  1. DD'sMC and I finally got back down to the Branson area and were able to pick up her kids for the weekend. We decided to go fishing and camping at RR for the weekend. On Friday evening after setting up camp I stopped in at Tim's Fly Shop up on the hill and visited with Tim for a while. He filled me in on all the hot flies and most productive way to get the kids on fish. Tim stocked me up with everything I needed since all my Missouri fishing gear is still in storage and we had a great weekend. Tim was right on with his fly seclection! We caught some great quality and numbers of fish over the weekend. If you go to RR State Park you really should give Tim's Fly Shop a visit while your there. We got rained on all day Saturday but that did not stop the bite. Sunday was a beautiful day for fishing and everyone in the party landed fish. Once again.... Thanks to Tim for helping to make it a great weekend!
  2. DD'sMC and I will be there Sat. and spending the night. Oh by the way we will be sharing a bed
  3. Here's a link to some great Alaska photos taken by one of my clients. Enjoy! Chris' photos
  4. I bleed silvers, sockeye, and kings. Ripping a gill or inserting your fillet knife and cutting a gill works great. Makes cleaning the fish a little less bloody. I once cut a kings gill and the blood squirted 6 feet across the boat for at least 20 seconds. Never seen anything like it from a fish.
  5. DD'sMC is going to be an avid member of the Taneycomo Friday Night Strippers Club.....You think I'm gonna miss that!!!!!
  6. That is true but you can not guide out of National Scenic Riverways without the proper permits and you can not guide on MDC land.
  7. DD'sMC and I are back to the real world and currently in Anchorage. Going to spend a week or 2 up here then back down to Missouri. Should be fishing Taney again around the 1st of Oct.
  8. Another requirement to use the Coast Guard License is to be enrolled in some kind of "Safe Way" program or random drug testing program that tests the license holder at least once during thier regular fishing season. Some of the so-called guides out there would have a hard time maintianing satisfactory results in that catagory........
  9. I'd be more worried about the squid repellent!
  10. Great pictures! I love the old time photos with some history. The middle picture, you call muskie picture????? I dont see a muskie, but that is one huge flathead catfish.

    Cooking Bluegill

I do like gills and crappie cooked this way. Love them fins!
  12. I like the idea of having the option to carry in Alaska. I would only use a hand gun if the bear is already attacking me. I do think that if greenhorns carry around bears, a lot of them will get shot without just cause....false charges and knock downs. Pepper spray is definately the 1st defense that should be used...not deadly, and if it is just a false charge, then no real harm done to the bears. Only after one is chewing on your leg or head should the hand gun be pulled. I just dont think this will be the case when the average Joe is up here encountering a bear for the first time.
  13. This law will not go into effect untill Feb 2010 because it was attached to the credit card law which does not take effect untill then. They are already proposing amendments to reverse this law that will be attached to other proposed laws in the near future inorder to reverse the new gun law in National Parks.
  14. You Da Man Zach! I knew you could do it! Congratulations!
  15. Just ask Michael about leaving his boga grip on the bank of the Naknek River. If he wont tell you, maybe Phil will tell the story. He was there also.
  16. Dang! That posted 3 times!
  17. I was not suggesting that it was you, Leonard. There are lots of people that fish at night with lighted indicators. Most of us do rig up at the pavillion when getting ready to fish at night. Thats why I find and pick up trash around the pavillion also. There is always going to be some litter laying around. We just need to keep picking it up and if we see someone throwing it down, Say Something to Them.
  18. Nice! Glad you guys had some fun out there!
  19. Hmmm....I was down there today at outlet 2 talking to some of the Old Timers down there and the butts were still laying around. Where I come from....we leave the place cleaner than we found it. I picked them all up even though I didnt put not a one of them down there. Also picked up some glow stick packages that some night time lighted indicator fisher person left down there. Wouldn't be nice if everyone on here would pickup some trash when they saw it instead of just complaining about what they saw.
  20. I was going through withdrawls
  21. I took DD'sMC to work yesterday afternoon. Since I was right there at the dam, I decided to see what was going on. Of course the water was running, so I walked up to outlet 2 just to see who was there. 3 young men were covering the outlet and, as I watched them, I noticed they were using powerbait. One of them came up the hill and asked about other places to fish. I told him about Cooper Creek Access, the fish down there really liked powerbait, and that he was currently fishing in the Trophy Management Area that was flies and artificial lures only. The young man informed me that what he was using was "Artificial Bait" and that they were going to continue to fish there. I just said ok, eased back up to the parking lot and gave our local conservation agent a friendly phone call. Unfortunately all I go was the answering machine and left a message. Another call to Phil and I got the number to the Hatchery and spoke with John. John was very happy to come down and take care of the situation immeadiately. I then headed up to outlet one and low and behold there is Laker67 realing in his 1209th lunker, a very nice 4 pound broun! I joined him for a while messing around in the outlet and we caught several fish there in a short period of time. Had a fun time visiting with friends and catching a fish between conversations.
