  1. Nice fish indeed! And nice resort too. Leon is a great guy there. - I didn't do that well last week. I hope to catch anything close to that in 2 weeks, when I'm back.
  2. 8 lb fluoro for me works well. The passed few years I've used a Hi-Vis Superline/braid mainline, and then a 30' (yes, 30 feet)flouro leader. - Works great to see those subtle movements in the line, when a fish is slowly walking off with it; and you can't feel it. - Guido Hibdon caught onto it this year, and credits winning a $100,000 tournament with it. - (I've been doing it for years, sadly I can't take credit with telling him. )
  3. Oh yah, forgot to mention. They were all released back safe and sound.
  4. Since I finally having something to contribute, I'll give it a whirl. - I was tired of hearing about, and seeing everyone throwing spinnerbaits, so I thought I'd mix it up. (and since there was a bit clearer water, and I'm better with finesse stuff) - Was down last week, and on saturday we had to hold on secondary points, windward side, had the boat in about 30' of water. - The water clarity was at about 1-2' at best in parts of the KC area. - Carolina rigged a finesse worm and slowly brought it along gradual sloping banks. (while spinnerbait guys hugged the shore, well away) - Caught a 3.5 lb smallie and several other keepers in the 2-3 lb range. - It was tough using finesse tackle in the wind, but it worked! - We had to move it very slow, and actually stopping it for a few seconds worked too. It seemed after stopping it for a few seconds, it's like the smallies were sitting there watching it. And when you started creeping it again, they'd nab it! - Kinda like playing with a dog and a rope. If you keep the dog away from the rope for a second, leave the rope sit and the dog won't touch it. But start it movin', and the dog pounces!- - This worked in several different coves. It certainly is not a search bait, but since we had a good idea where they'd been in the past; we went for 'em again. - Hope this helps!
  5. I hear yah! - Thankfully, I've never had to resort to bed fishing. Always honed my skills elsewhere.
  6. On the Missouri Water Patrol's website, they have registered 175. (If I recall correctly?) - I don't think that's an exact count though. But should be close. - http://www.mswp.dps.mo.gov/regattas/RegRes...bRegatta=Search
  7. Got to try these grubs on The Rock this week. They do have some intersting action. But nothing spectacular. The plastic didn't seem as tough or soft as others, it seemed to tear a bit easy. - The fishing was tough this weekend, so no fish on it, but I'm not sure if this week was the best test? - Anyway, I don't fish grubs very often, so others may have a better opinion of them. But I would say they are worth a shot, and I will certainly try them again when I'm back down next month.
  8. - Thanks for the post. I've been intently watching to see if anyone got out today. I'll be down tomorrow afternoon and the rest of the week. Hopefully things will be hoppin' for us, and I'll have something to report.
  9. Yikes! I felt bad for the Heartland guys initially too. But after those weights, looks like the nasty weather was worth the beating.
  10. I've heard others mention they saw realtime (or somewhat) pictures of the dam online. But no one can find a link, and I'm having trouble myself. - Anyone have a good link, or pix they can post?
  11. not sure if this is the right forum for this topic, so the mods can certainly move it if need be. - Anywho, I picked up a pack of these last night in Pumpkin Pepper. The pumpkin color is very light when held up to the light, almost verging on a green pumpkin smoke with flecks. - I grabbed the 4" and am eager to give them a try. The pictures don't do them any justice. That fin like thing on the back is a clamshell design, which is very soft and appears that it will flare out when in the water. But that's yet to be seen. - The tails rattle chamber is a good size, so you could fit even those large tube rattles in them if needed. - But, I guess the real proof will be if they catch fish..............we'll see?
  12. Great to see! - I'll be down the end of next week and next weekend. We actually will be staying in Schooner Creek. Hope to have results even 'close' to that. (fingers crossed)
  13. Just curious if anyone has tried the Mister Twister G-Grubs yet? - I'm intrigued b y the clamshell design of the back that opens, and that ball thing on the tail. - I'm gonna buy some, just curious what others have to say? - - http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...b&noImage=0
  14. - Thanks for the welcomes guys! - Cardiac, you lucky dog! I hope in a few years I'll get to live down there too.
  15. Just wanted to say Hello and thanks for the great site, as a new member. I've been lurking around a while and am addicted to all the info available. - I saw someone post this site on another message board, so I had to come check things out. And I'm glad I did! - I get down to Table Rock a few times a year, and am absolutely in love with that lake. The real time fishing reports here are very interesting, and will definitely come in handy. It will be a great resource when on the water, and trying to get a general idea on where to begin. - Thanks again, and keep up the good work. ................ Douglas
