  1. 4lb. vanish or anything else with a 4lb. leader. Fly fishing I use 6X tippets.
  2. Will do........ How did fishing at LOZ go?
  3. Nice cat. Glad to help. Make sure you use swivels to prevent breaks from line twist.
  4. Already posted on my largemouth, but my best brown (smallie) was probably out of the Osage river on a minnow while I was crappie fishing a couple months ago. I grew up catching the toad smallmouths in Table Rock Lake, but the Osage fish was just a monster. It was one of the first browns I caught out of the Osage, but I have since landed several more in 2-4 lb. range! I guess I just found a nice little pocket.
  5. Good to have another one of Cedar County's finest on the forum. No need to bring a boat that far. Bank fishing / wading is just fine.
  6. Sounds like a good time. Tight Lines.
  7. Catch any fish up there?
  8. Try a lighter weight. It sound like the fish are dropping it.
  9. just got back............ 50+ crappie on blue and white slabslayers. Most were medium sized, nothing huge. All lived another day.
  10. Thanks! heading down in the afternoon........will let you know!
  11. Buy some minnows and try them in the middle of the current. I've got a ton of catfish that way. Also, try down stream near the log jams on the north side before you get under the bridge.
  12. Anyone hear anything about Bagnell?
  13. I think a lot of the issue depends on the pond. MOST medium-large ponds need at least 500lbs. + of bass harvested from them each year. Otherwise the all too common small bass syndrome starts to prevail. I make it a point to kill bass in a pond with large numbers of small bass. This truly helps the population. Additionally, NOT stocking crappie in a bass pond will increase the size dramatically. While I don't like people killing bass in Table Rock, in ponds harvest is truly needed to maintain a healthly population of large bass.
  14. No joke! I have one of last years models also and it feels like throwing a brick compared to the E model! It's amazing the difference a year makes! I love this reel. I will never buy anything else.
  15. Go above fall creek and throw a shad rap or black and yellow rapala. You will get less fish, but they are generally PIGS! Jigs are also the ticket! Bass sized baits pick up bass sized trout!
  16. I agree. Make sure to top them all off with REEL MAGIC.
  17. UPDATE: I have fished this reel for almost a month. I can say hands down it is once of the best reels I have ever used.
  18. I love pond fishing!!!! If I had to pick only one bait, I would have to go with the Zara Spook. For some reason, bass LOVE to come up and whack the snot out of anything on the top of the pond. For sinking baits, I like a jig and pig or a small white spinner bait. I grew up fishing Table Rock, so I try to take advantage of throwing things other than soft plastic when I am fishing a farm pond. Not to knock on the Rock, but fishing finesse rigs gets old after a couple months.
  19. As I said, you can NEVER snag above the 54 bridge. I'm going to head down this week sometime.
  20. I think above the 54 bridge ALL snagging regardless of the season or species is prohibited.
  21. Farm pond, spinnerbait, 2ft. of water on the bank last July. 8lb. + Largemouth.
  22. Cool, thanks for posting!
  23. Does he look like Dale Earnhardt? This guy was unreal! I'm a friendly guy and he still made my blood boil. Sometimes the best part of fishing is talking to the complete stranger next to you for a couple of slow hours of fishing (Many thanks to the ol' boy from Columbia at Bagnell for the conversation and helping me with my huge wiper last Friday). Heck, I even love talking to everyone on this forum and I have never met a single one of you guys in person. Good night gentlemen.
  24. Use as little weight as possible to get the bait down to the bottom. Also, the smaller baits catch 10X the fish (small and large) as the big baits. In fact I've seen more big cats landed on small baits than the large shad. Next time try a single small shad or a thin strip of belly meat with the shad guts. I use bait the size of a little smokie with a 1oz sinker or less. You might need to bounce the bottom to catch fish if the current is swift. Last summer we caught 90% of our cats with NO weight, just the bait and hook. Tight lines.
