  1. Had a great morning on the lake. 30 or so fish with around 10 keeps. Throwing a fluke in the bushes. Kicker weighed 6.3. Best five about 19 lbs.
  2. its Bobby Loyd, who else?

  3. If I were you I would just quit fishing....
  4. Cant wait to weigh in a bad of big lake O bass on that trailer at the end of the month.
  5. Hey man, me and my dad have been doing this with our spinning reels for a while and it saves money. We fill up the spool just a little bit then take tape and wrap it around the line, then just spool on the rest with what we are going to use.
  6. I would concentrate on school because i know how much fishing can become a priority and the end results are not good. Just concentrate on your test and think about fishing later.
  7. MST, sounds like a fun day for sure. I think that you did the right thing by going to forsyth. The guy who gave you some spots to hit is a smart guy, you should listen to him cuz he knows what he is talking about. lol. Na you guys did good.
  8. I dont know what part of the country you are from but If you can wait till the end of the month,(or in some locations march), you can find a great deal on a higher priced reel or rod at the Bass Pro spring fishing classic. If I was in your position, I would wait and get a higher quality rod or reel for less expense. I would look at the Abu Garcia Revo. I have a few of the "cheapest" ones that they make and I don't know if I will ever go to anything else. I absolutely love this reel. It has a smaller profile than most of the ones on the market and this allows it to fit perfectly in the palm of my hand, it is also a light weight reel and has a great drag system. Also at the spring classic, they run great deals on bass pro brand products. One of the rods that I would recommend is the Bass Pro Extreme, the 6'6 med/heavy is a great rod that will allow you to throw anything you want. Keep in mind that a 6'6 med hvy is not the best rod to throw a dd 22 on but it can. I hope this helps out. cofobasser
  9. SAM, just sayin... It takes less time for me to run there than to drive there and not that much gas. I wasn't going after trout, I was trying to target bass. As for the docks, I idle past the major resort docks and even some fisherman where the lake is more narrow. Down past branson it does not hurt the docks at all. I respect docks and the dock owners because my family ownes one on table rock. Thanks for the helpfull info but I know how to be respectfull to docks. Just sayin..... As for my trip, the bass where hard to come by on the main lake, most of the larger coves are frozen over. Did catch a trout on a jerk bait but that was it.
  10. Thanks for the info. I found a private ramp that I can use right above lilly's, but I am going down to rockaway to go after some bass. I have never really fished taney at all, except from docks. I am mostley a bass guy on the bigger lakes, but I thought it would be a challenge to go down and try to catch some bass this winter down there.
  11. I have not fished taney from a boat before and was wandering what I need to look out for if I want to run from Lookout to Rockaway area. And i have a 140 evinrude that runs 53, how long should it take. Thanks for the help
  12. MST Student, As far as fishing goes you should listen to your buddy back home. He is a great fisherman and will also be fishing LOZ in march. I think he showed you all the colors mentioned above the last time he saw you. What a guy. lol
  13. I had the pleasure of meeting Dick through the Branson Bass Club. He was a great guy to be around and his wife is the same. He always made time to talk to a college kid about fishing and I really apreciate that. He was a great member of the club and a great fisherman. My prayers go out to sue and his family.
  14. My take is that people have been fishing these bed fish for years and years and our fishery has not sufferd one bit. I also agree that people who are catching these fish on shakey heads, jigs, and more than anything split shot, are pulling cruisers and fish off of the beds this time of year. Its not un ethical at all.
