Champ, it may not be that easy but it sure makes good readin up here in Totoland. That is what I call PJF panic junk fishin. It is common for me to bounce around all day looking for some consistency and by the end of the day have a fish or two on several baits but if I didn't leave a breadcrumb Or two along the way I'll be durned if I could repeat it the next day. It's a whole thing different fun fishin than guidin which I don't do. I always throw plenty of the favorites because I'm paranoid of painting myself into a corner. Ya'll get em good for those of us who can't be there.

It's pretty simple really. The thief was a meth head which means lots of things, one of which is that he can't think past his nose. Lived 6 blocks away and returned to the scene of the crime for who knows why! The owner followed him, got a tag number and then as for the meth head...... it just gets worse from there.

This boat has been found ! Long Story. Stupid Thief !!! Thanks for reading.

I know this is off topic but a lot of people read this forum so I hoped it would be ok to post here. This boat was stolen today in Coweta Oklahoma. Keep your eyes peeled. Here is the boat serial number EJS0163E798 Here is the motor serial number 0G406306 http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i75/mctkbury21/101_6525-2.jpg

I would go back over the installation. I'll bet you can locate something out of place.

I concur that you concur............. (but I really don't get that yellow sauce much up here in toto land.) LOL
-
Lots of good points there Techo. Yellow Q sauce is hard to turn down. Maybe just an open time to stop in when possible from 11:00 to 4:00 on whatever day. The guides or any of the OAF members can stop in for a quick get together maybe. sort of an open house?

I like the ideas presented here. a Table Rock get together for a little fishin and a no frills bar b-q would be nice. Creating an identifying article to present on our boats is a good idea also, for lots of different reasons. I don't need to name them as I'm sure several will come to mind not the least of which is safety if we just think about it for a minute. My next idea is probably not gonna go over too good but I'll throw it out and see what sticks. We could use a bright florescent flag with a suction cup to stick on the outboard or the windshield. Here's the kicker, in an effort to demonstrate how we feel as competent boaters using a public resource how about developing a fairly simple etiquette and safety questionnaire. Those who fill it out appropriately get the flag and will carry the message that we as a group hold a few basic principles strongly when it comes to boating and ramp behavior and courtesy. I'm not suggesting a college exam or a test grading procedure that takes a security clearance but a simple written exercise that will demonstrate a brief acknowledgment at the least of some valuable concepts that will foster good experiences when observed. OK, I'll back away from the keyboard for a while. I'm just sayin....... it's been a long winter.

Maybe this will help a bit. I think a parabolic rod will bow evenly throughout it's length. Most rods bow near the tip unless subjected to high pressure and then some will distribute that down the blank to some extent. A true parabolic will begin to bow or flex and distribute that from tip to handle. It's a different animal.

Greg, I rarely use a deep diving jerkbait. I'm not sure about on LOZ but on clear water like Table Rock sometimes the fish hang out a little deeper. The other thing I would keep in mind is water temp. If the water is in the low 40's or colder then I might use a deep diver. Early in the day might be a good time to use a deep diver. Sometimes the fish don't seem to be up shallow until the sun has been shining for several hours.

Thanks for all the marvelous responses. I really appreciate it.

I can't add any better suggestions than Eric's. Aunts is getting to be hightecho aunt it ? It aunt funny.

That is a really nice fish. Jerkbait ? Jig? Grub? Banjo Minnow? You mean you might of went Iky ?
-
OK guys. Give me some choices for topwater, jerkbait, and jig brands. Only list the absolute top quality, most effective producers regardless of price that you know of in your area. I don't need to know about anything generic or average or cheap. Pick two choices in each category. 1) Topwater 2) Jerkbait 3) Jig If you want to say why this particular model or brand stands out then that's all good too. _________________

Its just that hot to the point that no one wants to let the cat out of the bag on how insanely good the fishing is there right now? I hope thats the case I hope you're right. I been reading every day keeping a close eye for something exciting. Things are slow up here in Toto land.

Well, thanks for the replies gents. I think I didn't ask bluntly enough. What I was curious about was do you generally have wire or thread tied skirts? Or do you have the type with the elastic band?
-
I'm not down there on a regular basis but you can probably have some success fishing sloping and somewhat flatter locations with small gravel as opposed to the bluffs or the large shelf rock type shoreline. There should still be some fish being caught on jerkbaits but the grub bite should be close to full steam by then. Try sitting out in 25-30 foot of water and throwing up shallow. Count it down to the depth you want to try and use a steady retrieve. Quite often this bait produces best when slow reeled right on the bottom. 1/4 oz darter head with natural color 4" curl tail grubs are fairly standard. Some days or a bit later in the day you may need to move out deeper so you can fish your bait down on the bottom in the 20=30 ft. zone.Don't forget to throw a spinnerbait a little bit too. Keep checking back here and some of the locals will post up some more accurate on target info.

Hey guys, When I am looking at jigs I prefer those that have thread or wire tied skirts. When I look at my stash I find that the majority of my jigs use an elastic band to hold the skirt. Which style do you prefer and which do you have? It appears that I am buying a jig based on other features and then I am stuck with the however the skirt is fastened.

I was able to watch the weighin live on FLW's website. It was real nice. The trophy presentation was very nice also.

I've had good luck with BPS fluoro in 14#. I rarely use braid. Trilene 100% for everything else works for me. GETFISHED!!!

Captain Joe, you offered some suggestions for my friend who was having trouble getting his HDS 10 to lock on the bottom. Your suggestion to turn the sonar off before raising the motor to the stow position was the answer to the problem. Thanks for the tip. Steve GETFISHED !!!

I fished Shawnee Bend Wednesday last week. Water temp was 34.8 -35.3 and had a fairly heavy stain. The lake was lowered by several feet. On Thursday I put in at PB2 and had to break ice to get into the Grand Glaize. It was too thickly frozen all day to get onto the main lake so we just stayed in the Grand Glaize. The water was slightly warmer at 35.5- 37.1 but dingier. We didn't see many shad, dead or alive in the Shawnee Bend area but we saw plenty in the Grand Glaize. We fished jerkbaits, jigs, tubes, spoons, and dropshots and still went home Thursday night with a skunk. Most activity we saw on the electronics was between 20-30 ft. The air temps were 19 in the morning and peaked at about 35 on Wednesday and 40? on Thursday. I would probably look for some cleaner water between the Gravois and the dam, or maybe in the Niangua. Hope this helps, good luck. GETFISHED !!!

Motor Guide Tr109 Digital Trolling Motor
getfished replied to Cajunangler's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Cajunangler I need a trolling motor. It needs to be a Motorguide. I'm not quite ready to buy yet but the issue for me is I need a 24 volt. I don't really have anywhere to stash a third battery. I guess I could use my cranking battery as the third one. I'm not sure how that would work but I've heard some guys have done that. That sounds like a pretty reasonable deal and I'm sure you will move it soon. Good Luck. -
OK, thanks for that update also. I'll pass it along.

Thanks for the quick response. Greatly appreciated ! I will forward this info to my bud and we'll see what happens. It may be a week to ten days turnaround on the feedback but I'll let ya know. Thanks
