like to catch fish when we go fishing. I think it is a good thing to share the info in the manner. The other way is---If your planning a trip to some hot spot and dont want to see it crowded-post a report about some other place and how good the fishing is. I really dont think it will make that much of a difference on your trip though. About the only way to have a whole lake to yourself is to go in the nastiest weather possable at night when most of the world is sleeping. The bite might not be that good, but you better your chances at having the whole place to yourself.
  15. Question 1. You do not have to fish with a fly rod to be effect catching trout. Lots of people use spinning gear. You can use an ultra light throwing jigs in fly fishing only areas. Jigs are a very effective way to catch trout. Question 2. Those waders are good enough, but the warrenty is not always as good as with some higher end waders. Breathable is a good choice and I would recommend them. Simms is usually thought of as the top of the line for waders but not the only choice out there. Simms has a more ecconomical breathable wader that runs right around $200 I beleive. That is where I would put my money the first time if I had to do it all over again. Question 3. You can use flies under and indicator that is large enough to provide enough weight to cast on a spinning reel. Most people use jigs on the spinning reel for fly fishing only areas. You can also use small crank baits and spoons, all of which catch fish but these would have to be fished where artifical lures are allowed. Examples would be the trophy area of Lake Taneycomo, or zone 2 at Montauk. You could not use these lures in zone 3 at Bennet (bait only area) Good luck in your trout adventure and hope some of this helped.
  16. Welcome to the forum.
  17. My brother decided to head over to RRSP today and fish since I had to fish Taney today. We stayed up last night tying T&A Rainbows and he had to go try them out. He got over there about 8:30 am and fished till 11:30 am. When I got done fishing Taney I called him and got the report. He said that he caught 2 fish today on the T&As. One 4-5 pounder and one 9-10 pounder just about zone 2. Ya gotta love throwing them big streamers at RRSP!
  18. Fished today with 2 fellas from Texas. We got on the water at 9 a.m. and I was suprised to see 4 other boats already pulling out. Did not see much traffic on the water till later this afternoon when the sun came out. That brought out some more boats. It was cold, snowing, windy and 4 generators running. Motored up to the cable and did 2 drifts down to KOA using the BFEs. Had a couple of takes but no hook ups. On the 3rd trip to the cable we switched to regular sized egg patterns and started catching fish. The water shut off around noon sometime but never dropped out. It was weird-no current hardly at all down by KOA. The sun came out and the fish started midging, so we changed to soft hackles. From 2-4 p.m. was our most productive time. Ended the day when the horns went off again right around 4 pm. Each of us caught 8-10 fish in the 12-15 inch range. Great day, good company, and a few fish caught by all! Oh yeah, did I mention it was cold out there????? duckydoty
