  5. I'd love to be able to fish with you, but I'm headed for Alaska on the 20th. I'm sure if your at the pavilion around dark, there will be some fellas more than happy to lead you in the right direction. In my opinion, when starting out night fishing, the best place to start might be the rebar hole and work your way down to the big hole. Not too tough of a place to fish. Olive, and black pine squirril sculpins with and with out cone heads, white mink with and with out cone heads, and all colors of mohair leaches should help you get into some fish. Start with a cast across current and dead drift through the swing, then vary the strip back untill you figure out what they are after that night. If you go 5-6 casts with out a bite, change up your strip or your fly. Good luck to you duckydoty
  6. I've heard that there wouldn't be a Texas today if the Alamo had a back door???? duckydoty
  7. I've known Graham Owen through the internet for 4-5 years now. Some of his fly's take over 16 hours to tie. Many of them take over 8 hours. He is very active on the FlyTyingForum. There are a lot of realistic tyers over there from all over the world. Great place to see some cool stuff. duckydoty
  8. Nice pictures Matt. I like them all duckydoty

  17. There has been a lot of good fishing in the last 96 hours. I think I fished close to 70 of them. Seen lots of good fish caught and talked to quite a few people that have been catching nice fish. Last night was the first time I've had to burn it in that quick in order to get a bite at night. I usually only fish that way during the day with streamers. I ended up with 50 fish after working the rebar to the big hole last night and Mat ended up with 54. A couple of the rainbows were pushing 20". duckydoty
  18. Just got back from fishing last night. Over all it was a very good night. Started at KOA and picked up a couple on black pine squirrel and electric blue mohairs just dead drifting. Worked all the way down to Fall Creek. Just above Fall Creek I caught my first Taneycomo Bat on an olive pine squirrel. If you ever hear a whirling sound on your back cast----It Is Not A Good Sign. While down at Fall Creek the moon came up over the horizon and I started catching fish on the olive pine squirrel. Slow stripping this time. Very slow stripping. After fishing down on that end for a while we went up to the cable on the south side and the bite was on pretty good up there on white mink and white zonkers slow stripped. Fished up there about an hour then went down to the rebar and did pretty good there. My favorite way to fish that hole at night is to stand by the 1st clump of rebar and cast to the south bank in the direction of the telephone pole up on the hill then just let it drift and hold on. If you dont get a bite in the swing give it a couple of strips then let it sit for a few seconds. Works all the time for me. Picked up 8 or 9 fish doing this on size 10 white mink with a small conehead. Worked the gauntlet almost all the way down to the big hole and picked up 6 or 7 more fish stripping the mink. Went back up above the rebar riffle and picked up a couple of more fish then back up the to cable on the north side and it was still hot up there. This was the first time I've fished from Fall creek to the cable. Ended up with over 60 fish---But fished for over 12 hours. Cant wait to do it again. duckydoty

  24. It would be nice if the forurm would be used to pass information on to others that are less furtunate and not able to fish 366 days a year. When no knowledge is passed along in a report, what is the use in even posting. I fish quite a bit at Taney and every time I post a report, there are no secrets. Just the facts on what was working, how it was fished, and as a bonus I sometimes gloat on what it produced. Not to share any information and just gloating seems rediculus. With any knowledge in the fly tying field, one will quickly come to understand that there are no new flies. They have all been tied before. Most of them 100's of years ago. A so called "New Fly" is only some form of a fly already in existance that has been tied with a different material. People have been fishing Taney for a long time now. To sit down with the "Old Timers" will help a lot of people around here get a clearer picture of what kind of knowledge base is really out there. These guys have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at the fish in Taney. One can not throw something new. It's been done. If one were to spend some time talking to the fellas that have fished Taney for 30+ years, then their field of knowledge could be greatly increased. Then secrets are not really secrets at all. The only secrets worth keeping are the one's that need to hide questionable ethical fishing. duckydoty
  25. If your ever down there after dark, consider this an open invitation to the Friday Night Strippers Club. We usually start meeting around dark at the pavillion. duckydoty
