  1. You just have to take it with a grain of salt. It looks like they are starting the 24/7 release. Let's hope it doesn't stay that way for long.
  2. It appears to be off. The Lake level is up, but, maybe this year they are not going to panic and let it drain all the way down. It's possible that they may be doing standard release in preparation for a dry summer.
  3. Hey, don't kid yourself. We, occasionally, have our share of drama. The difference is that we have very good moderators that keep us all in check. Phil Lilley is a Quality Individual and has been very gracious to provide a forum that we can all share and enjoy. Welcome aboard!
  4. I seem to remember somebody putting outriggers on a Kayak and putting the Trolling Motor on one of the outriggers.
  5. Same old stuff should work. I've actually had more success when the weather is slightly overcast. I hit Taney, Norfork and the White River last weekend. I've go too many honey-do's to do this weekend or I'd be there too. Oh, if you get bored with the same old stuff, start trying things like stripping wooly buggers, leeches, soft hackles and HE. The tug that you feel, while doing that, is addictive.
  6. When I grow up, I want to be able to tie flies like Brian. Nicely done!
  7. Yes. I caught a couple of Brookies right below the dam at Bull Shoals. They were small. I caught a Cut-Bow at Norfork and I caught a Rainbow that had fins marked like a Brook Trout. They weren't just white tipped. The fins were white tipped with the black line right behind it. I should've taken a picture of it.
  8. No. However, in truth, I wasn't in any situations where I would've selected the other swap flies. I intended to try your Wulf's but I didn't see any riffle water that looked productive.
  9. We fished TaneyComo Thursday night, for a couple of hours, using black Hibernators. Picked up several fish, but, nothing of any size. Drove to Gastons Friday morning and unloaded our luggage. Then drove over to Norfork to fish. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Fish were caught on #14 Hair and Copper, #18 Black Zebra Midges, White Wooly Buggers, Olive Wooly Buggers, Elk Hair Caddis and Crackle Backs. We lost track of the number of fish that we caught. Fished the trophy area Saturday morning. We had problems keying in on what was working until one of the guys, in our threesome, started slamming them on an Olive Wooly Bugger. I switched to an Olive Mohair Leech and it was game on! We were catching nice fish on every cast. (No monsters) We took a break for lunch and then went back out and fished the runs just up river from the boat ramp at BSSP. The fish were really stacked up in that area. I started by fishing an Olive PMS and immediately picked up fish. After about the 10th fish, they turned off on that. Since my brother was slamming them on every cast using the Hair and Copper, I switched to that. Again, game on with the Hair and Copper and I was picking up fish on every cast. We fished until it got dark and then we went to get something to eat. We decided to go back to that same area after we finished eating. My brother and I tried different patterns under a lighted indicator with nothing to show for it. The 2 other guys that were with us were stripping Black Hibernators and slamming them. We switched out our rigs and started stripping black Hibernators also and it was game on, again! My brother caught a 16 inch brown female and a 17 inch brown male. Lots of rainbows were caught with a few being larger than the browns. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. The water cooperated and the weather did to, although the wind was a little trying at times. I'm estimating that we caught and released about 700 - 800 fish between the 5 of us from Thursday night to Saturday night.
  10. Duane, How do you keep that tail from unraveling with that kind of chenille? I've tried singeing the ends but it usually still comes apart.
  11. Getting ready to leave town for my fishing trip. Checked the mailbox. My swap flies arrived!!! Thanks, Mic. Good Job!
  12. Guys, I'm not being snobbish. I just prefer to fly fish. I enjoy it more than spin fishing. The guys that I'm fishing with this week are like minded and we have fun challenging and helping each other. We've all had our share of big fish on spin tackle, however, the feel of a big fish on a fly rod is a different experience and that is what we are chasing. The only Zen we'll be experiencing is SNOO'Zen when we ain't fishin. My only expense for this trip is license and food and some gas. Everything else is paid for. I lucked in to the rooms at Gaston's because a business trip fell through for my Brother and these rooms were already paid for. I have a timeshare deal where I pay around $60 per month and I can stay at the resort in Branson anytime that I want. Nice Fish, JoeD! So far, my biggest on the fly rod is 7.5 lbs and 26 in.
  13. Guys, thanks for all of the advice, keep it coming. JCW, I'm just stubborn enough not to take the spinning gear. I've almost converted to fly rod only on all species. Part of my enjoyment with fly fishing is trying to be creative enough to catch fish in all situations and conditions. It's part of my obsession / addiction.
  14. Thanks Mic. I'm leaving Thursday around 5pm. Maybe I'll get lucky! Thanks, again, for hosting the swap.
  15. If the water is running, I'll either try to stay ahead of it, go to Norfork, if it is wadeable, do the water taxi at RimShoals or drive back up to Taney. And, yes, it is more important, to me, to FLYFISH. The outlets with lighted indicators was in reference to night fishing at TaneyCoMo, which is Plan B if they are generating. Plan A is streamer fishing.
  16. I'll be staying at Gastons 3/2 and 3/3 hoping to have some wadeable water to fish. Will be fishing with my Dad and Brother and a couple of friends. Gonna stop by Taney Thursday night. Hoping to have good water for some strippin'. If not, we'll just fish the outlets with lighted indicators for a little while. Do you guys have any suggestions for flies? I'll have Scuds, Midges, Eggs, Hibernators and Woolys.
  17. Nice. I'll have to pick up some of that fun fur.
  18. Happy birthday, duane. Hope you have a good strippin' night. On another note, have you ever eaten Gar? My brother swears by it and says that it tastes better than crappie.
  19. Nice report. I've been wanting to get out and get back down there. I may try to go this weekend. I have had different people say that they do pretty well on brown wooly buggers. I've never tried them in brown. I have been successful with white during a shad kill. Do you cast it quartered downstream, swing it and strip it back or do you drift it under and indicator?
  20. Most definitely planned.
  21. Mic, Have you received my flies in the mail, yet?
  22. Another WOT fan. I can't wait for the last book.
  23. Thanks Brian! That's the answer I was looking for. The video is 13 minutes in length and the .qt (QuickTime) format is 150MB in size. I am using the AVS4YOU Software suite and I really like it. There are 18 tools for editing Video, Audio, Images and file conversion. And, Yes, I was wanting as small a file size as possible to upload to YouTube. I have BroadBand access at home so the upload time won't take too long, but I was concerned about viewing performance.
  24. My concerns are the SIZE of the file not the format, but, thanks anyway.
  25. I could do that, but it would still be a little over 70 MB per file.
