  1. EB’s Marabou Crayfish Hook Daiichi # 1730 – size #6 – Bent-shank 3x long Weight .030 lead wire Eyes Symmetrical hour-glass shape – Medium 7/32 – Plain Claws Widgeon neck feathers Antenna Silicon jig skirt emerald pumpkin Head/tail Marabou sculpin olive (Blood Quill) Accent Marabou Ginger (blood quill) Body Wooly Bugger chenille sculpin Olive cwb141 Thread Danvilles 210 Black 1. Place bent hook in the vice w/ point down 2. Wrap thread 3. Tie on antenna 4. Wrap lead wire tight 10-12 wraps 5. Tie on claws 6. Tie on head marabou bend back ¼ for tail 7. Tie on accent marabou 8. Bend back and tie down 9. Tie on eyes. When eyes are tight, wrap accent marabou forward and tie down 10. Wrap chenille and tie off 11. Whip finish 2-3 times – Trim tail to preferred length. This is a heavy fly and needs to be fished with 8lb test plus and a 6 weight rod or heavier combo. This bait should be fished slowly, at or near the bottom in moving water. The marabou gives the bait natural movement in current and the up bent hook reduces hang-ups. As any with any weighted bait, it will hang in chuck rock, but does okay in gravel or minimal woody structure. I have caught many Smallmouth bass and a few large brown trout on this bait. Good fishing. Phill, I found out the reason that I could post pictures. I needed to go into my managed accounts and delete a few pictures to free up the available space. Thanks.
  2. I got mine this week. John thanks for all of your effort. EB
  3. You did better than I. I got there about 10 pm and the water was up, but falling. I messed around and fished the area around outlet #2, but little luck.. and left around Midnight and the stream was still falling. I met one other fisherman, and we visited a while. He was the only other fisherman when I left...I had to get some shut eye.
  4. I sent an email voicing concerns.
  5. My Dad makes fish gigs and has them posted on Ebay (my brother's idea) - Hand forged gigs by Don Baker. http://sporting-goods.search.ebay.com/Fish...mZR8QQsacatZ382 He made gigs for several years as a hobby after he retired and still has a few available. They are also available at Ernies sales and Service (Webb Creek) and Gastenue Hardware in Ellington Mo. Both 3 and 4 prong styles are available. Good Luck.

  10. There were some good pics posted in an earlier topic a couple of months ago that were to be used as screen save images. But I don't remember which form topic. Maybe the poster can help.
  11. First of all, forget about Riverboat Gambling. This is a short term "foot in the door" concept. The Casinos want a land based facility, and they will get a land based facility as they have in most of the casinos built in Missouri. The Boat in Moat concept is the way the industry in MO has been established. Build a floating casino floor as required to meet the gaming laws and build all required Hotel rooms, shops and resturants required to support the visiters on the site ajacent to the casino floor. Community impact. The local community will get some. Most of this will be spent building the roads and inferstructure to get folks to the casino. Some will help the surrounding inferstructure helping the community. Jobs. The casino will require a stable of employees to keep the machine in operation 24/7. Many of these will be good paying jobs, not all. Most of the better paying jobs will go to folks relocating to the community. The poor folks that currently live in the community might get some of the lesser paying service oriented jobs. But let's face it, many of the poor stay poor due to lack of education and skills. This isn't going to change. The skilled help that the casinos need will be imported as required to fill the positions. Local Businesses. These folks will feel a slight bump, what is needed to support the stable of casino employees and their families. Very few dollars from the casino patrons will be spent in the community. The casino will have all the shops and resturants required to keep the patrons in or near the casino gambling. It's in the casinos best interest to do so, and they know how to get $$ from their customers. Schools. The schools will get some $$, but this will be spent building the inferstructure required to take care of the casino emplyees families. Social impact. Don't look for an increase in crime anymore than would come with added population. The casinos are huge in security. They need their customers to feel safe coming to and from the casino and will see that they are. Some people in the community will over indulge, but not most. Most of the $$ that enters the community and spent in the casino will leave the community and have little or no impact other than as mentioned. If currently live in the community, don't look for the casino to have an impact on your financial welbeing unless you own the land that they need to build. My 2 cent's
  12. I've never seen one smaller than a 25 hp. A 25 hp jet would work fine on a 14 ft Jon I would think. The jet lower unit output is about 25 - 30 percent less than a prop lower unit. Translation, A 25 hp jet would push the boat along similar to a 15 hp prop. However, w/ a prop, the lower unit is at risk in slower water. With the Jet, if the boat is on plane, you draft a couple of inches max. Good luck. P.S. See Google Thejetdoctor.net and give them a call for pricing on a 25hp jet.