  15. Hello, My name is Robert Loyd and I am a Business Major at College of the Ozarks in Hollister Missouri. I am currently looking for an internship oppertunity for this summer. I know that this does not have to do with fishing but I know that there are a lot of good guys on this site and I was just wandering if anybody would know anything that could help me out. I appreciate the feedback.\ Thanks and God Bless. Robert Loyd
  16. Hey man I kinda see were u are comming from but I know that I am 21 years old and I get tired after standing all day in wind and rain. Ive fished 2 days in a row and I am a little tired and there are guys out there that are getting up there that do it 4, 5, 6, sometimes more days a week. That is amazing and I respect those guys. I LOVE those glitter boats though, they are freakn cool. I gotta get me one of them after college
  17. All you guys need to stop crying about the same issue. I have got on here and read about all this and it makes me sick. I dont know if some of you guys are jealus of the pro's or what the deal is but lets just stop talking about it and grow up. Its over now. I can only imagine what somebody getting on this site for the first time is thinking about this great sport I love after reading this topic. I talked to one of the pro's before and after he won the flw tour event. Before, during and after the win he was as humble as anybody I know. It says something when a pro will take an hour out of his day to talk to a college kid. All the FLW guys were really nice and it did do a lot for our area economy. We also had 32 college basketball teams in town for the NAIA D II tourney. It def. brought in some money. Anyway my rant is over. I think nothing bad about these anglers. Most of them are class acts. Ohh, and I dont get what the big deal is with the pro's saying that they had a bunch of fish hit but get away. SERIOUSLY, if it bothers you that much dont listen. I listened to it all weekend and it didnt effect me at all. I dont worry about what they say. Im me, let them be them. Ive heard those stories ever since I was born and the tournaments have just gotten bigger and bigger. Dont think the public cares too much if they say that they lost fish.
  18. Hey all you guys who live around branson. College of the Ozarks is playing in the NAIA D II Basketball championship tonight at 8 50. Anybody who can make it out should come. I will be wearing a bright yellow hard hat so if you see me come by and say HI. GO BOBCATS
  19. I go to College of the Ozarks and If anybody is going from this area, I would be interested
  20. I have to agree about the new K Dock. I went out with a few guys that are fishing the FLW college series with me and we took out of K Dock. It was a high of 32 without the gusty wind and they were open and the guy who runs it was out when I pulled in and helped tie up the boat and welcomed us inside to warm up by the fire. What a great family and wonderfull people. Will definatley be doing business there in the future. On a bad day we had great fishing. It still took 5 fish to win and we had some guys just learning catch a few and now they have caught the bug. Love that upper end and water temps at 44 to 46 in Jan. That is crazy. Great time with great people. Just cant wait till May on Kentucky Lake, first FLW college fishing stop.
  21. Got to the lake at 7 on saturday and just my luck, my big motor didnt start. After that the side face on one of my reels fell in the lake. I decided to stay and fish some wind blown chunk rock with my trolling motor, glad I did. Fishing was good, Caught 20 bass with 4 Keepers but they where good ones. I also got into some nice whites throwing a half ounce spinnerbait. Fished till 1 and then left. Good day even though a series of unfortunate events. Good Fishn,
  22. I was on here a while back talking about joining the branson bass club because I am a student at C of O and we dont have one on campus yet. Im back after a summer away and just wandering if its still at the electric company and what where the dates of the meetings. Thanks and good fishing. Robert Loyd.
  23. She weighed 5.4 after she had been in the well all day. Dont worry everyone, I released her back to spawn. I didnt weigh her as soon as I caught her.
  24. I have been fishing for a little while now and have not had a real high water spring in a long time. Finally got it and the result is huge fish. I couldnt believe the fish that was caught last weekend at the heartland. I was there to watch the weigh in (I hate college costs) and it was unlike anything I have ever seen on the rock as far as big fish. WOW. I also want to think one of the Nitro pro staff guys, (You know who you are) for taking me out to get a feel of the Z-9. Awsome boat and if anybody wants to give me 50 grand I will buy one, but for me that just seems crazy to pay that much for a boat. Anyway what a tournament and congrats to Rick for a incredible tourney. He is a great guy and a real good ambassador for the sport of fishing. I had my cousin, who has never seen a tourney, and he was impressed. Back to fishing, I love to flip and throw the blade and i havnt been able to do this for a while now. Here is one I caught a few weeks ago, I thought I had a good one but after the heartland tourney, its incredible to see the amount of 6 lbrs comming in. Love the Rock.
  25. Im fishing the BLT sunday at bolivar landing, anybody hear if its still going to happen after all this rain?
