  1. Hunted the Rock again today with Chief and his son. Hunted real close to the same spot I hunted yesterday. After getting all set up I realized that I had lost the bolt handle on my Winchester sx3, si I was just calling today. Had a group of mallards lock up and come in early but they wanted down out of shooting range way to the left of us. Had some golden eye do the same thing a few minutes later so I had Chief and his son move over to the left about 20 yards. Just as soon as they did that we had 2 mallards lock up and swing right in front of the decoys. If I did not make them move they would have got them birds. Had a couple of geese make a pass but could not get them to fall from the sky either. Had a great time with them two fellas even though we did not get anything. Hope to get to hunt with them again
  2. Ive seen a few of them on the Naknek
  3. Sounds like some good eats
  4. I have not had any problems with freezing while on the water. The coldest I ran it in was 13 degrees. It would not work too good in flooded fields. Open water and lakes is where she is good. Makes running down cripples lots of fun. I volunteered to chase down everyone of them this season
  5. I'm good with that. When, where, and what do ya wanna chase?
  6. You hunting over there where you normally go?
  7. Today I hunted midway back on a long point. Been hunting both points and coves. Seems like the birds want to be in the coves the days I hunt the points and then they want to be on the points when I hunt the coves. Split the difference today.
  8. LOL! Had to ask my wife what that meant...she just looked at me and laughed. Hope you do well
  9. If your gonna go, might as well be by a mountain lion attack. People will write stories about you and maybe even make a movie. You'll be famous
  10. Never tried for whites up bull creek. Always went to Swan or Beaver Creek. I start fishing for the whites around the middle of March on the James. Usually best around the 1st week of April
  11. My girl friend, as my wife calls it, is for sale. She is a 1995 SeaDoo 650cc. I used her for duck hunting this season and she was a fun ride! Great way to duck hunt if you go solo alot or dont have a dog to fetch up the ducks for you. The only draw backs I saw for duck hunting....Had to keep a light in the engine compartment when it got cold to keep her from feezing up at night and she really likes the gas. Has a 6 gallon tank and could only get about 36 miles out of her. That is it with the draw backs. She comes with a custom camo paint job, navigation lights, head lights, a custom camo ghilly tarp, bungee strap system on the front, and quick connect gun case for brining the heat. I would use a gear sled for towing my decoys and gear bag behind her. Never had a problem even at full throttle with it. Great for hunting lakes like Table Rock, Bull Shoals, and Taneycomo. Hides away easy for the hunt. Selling it without a trailer, but will deliver local. I'm only asking $600.00 for her. What a deal that is! I have no idea about what to do with one of these things in the summer, since I'm in Alaska that time of year, but I bet it could be some fun! Send me a PM if interested. Thanks Duckydoty
  12. Saw a lot of fellas fishing around the Rockaway beach docks yesterday and they were catching losts of fish. I was busy looking for a duck. Did not find too many
  13. We get into the spoonys sometimes while chasing white bass on the James. Usually right around the 1st week of April. Too close to going back up to Alaska to really keep any of them. Cant get it all eaten by the time we have to head North.
  14. MOBass, I took the goose breast and sliced them on a bias cut getting 12 slices out of each breast. I then took the slices and marinated them for 2 days in a mixture of one can Mt Dew, 1/2 cup worschestershire sauce, 1/2 cup soy sauce, and a squirt or two of lime juice. After marinatining, wrap each slice of breast around 1/4 piece of string cheese and a slice of fresh jalapeno, then wrap a 1/2 strip of bacon around the whole thing and peg with a tooth pick. Cook on the grill on high heat untill the bacon crisps up a little and the cheese starts to squirt out the ends. Love eating goose this way. We also save some of the sliced breast after it has marinated and use it in stir fry with pod thai noodles and peanut sauce. My mouth has started watering again......
  15. Had a limit of mallards by 8 a.m. today. Was only expecting a chance at some geese but I was pleasantly surprised. Geese were flying around but none of them came close enough to shoot at. These guys kept me entertained though. They also inspired me for tomorrow's hunt with Chief and his son Corn Dog. Hope them fellas are able to see action like I did today.
  16. We did stay warm while camping. Made it very hard to get out of the sleeping bags in the morning when the thermometer read 14 degrees.
  17. That is what we thought also. I guess you just have to be humbled every now and then to keep yourself in check
  18. Been hunting hard with my brother the last 3 days. We started at 4 Rivers Monday morning and drew pill 12. Took pool 6 with 3 other parties. It was windy and cold. There were quite a few birds flying but we just did not have any pocket water. We hunted all day and grilled brats for lunch out in the pool. Ended up getting 4 birds that day. That 4 total between all of us. We camped that night a Schell and drew in there the next morning. We got pill 8 for the last day of the middle zone. Went to F5 blind. 3/4 inch ice every where. Did not see many ducks and only had one work us. Decided to pack up around noon and headed home empty handed feeling whooped bad. This morning we decided to hunt Lower Taney. Did not see many birds but we took advantage of everyone we saw. Ended up with 3 mallards one gadwall and 2 canadas. We hunted hard in some cold weather. Enjoyed the time being out with my wife, brother, and his wife. Wish the ducks worked a little better for us.
  19. Looks like you had a good time. I've got a cove I hunted over by the dam on Table Rock that 53 of them greebs came into all at the same time. Biggest buch of greebs I've ever seen together. Looking forward to a good couple of days up at Four Rivers starting in the morning.
  20. Nice fish Leonard. Sea horses were awesome.
  21. That all depends on bird activity. I think we opted to hunt 4 Rivers both tomorrow and Tuesday. But will be camping at Schell
  22. There is a place to access behind the gas station in that little subdivisionand its not too crowded. Some of the guides use it as their secret spot to Wade fish clients when there is lots of generation.
  23. Way to knock em down Marty and Pat. Believe it or not, I did not hunt today....went fishing instead. Headed your way in a little while to Dinah the middle zone season at Four Rivers and Schell.