  13. I'm fishing a night club tournement this Saturday on the Niagua arm. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I Duck hunt in mine and they work fine if I can keep my feet warm.
  15. Combat fishing...the reason I don't trout fish in the summer. No combat pay.
  16. I'll be the first in line to buy a F150 crew cab that runs on hybrid technology or fuel cells getting 50 - 60 mpg or better w/ enough power to pull a bass boat at 80 mph down the interstate. But I'm not quite ready to load my family of 5 in a 2 seater hybred that has the power needed to pull itself. I think if the techology was available, someone would produce it and offer it for sale.
  17. Pretty interesting stuff MO.
  18. John, Crayfish are in the mail.
  19. I don't know what you have on the bottom of your boat, but I ripped a 3" gash in the bottom of my boat on the shoal below Gene's this winter. I would suggest extreme caution running a jet on that river w/ no generation. Too many chunk rocks and hardpan. I can run over about an inch of water in gravel, but this is not the conditions in the Norfork. I'd listen to Berry.
  20. Wondering where the "other" waters are?
  21. I'm not sure were Deer Run is, but I believe, Van Burean. If so, you'll need to get above the put in at Waymeyer to get above the canoes and tubes.
  22. This weekend was absolutely beautiful. The Current river is one of the most scenic rivers is the state. Our family spent the weekend floating and swimming and generally enjoying the summer. As to the fishing, the fish that I caught this weekend ran smaller that the last 2 trips that I reported. Most fish caught were 11" - 13". I did catch a fair number of fish for the time spent fishing. Saturday morning, I fished from 6:00 am until about 10:00 am and caught 16 SMB w/ 7 fish over the 12" length limit. All released. None of the fish were larger than 13". Most were caught on soft plastics, w/ a few caught on crank baits. A notable mention, in the lower end of a hole, I saw a couple of pickerel hanging out around a beaver den, I spooked them and was unable to entice a bite. Saturday pm. - while my family was tubing, I managed to motor down stream ahead of them and caught 6 nice smallies in one hole of water. Sunday, same time, I motored up to the hole that I had caught the 6 fish the evening before, and immediately started catching fish. I fished this hole for 2 hours, and caught 18 fish all between 11" & 13" and all on soft plastics. I went back to the location that I saw the pickerel the day before and caught one and had a couple of follows on a Rapala. The fish that I caught measured about 18" These are fun fish to catch. Monday, same time, Motored down river and caught 12 fish w/ 1 fish 16 1/2" and another 14" the rest were 11" - 13" all on the soft plastics, and a few on the rapala. I went back to the location where I released the pickerel the day before, and tried to entice another strike w/o success. I had several small fish follow, but no takers. Monday afternoon. we pulled over to eat lunch, and while the others were relaxing in the shade, I caught 7 fish in a chunk rock run across from the river from where the kids were swimming. Each time I got hooked up, I let one of the kids real in the fish. They had a blast. Tuesday, I was only able to fish about an hour and caught 6 fish 11" - 13" All in all, a great weekend catching over 65 SMB several Goggleye, and a pickerel. The fish were small, but even the smallest smallmouth bass put up a great fight in the flow of the stream.
  23. Thank you Brian. I doubt that I would have called Orvis had you not made the suggestion. So Thanks.
