  1. Welcome, you'll find alot of useful information and have a few laughs by reading the forum.
  2. MoCarp. How are you fishing the dough bait??? On a bait heavey bait casting rod? It would be great to catch carp on the flyrod, but slingling dough seems tough.
  3. Thanks for the report Al. We took a family road trip through the area , but time didn't allow for a float trip. Maybe next time.
  4. hey "Maul Swinger" It sounds like the Rep for CA has your dander up. What's the harm in having corporations put their name on the trials or trial heads if their willing to put up enough Jack to pay the maintenance on the trails taking some of the burden off the tax payers. Our good fellows in WA will have more $$ to waste The Budweiser Katy line trail. Ah... Maybe not.
  5. What ramp was the start of the tournement? I was fishing on Taney below the dam, and at 7:00 am it sounded like someone waved the checkered flag up on the Rock.
  6. My wife got an opportunity to take a VIP tour at the new Busch Stadium on monday. Here are a few pictures from her visit. This is going to be an awsome place to watch the Cards play. The veiw from home plate into the outfield should really help "SELL" St. Louis to the nation as a place to visit.
  7. Here is a picture of the fish.
  8. Izzy started the 9th and let the runners on base. I think he just must make it interesting. He can't just can in and shut them down 1,2,3. He walks 2 or 3 guys then gets the last out. He made me nervous last year many games. But in the end he ussually got the save. It looks like another great season is ahead again. Go Cards.
  9. The brown seem fine when released. I caught a rainbow about 16" long earlier, and when released he just wanted to roll over. I pushed and pulled him through the water a few times and he righted himself and swam away. I hope he made it. The rainbow just don't seem as durable as the brown.
  10. I have a pair of Orvis breathable waders that I have used for 3-4 years now. They don't have any holes that I can tell, but they have been leaking in around the neoprene stocking feet. I believe they are leaking around the seams where the neoprene feet and the breathable material are connected. Anyone have any ideas as to how to reseal these seams? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  11. I was fortunate enough to get down to the Branson area w/ the family on Friday and Saturday enabling me to get out on the water Saturday morning for a few hours to fish the area below Tablerock dam. I was able to catch several fish in 3 hours of fishing. Most fish caught were nice size fish the largest being a 19" brown. I caught a few fish on an #10 olive wooly but the 19" brown came on an orange egg pattern drifted behind the wooly. I had to fight the brown for several minutes before I was able to land him. It's amazing how hard the browns fight. This fish just didn't want to quit. While fighting the fish, three guys in a drift boat that had put in at the boat were rowing up stream and was gracious enough to wait for me to play the fish out and before passing allowing me to land the fish and take a few pics before releasing. It was a beautiful day to be on the stream fishing.
  12. That's funny. I haven't heard that one. I thought that was what kids were for. When I was a kid, I remember helping my father spool line by holding the pencil. Today I have my kids hold the pencil.
  13. How is the water level on the Buffalo this spring? If a guy wanted to take his family floating this weekend, what would be suggested for a short 1 day float?
  14. I carry a 5' telescopic spinning rod in my golf bag. Rigged w/ 8 lb test and a small spinner bait w/ the barb bent down. I bend the barb down, because I don't have any other tackle and need to be able to get the fish of easily. This outfit calapses down to about 8" long and fits in the side pocket of my bag w/ ease. If I am playing a scamble and things slow down near water, the game is on. Many courses have ponds that are loaded w/ small bass. I have caught 5-6 fish waiting for the group in front of us to tee off many times. Two years ago. I was playing a tournament and got hung up on a par 3 waiting for the group in front of us to play out and caught a 4 lb large mouth while waiting. This fish was a bit much for that rod combo. He made several runs smoking the drag. It was hard to stop fishing and start playing golf after that.
  15. Thanks Shawncat. That dough bait sounds like a mess. Just the thing that 8 year old boys would love. Thanks for the advice.
  16. Thanks 10pointer. It looks like a great event. I hope to get the den down to enjoy the day.
  17. Does anyone have the date and details on Kids day at Maramec Springs? I have a Cub Scout den that I would like to take fishing. I have never been to the kid’s day at any of the parks, but hear that the kids have a ball. Details and comments appreciated.
  18. Its a catch and release format. How does measuring and recording the fish effect the mortality any more than catch and release for fun? If I understand the format, you catch and release immediately at the location caught after measuring and recording the fish. This has to have the least impact on the fish of all tournament styles. I wish the BASS boys would us this format, it would be better for the sport. (not nearly as exciting at weight-in though)
  19. Call David at Ernies sales and service on Webb Creek at Clearwater Lake and he can fix you up. 573-461-2244.
  20. Thanks for the report. I enjoy them each time and look forward to them each week.
  21. Sounds a little slow for crappie fishing.
  22. Leave the boat fisherman alone. There are plenty of places to wade fish if you don' like boats. Taney should not be one of them. There are too many older or disabled fisherman that need the ability of a boat to fish. The last time I checked Bennett or Roaring Rivers don't allow boats... Fish there.
  23. I haven't seen many lamprey in the cold water fisheries, but we see quite a few in the warmer water streams. Not too many on game fish, but I have seen many on Buffalo fish in taken while gigging in the lower stretches of the Meramec river. Dern things come of the fish in the bottom of the boat and crawl into every crevice in the boat. You won't know thier there for a day or two. Then when the sun come out and warms things up, just follow your nose.
