  1. Yep. Set your team roster now and don't wait. Like moguy said you miss a full week of points and you can pretty much forget about the rest of the year. All but impossible to make up 800-1000 points that you lose out on. I don't want any belly aching from guys that forgot. You snooze you looze!
  2. No problem. You summed up why I like them nicely. Just straight forward why they like stuff and why they use it. Sure most of it is Shimano and Loomis stuff...but hey they are both at the top of the spectrum in fishing gear for the most part. So it's warranted! But like you said they are not married to any brand. They also give info on "value buys" on gear. They just put out some videos over the holidays that covered some gear options for the budget fisherman ($100 reel, $100 rod ballpark price point). The deep clear lakes that they fish in CA are somewhat similar to TR so a lot of the info Matt and Tim divulge translates. Swimbaits, A-Rigs, Jerkbaits, Jigs, Spoons, Finesse, etc. info that they give you can take parts (if not all of it) and use it in your approach on TR. Great stuff.
  3. That is Matt Allen and his buddy Tim Little that make up the "Tactical Bassin'" team. They have, in my opinion, the best bass fishing videos in the country. They go so in depth and in detail from baits, gear, presentation, seasonal patterns, etc that it is just incredible. I believe they guide on Clear Lake in CA and are well versed in the CA Delta fisheries. That video is from a local CA lake that I don't believe they name (and probably for good reason).
  4. Sounds good. We will go with top 3 get a share of the "payout". At the end of the year I will let everyone know who to send to. Thanks to all who are participating and should be fun!
  5. Just end of the season.
  6. Ketchup, You make entrant #20. Pretty solid number and guys (and ONE gal) in the league now. For those of you that have joined the league, how would you like to "payout" as far as 1st place, 2nd, 3rd, etc.? You want to do winner take all where only the first place finisher gets all the 20+baits? Or would you like the total # of baits divvy'd up? For example 1st place gets 12 baits, 2nd place gets 5 and 3rd gets 3. Let me know so we don't have any conflict after the season has already started. Let me know! FYI to league members Rosters lock at 06:00 AM ET on 02/09/2017. Good luck to all!
  7. In the end I think this is the biggest issue and it really does border on insanity. Heck more people are willing to read the owners manual of their newly purchased 1 horse power weed wacker than they are to even educate themselves on the 350 HP boat they just dumped into the lake and mashed the throttle down. I know that MO now requires a boating safety test if you were born after Jan. 1st 1984. I believe that is only a written test??? Should be some sort of actual operational/drivers test with an instructor. Require 10 hours with an instructor or something to that effect.
  8. Or that......lol
  9. Not touching that.....
  10. Ya but we haven't had this winters annual wake boat bashing or fish killing thread yet! It's about that time as winter is coming to an end (hopefully) pretty soon.
  11. It was meant to be a joke as "lake lice" are always miffing fisherman off. I don't want jetskis to be banned, as heck, I ride ours from time to time. Kids, teens and young adults enjoy them. I do not own the lake and I would not want them banned. They don't bother me too much when fishing other than the occasional moron getting too close or cutting between the bank and myself. The only issue I have IS with the wake boats with the extra 500-1000lbs of ballast weight that cause damage to docks, property and bounce me around the boat when fishing. The big OCEAN rigs should also be banned from the lake in my opinion. Needs to be a boat size restriction on TR. The house boats are fine as they don't put out much wake with their flat hull design. The big cabin cruisers on the other hand put out major rollers at just about any speed and that is not cool.
  12. They are never alive when we pull up the traps. They drown to death overnight. Either leave them in the trap as extra bait or just throw them back in the lake and make the turtles happy.
  13. These get caught in our traps with regularity.
  14. Family has been trapping crawdads under our dock and in our slips for decades. For the longest time we used the round ones that broken down into two halves to open. They did a decent job. We currently have one that is larger and rectangular that my grandfather bought locally. Not sure where he got it but it does a better job at not only retaining the crawdads but also has a hanging bait holder in the center of the trap that does great. The crawdads seem to live longer in the trap as it doesn't get as overcrowded. The bait hanger also makes bait last 20x longer than when we used to just throw chicken bones, fish parts or other bait into the round traps. We actually use round unsliced bologna as it fits perfectly into the round bait hanger and it lasts FOREVER. Usually set out traps in 12-18 feet of water or so and you will get 95% of your crawdads at during the night. Good luck.
  15. Could only go off the previous administrations intel which cited only jetski's as detrimental to fisherman and their lakes. I believe wake boats will be added to the legislation next week along with a list of boats with registration #'s (you know who you are....ut humm Alex...ut humm) that I provided to The Don to permanently ban them from Beardsley Creek.
  16. A great day for America....and Table Rock!
  17. Some people think I am high when they see the roster I pick for these tournaments!
  18. Not going to lie I am also entered in 8 leagues as well. You don't have to fill out a separate team for each league just ONE and it is good across all the leagues. Why the heck not? Doesn't require any extra effort other than clicking "joint group". Could win some nice gear that I don't have room for...lol.
  19. I've seen a few smallies in the dam area that have had it. Never any K's though.
  20. I will be very generous when I am out of winning contention by tournament #10 of 11. I'll be sure to send you my Plano box of mint Helicopter Lures. It's only missing ONE bait. No green pumpkin as that might have actually caught a fish and would have ruined the mystique of the classic lure. Roland must have hoarded all the GP's when the kits were still in production.
  21. Drop brush piles on each lake the Elite's fish this year then only tell the guys you pick where they are.
  22. I actually made a mistake in regards to changing your "entry name/handle". To change your handle to match your Ozark Angler handle click on your blue hyperlinked entry name. Then click "edit entry settings" next to your current handle. Then just edit your name to match you OA handle. Sorry for the confusion.
  23. I'd imagine that Champ picks whomever has the most sponsors glued to his jersey. His 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices are who looks best in buffs. His last pick is undoubtedly Tommy Biffle, as Champ likes to support guys that where nut hugger short shorts, much like himself.
  24. Also, for those of you who have entered the league already go ahead and change your handle to match you handle here at Ozark Anglers if you would. Would just make it easier to know who is who. To change your current handle to match your Ozark Angler handle click on your blue hyperlinked entry name. Then click "edit entry settings" next to your current handle. Then just edit your name to match you OA handle. Thanks!
  25. It's super easy. Sign up. Join the Ozark Anglers Group. You have 5 pools to choose from and you pick one angler from pool A, B, C, D and E. Click on them to add to your "team". Tie breaker you enter the winning weight for the tournament. Submit your team. Done. That simple. 5 min or less process.
