  1. Kind of hard to shuffle at fish 20 feet across the current
  2. Back peddle
  3. So Randy....I think that would qualify you as a "Trout Bum"
  4. Use barbless hooks to help keep your hands dry and learn how to cast with your rod under your arm so you dont have to take your hands out of your pockets
  5. You hire a front desk person and his main job is to check the tailwater generation schedules and notify you as soon as they are shut off When someone mentions "Strip Club" you automatically think they are talking about night fishing with streamers You have to move your bed away from the wall because you get tired of almost breaking your hand while vividly setting the hook in your dreams over and over again. You take someone fishing and after 28 hrs they beg you to take them home. You take them home pick up another person and head right back down to the fishing hole. 22 hours later they are begging you to take them home, so you do, and pick up someone else and head back down to the fishing hole for another 19 hours, then you decide to take a little break You find yourself fishing with a gortex rep one day and he tells you a story about how if you take a leak in your waders that your clothes will be almost dry after 8 hours of fishing. The fishing is so good you decide to test the theory The stakes in all the "Texas Hold 'em" games you been in have been flies. After fishing most of the night you decide to sleep in your waders so you can hit the water again as soon as you wake up in the morning. You drive 12 hours in one direction to fish for 4 hours, then drive home Once you get home, you drive 45 minutes and fish for 4 more hours. Once you get home, tornado sirens and warnings keep you up all night, so once it gets daylight you go fishing again Then after 6 hours of sleep your brother comes down to go duck hunting with you, you bring the flyrod for when the ducks aren't flying
  6. I think I'd like to try a T&A rainbow there. Last time I was there, I threw pine squirrel leeches and slumpbusters and did very well, but that was quite a few years ago.
  7. Nice pictures. I have not fished Montauk in several years. I should get back up that way some time.
  8. Yeah, It still hurts some. I dont think its frost bitten, just got froze shut for a minute or so. I forgot to mention in the report... I now know what it is like to walk around in a suit of armor, well at least that is what waders that are frozen solid feel like when walking in them.
  9. If it warms back up this weekend...chances are they will run in the morning for a few hours and then again in the evening. Thats what the pattern has been lately. It could change at any time though and colder weather definately increases chances of it running. If it gets warmer, I might try and get my lovely bride out there one of those afternoons or evenings.
  10. I'll tell him just as soon as he wakes up. We're fixn to head back down there if he'll ever get up
  11. It is just a super huge egg pattern (about the size of a quarter) tied with McFly Foam. Michael will definately show you how if you stop in at Backcountry Outfitters on your way down. They are super quick and easy to tie. They are not new, and not a secret. Been around for years.
  12. My brother came down from STL last night, so after visiting for a few and tying some flies, we decided to go hit the water. We got to the parking lot about 11 p.m. and there was not another car to be seen anywhere???? The water was off and just about all the way down. We couldn't believe we had the whole place to ourselves! We started fishing below outlet 1 and worked our way to the flats. Several missed bites, quite a few hook ups and LDR's, and lots of fish to hand. The fish were in a feeding frenzy on the flats. We did catch a few fish in the 18-19 inch range up there. After fishing the flats for a while we just slowly worked our way down to the point fishing the whole place all the way down. Fishing pretty good just above the rebar, nice just below the tree below rebar, a little slow through the gauntlet, and good again down at the point. While fishing the point I got a super huge (WIND KNOT) and had to take some time to get everything untangled. By the time I was done I had ice on 2 fingers....Ouch! We went back up to the flats, the moon came out and the fish just shut down around 3 a.m. We only picked up one more fish on the flats. The only fly used........The BFE (Boiled Flamingo Egg) Now this is a rediculously huge egg pattern that normally you would think, No Way.....but the fish were all over it. We used Stanley's Ice-Off Paste to help keep the eyelets from freezing up. I was impressed and think it helped alot. We did still get ice, but it was managable. We got a few pictures last night and if I can get them off my brother's camera, I will post. Great night fishing!
  13. In my best imitation of Tim "The Tool-time" Taylor....... Huh???????
  14. We are over half way there with finished flies. Leonard has his done, I'm just waiting to see if I might get over his way to pick them up.

  19. Check this place out. click here
  20. "Hey! Com'ere and take this off my line" Request while night fishing that your buddy take the bat off your line that you just caught while back casting. "I aint touching that!" Buddy's response to said request.
