  3. Glad to have you join us. I can relate to the name. duckydoty
  4. Played around on the stairs at outlet 2 for about 20 minutes last night. Just messing around with a friend killing some time and ended up with 7 fish in 20 minutes on one rod. The fish were on fire getting takes on about every drift. It was quite commical. Got bored real quick with plucking fish from a barrel and just enjoyed the stars, scenery, and sound of the water. Dark brown and tan sow bugs about 5 feet down apparrently were enough to cause a feeding frenzy. duckydoty
  5. Crane is one of the toughest places I have fished. Stealth really pays off and when the water is up like it has been, you need to get deep fast. Real fast. Sounds like you got to bust the cabin fever a little bit, so im my book that makes a good trip. Thanks for the report. duckydoty
  6. Fly girl, Dont ask me how far I would drive in a day to fish. Might get you in a little trouble that way. I've driven 12 hours one way just to fish for 3 hours and drive back. The Little Red, White River, Norfork tailwaters, Bull Shoals tailwaters, and North Fork of the White would all be good choices for trout. Some of the others will surely chime in and help out also. duckydoty
  7. Cool! duckydoty
  8. You will have to ask Brian about that fly. It was one of his creations. Shhhhh! its a secret duckydoty
  9. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info and people on here. I am sure you will be referred to quite a few competent guides in this area. Which river systems and what area specifically are you looking to fish? duckydoty
  10. That would be me. You gonna be at Sow Bug? Does it fit you ok duckydoty
  11. Brian, Great to fish with you. Thanks for the correction. I hate to mislead people. North Fork of the White has got to be my favorite river in Missouri to fish and you defenately know your stuff. Randy's camera shy pig had to be pushing 22". It sure would have made a nice picture. I guess thats why its called fishing. duckydoty
  12. Brian Wise's professionalism, knowledge of the river, and drift boating skills all attributed this to being the best trip that I have had on the North Fork of the White River. I am quite sure that the three of us had over 60 fish to hand. If you ever have the chance to fish with Brian I would fully recommend it. duckydoty
  13. The alarm clock was buzzing in my ear and as I reached for it to throw across the room I noticed that it said 4:00 a.m. "Now why in the world would it be going off at 4 am" I asked myself. While trying to silence the annoying buzz the fog in my head started to clear. The last thing I remembered from the night before was trying to tie up as many stones as possible. "Why? Oh, yes", I remembered, "I'm fishing today. The North Fork of the White with motroutbum and Brian Wise. Brian, hmmm, he is that guide over there that wanted to take a test run on the river with the water being up as practice for his up coming season with clients. We're fishing from a drift boat today. Cool." As I stumbed into the living room I find motroutbum in his usual spot on the morning of a trip. I kicked him a few times untill he started to move and told him, "Come on. We gotta go." The North Fork of the White is about 2 hours drive from my house and we needed to be there by 6:30 a.m. Just as we got to our rendavous place with Brian, dawn was starting to crack We followed Brian to River of Life Farm on the North Fork of the White and proceeded to launch our vessel for the day. After securing the boat we had to shuttle a vehicle to our final destination on the river. Blair Bridge access We then car pooled back to River of Life Farms where the drift boat was waiting, geared up and loaded the boat for the day. Fishing gear, a 6 pack of Mt Dew and a bag of corn nuts. We drifted down to the 1st set of riffles and got out to fish the seams. Motroutbum was on fish almost immediatly. He pumbed the fishes stomach to find out what they might be eating Lots of partially digested stones. We kind of looked around in the water to see what else might be available as food sources. Almost ever rock turn provided a stone, scud, or sowbug. Lots of sculpins, darters, on other minnows in the water too. We had a few more fish to hand at the first riffle, I think it was called the "Cave Riffles" before we decided to get back in the drift boat and work our way down to the next wading hole. Fishing was good in the drift boat too. Motroutbum and I both managed to bring several to hand We continued to fish from the drift boat in the slower waters and wade to fish the riffles. Accourding to Brian, the best time to wade fish is around 400 cfs and we were pushing 700 cfs, so the water was a little high, really fast in the riffles and just a little color to it. We let Brian fish and he was getting into them too. The fish in the North Fork of the White have and orange tip on thier dorsal fin that makes for some interesting markings The fish were non-stop all day From the boat and while wading It was in the 70's yesterday in southern Missouri. The turtles were out and short sleeves would have been enough by afternoon. Its hard to believe we are having freezing rain right now and predictions 6-10" of snow by morning. Think I'll go fish Taney tonight. duckydoty
  14. George, Glad to have you on the forum with us. Hope you find someone to car pool with so you can get some more fishing in. Duane
  15. After some persuading from Michael, I decided to join him down at Crane for a couple hours fishing today. We fished the lower end and the water was up about a foot or more. It was still running pretty clear. We had to fish heavy flies to get down in the current and even had to add some lead in the faster water. Fishing was a little tough but we still managed to catch a few. Getting as much use as I can out of the 2007 license duckydoty
  16. Thanks Dwayne and Pam, One of these days I'll get you to go with me. Its a pleasure to share with all my friends on this forum duckydoty
  17. Glad you liked it guys. JJ---I dont know what you're talking about duckydoty
  18. A little rain wont hurt them fish, they're already wet duckydoty
  19. Kyle Eaglebluffs and Grand Pass are well within your range also. Shanks was good this year if you got in the right spots. D2 and D3 and the center slough were great. We limited out there a few times this year. Terry Ya gotta blow a Qwack Whacker. There made in Searcy by a guy with the last name of Doty. duckydoty
  20. Glad you joined. Looking forward to hearing about your fishing trips duckydoty
  21. Zach, Zach, Zach You have much to learn grasshopper. It is never too bad when it comes to fishing duckydoty
  22. I'm pretty sure I've floated below Montauk to Acres ferry before. Its been quite a few years ago, but I dont think it was that long of a float duckydoty
  23. Thanks guys. I'm glad you all enjoyed the report. Crane is a great place to fish and a nice break from Taney. The beauty of the fish definately make up for the average size differences. I did get ahold of one that was pushing 15 inches, but it was a LDR. A 20" fish over there would be a true trophy!. Tim, I know you've caught a few of the larger ones over there. Thats what dreams are made of! duckydoty
  24. TroutBum4wt I have only fished there 3 times. I love the place. I use the Optio W30 waterproof digital camera. Great all purpose camera Thank cub minnow and patfish, hope you enjoyed the report. duckydoty The caddis--It might not be all out of my system yet. Might have to do some more therapy today
