  1. Sorry guys, had something come up and will not be able to give classes at Phils tonight. Hope I did not inconveinence anyone.....Classes should resume next Wed. night the 10th of Feb.
  2. Thats alot of eagles. We drive down to Fayetville, Ar. every other weekend and will see up to 50 of them in the trees around the chicken CAFO's along the way. Did you go to the "Eagle Days" event that the Conservation Dept. puts on up there. They use to give away prints if you attended. I think Charles Schwartz did alot of the art work quite a few years ago. Then they change the prints up to some other artist and they looked a little more like orential drawings than realistic drawings. Thanks for posting!
  3. I took it out 2x in Alaska and used it 2x here. I still have one more if you want to make an offer.........
  4. That was back when you had to buy a daily tag to fish there. Just like the trout parks. I pulled several 5 pounders out of the pond by the rifle range over the years.
  5. I grew up fishing BW as a kid. When your stuck in the St. Charles/St. Peters area it was a great place to go that was close to home. I actually caught my largest bass ever there.....8 pounds 1 ounce. Not bad for urban fishing. It is a great place to fish for carp on the fly rod. As I got older, I started playing on the Big Rivers a little more. Howell Island was a great place to run some jug and limb lines. When the water comes up and gets in the trees, those 50 and 60 pound flat head and blues are alot of fun trying to wrestle up out of the water in a canoe! The white bass/hybrids would make a good runn up in there in the spring also. Not to mention a good place to catch spoonbill and big head carp. I just wish they did not make it to where you could not drive over the low water bridge. That made it a little harder to get all your gear down there.
  6. Come to think of it....that might be a good idea. Just deliver them flies to me in June when I'm up in Alaska and you can pick your rod up there.....While your there with a new rod in hand....You might as well stay for a week and fish the Agulowak and Wood Rivers with me and My MonaChari!!!!
  7. Went back to take a second look in the closet and found another one just like the 1st one. Will put it up on ebay tomorrow unless someone wants to make a decent offer on it today.

  9. As some of you know, my wife and I will be guiding for Bristol Bay Adventures in Alaska this summer. 15. Starts at 7:00 P.M. tonight. I will be tying a variation of the Slump Buster that I like to use on Taney, also another shad pattern that produces real well that I call the "F.O. Fly", and experimenting with rabbit and maribou in dubbing loops for shad patterns. There will be pizza for all that come also. Brother Dave and DD'sMC will be there for your entertainment. Bring your own vise and tools. I will supply the materials for the flies we will be tying. Hope to see some of you there.
  16. We will be tying the F.O.F. (Fish On Fly) on Wed. night.
  17. I am origanally from St. Charles area. Brother lives in Foley. I heard Marias Temp Clair hunted good this year. Shanks was good till ice out. Use to hunt the rivers quite a bit too.
  18. Leaders are usually tapered in order to roll the fly over in the cast. They normally are 7 to 12 feet long and have a built in tippet section that is about 18 inches long. After you have changed flies a few times you will use up the built in section of tippet. With a spool of tippet you can add the section back in to the leader and continue to use it. Remember it is tapered and helps to roll the fly over in the cast or continues your cast from your fly line to your fly. You also use tippet if you need to down size or go to a smaller line. Just tie on the next smaller size of tippet to the leader. For example, you have a 4x leader and are fishing while the water is off at Upper Taney, you probably will not get many bites and will want to go with a smaller diameter line attached to your fly. Tie on some 5x tippet to the 4x leader and you will be a little more in the ball park of where you need to be for fishing Taney during the day. With proper knot tying techniques there are no real disadvantages for using tippet. You can even make your own tapered leaders by starting with a large diameter tippet and tying consecutive sections of tippet each being the next size smaller down to the size tippet you desire. This would consist of several knots and time to tie, but will do in a pinch when you need a new leader. Any time you want to fish Taney just give me a holler and I'll be glad to spend some time on the water with you
  19. those are beautiful mounts. Who does your work?
  20. Just drop them off with Terry and we will pick them up at BCO
  21. I will bring all the materials for the flies we will tie in the classes that I hold. Lilley's Landing does have the fly shop that sells materials too. If you have a certain parttern that you would like to work on, then bring the materials for that. Looking forward to seeing you at some tying classes
  22. Fly tying classes will start Wed. January 20th at Lilley's Landing in the conference room or room #22. Fly tying will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with fishing to follow if you should choose to go, and of course, if the water is off. Bring your own vises and tools if you can. I will be tying some flies that should be productive during the shad kill. If you have some particular fly you would like to work on, just let me know. If you are interested and can make it, reply with an "I'm in!". I will bring some pizza too!
  23. Maybe next year. Good luck to you this weekend and post a report.
  24. It was a little slow as far as birds flying this morning. Not much action at all. After the temps warmed up above freezing, I did see a couple of boats on the water this morning. I was begining to wander if any one fished Table Rock during the winter????? I guess it just needs to be above freezing for most fishermen to get out on the water. With that, maybe we will get a fishing report on the lake today! I did manage to bag 1 gadwall, 1 golden eye, and 1 greater canada goose. Missed on two mallards and a group of three gadwalls. Now I'm off to go fishing....
