  1. - That's great Champ, that made me chuckle out loud. I was waiting for someone to jump in there!
  2. Good point about the sharpie wearing off. I forget those things even occasionally exposed to the elements, aren't as permanent as they want you to believe. - And on a side note, I found another article with the dirtbags mugshot on it. In case anyone wants to see if they recognized this scum, sniffing around the docks. - http://www.connectmidmissouri.com/news/new....aspx?id=329620
  3. - Or the reel seat. With one of those fine point sharpies.
  4. Good report as usual Bill. And hats off to you and the others for squashing the idea of dragging those fish around for some weigh-in/execution.
  5. Fished a few nights ago from about 8 p.m. until about midnight. - We were on the water about an hour before the weather turned on us. Lightning ran us off for about an hour. Then we got back to it and fished in the rain the rest of the night. Rain, rain and more rain. - Water temps on the Grand Glaize were between 81 and 83. Air temps were about the same (I would guess, maybe a little cooler) - We threw Cabelas 2" Rad Shads all night, and had our best luck on the Firetiger and Crawdad color. (a few on the blue chrome) - Holding the boat, parallel to shore with the light on, casting a glow on the shoreline. The boat was in about 15-20 foot of water, we would make a cast towards shore, or parallel to shore. Just a slow, steady retrieve, you could occasionally feel the bottom if casting towards shore, but the most of the fish were hitting in about 8-10 foot of water. When we could feel the lure bumping through some shad, we would slow down, if not stop the retrieve for a second; and occasioanlly get bit. - We caught a mixed bag of small whites, several angry stripers hanging well over the end of my 18" board (couldn't find my scale......ggggrrrr), several keeper blacks, some monster crappie, and some nice sized cats too! - We were fishing lonnnnng, main channel shorelines with gradually sloping pea gravel banks. And one steeper bank, but if they had the pea gravel; that seemed to be key. - The action didn't really start until after dark. So get out there and tear 'em up!
  6. Heckuva a great cause. And hats off to you Eric for taking vets out on the water. Very admirable! - Not sure if I'll be able to make it, as I don't get down much. But, here's a bump to keep this thread fresh, and help me keep tabs on it in case I can break free.
  7. - Good one Eric, I got a good chuckle there. - But this thread is like a bad rash, just when you think it's going away......................SURPRISE!................it's back!............................from what I hear.
  8. Saw the super thick, 12' coated cable (looped ends) at our BPS tonight for $14.99, with the hitch/trailer supplies.
  9. I've also heard of guys buying baby monitors, and plugging in the transmitter part in the boat, off of the shore power on the dock. They would have the transmitter hidden somewhere in the boat to hear any walking around, or commotion. - Then of course they would have the receiver on the nightstand next to them to hear any ruckus. (although this would only work if your room was within close proximity to the dock) - Having little ones, I will recommend if anyone looking to buy a baby monitor; make sure you get one with the new DECT technology. We got a great Safety 1st brand for about $40. Otherwise, without that DECT option, the ridiculous amount of static/interference will keep you up at night.
  10. - dtrs, I'm pretty sure Moonshine Beach is open. My boss went down last weekend. But, double check just to be certain. (I'm 97% certain that's where he said he went? )
  11. Thanks for the details skeeter. That's the same exact setup I've seen. - All of 'em had the shrouded style padlcks too. Making it tougher for the bolt cutters to nip. (like in the link) - http://www.masterlock.com/commercial/security/
  12. - I'm with yah, S&M. It's a pain pulling all my gear out, but it's not worth the risk to me, leaving it in the boat overnight. I do the same thing. - I've noticed a few guys at the docks during tourneys, they use a super thick cable, with a jumbo padlock; locking the bow eye of the boat, to the supports of the dock. .................I know, I know, ......................if someone wants it bad enough, they'll get it. But, seeing how most theives are lazy bums; I wouldn't think they would waste time on a boat locked down, when there's 20 others unsecured.
  13. Awesome report, Thanks Bill! - I'll be down by the dam the first week of august, and this'll be my first time at Bull Shoals. Mainly fishing The Rock several times a year, I was'nt quite sure what to expect from Bull Shoals. But, this report gives me some confidence. - We'll be mainly night fishing, so it'll be interesting. Nice to hear about minimal boat traffic, too!
  14. - Good point fishin'. I'm not a conspiracy kinda guy, but something is definitely rotten here. (no pun intended) - You guys think the cities dependant on tourist dollars are behind it?
  15. - IF you get the gear out !?!?!?!.................aw man...................bust it out and let us know how yah did! - Sadly, I've got to fish vicariously through everyone on the boards for a while. - (although, I may be able to sneak down monday and fish, so any info you could post would certainly help rule out unproductive water )
  16. - That\'s awesome Eric. That\'s what I was curious about, just a general overview of the fall action. - Funny, when you said Wiggle Wart, I thought the same thing (picture Homer Simpson drooling).............."MMmmmmmm...............Wiggle Wart."
  17. - Hey Eric, is there an average time frame for how long the action lasts when it picks up in the fall? (I know there's a lot of variables to consider, but just an approximation)
  18. Good link fishin'! Glad to see ole KY3 is on the case. - DNR should be ashamed! - The first comment on the story brings up a good point. What if hundreds of tourists would've gotten sick from it? - I guess the tourism dollars are worth the risk? - Here's a bit more info too. It made the home page of the St.Louis Posts website here. - http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stor...4E?OpenDocument
  19. - That gave me a good chuckle this monring!
  20. - Thanks Eric, I'll take your advice............ put head outside for one week, resting head on bumper of a car in Arkansas.........................OH CRAP.................THIS HAS ALL GONE HORRIBLY WRONG! AAAAAAAAAARrrrrrgggggghhhh - If only those dern fishing reports were more accurate!
  21. - Thanks Eric, that duct tape was very effective. Any suggestions on a painless removal? - After I got some sleep too, I feel a little better.
  22. Dang rps, that hurts. You can't catch a break with that trolling motor. I recall your previous mishaps with that bad boy. I feel for yah. - And don't tell your wife this, but "Old Man and the Trolling Motor." ..............that's pretty dern funny! - Good Luck with it!
  23. Yup, I've seen the blugill do that. A little unnerving, but harmless.........................so far!
  24. The thought of people PM'ing or e-mailing guides and complaining about info they post, makes my head want to EXPLODE! - Heck, if these people were any sort of anglers, or truly wanted to become better anglers,; they would realize that patterns can change from one hour to the next. That's fishing, deal with it! Part of the fun to me is trying to figure out the puzzle............(sigh)...............and catching fish on a pattern I worked at; is that much sweeter! But, I guess I'm a little old fashioned that way.
  25. - This disgusts me Bill. Like the info on OAF is not ENOUGH!?!?!?!?..............people want to gripe about it?!?!!?.......IDIOTS!!! - Those who complain have got to be the complete whiners in the world; where nothing is good enough. They wouldn't be happy if they were hung with a new rope. And clearly, they do not visit other internet forums. Nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE else will you find such great info, and people who share it. - This highlights a real problem with some people today. They want everything spoon-fed to them, and then they still complain! Those complainers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! Unappreciative whiners! - I bet these complainers are the same people, who when fishing info IS spoon-fed to them; and it pays off, they brag about all the fish they caught, how they figured this out, and did that all on their own, etc., etc.................ggggggggrrrrrrrrr.............. - mclotheir summed it up best! - O.K., rant over. .........................whew!
