Since 5PM Thursday we've had more than 8" and its still raining. Were near Hickory Creek. Went across the White on 412 a bit ago and it looks wild. Muddy with plenty of logs/trees in the water. Yesterday the fishing report in the paper said stripers are already to point 12...I find that a little hard to believe this early. Anybody catching stripers upstream yet?

Help With Hot Tub Shad Tank For Beaver Stripers
LarryC replied to fishofexcellence's topic in General Angling Discussion
Sorry I can't help on your tank question...that size tank is way out of my realm. Are you planing on selling Salties? I would like to give them a try. -
October 15th marks the start of the War Eagle Craft Fair. Brings couple hundred thousand people to the area...dependent on who’s counting. The only reason I mention it, is because Rocky Branch campground fills up fast with the rest not far behind. Probably won’t be much color this early but who knows anymore.

It appears the word is officially out with this article in this morning’s paper. A Way With Walleye

CaptainJoe, what size hook are you using with crawlers?
-
There tearing up night crawlers on the drop shot now...25 feet deep and deeper over trees. The only problem is finding the keepers. I went Friday and caught one that would measure while using up a whole box of worms.

They have a fair size selection of lures...not huge. I like the higher quality jigs they carry. Also have some of the harder to find lines...flurocarbon and the like. Cams tackle comes to town and rents the Lowell school gym for a weekend each spring and fall. They will have a lot of close outs but they also will have some nuggets and usually the price is good.

Just got in from cleaning fish. Started at the water intake by Starkey and worked my way up stream to Rocky Branch. Marked a lot of fish by the intake and also at point 5 but didn't catch nuthin until I got to Rocky Branch. 25' down and they like Bomber Long A's. This was a quick getaway...I didn't have time to get bait.

Yes...generators will run continuously from Friday until Aug 1, than 12 hours daily until the lake hits 1,120 foot. The lake will drop about 6" every day. It's part of there flood control plan.
-
Starting Friday the Corp will be running the generators continuously to drop the lake 5 foot or so. This should sit up a current. How will the striper bite be effected? Will they concentrate in any particular area?

Do you guys ever rig two hooks?
-
Hybrid on the right with the fat belly and broken stripes. Striper on the left. I think sometimes the hybrids are a bit meaner than the stripers. After Beaver flood gates were opened last year AG&F was rounding up the stripers and hybrids the next day in the tailwater. They can consume a massive number of those nearly tame trout stocked below Beaver, so they are not much welcomed.

Navonics is HotMaps...Fishing Hot Spots is a different company...or am I mixed up again? I bought FHS’s for my 520 because it seems that’s what most folks are using here on Beaver. I’ve used it some on TR. On Beaver it’s not very good up the river arms...might find myself some day on a gravel bar. Do you guys think Navonics is more accurate?

I bet a little minor adjustment would have this one purring like a kitten. Wonder what kind of ticket the corp will give out for illegal parking. The trailer is about as bad as the boat...guess that's why they unhooked as soon as it was up the War Eagle ramp. Contrary to popular opinion the stripers are still in the river...but I bet for not long. Had my limit by 7:15 this morning and saw a guide boat working hard on there limits. All schoolly fish eating whatever was thrown to em. The White is still chocolate with a lot of floating debris...so if you go watch out.

Looks Like A Hoodoochie Is On The Way!
LarryC replied to Danoinark's topic in General Angling Discussion
Corp said yesterday that Beaver would crest at 1129.5' with no additional rain. They also said there was a possibility they might have to open the flood gates...flood stage is 1130'. I knew what a “Hoodoochie” is...that’s when it’s raining toads...just like what it was doing a little bit ago in beautiful Nob Hill Arkansas. -
Trolling Motor Installation Advice
LarryC replied to rps's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I’m on my first Terrova but had a PD with AP before. Mounted both with stainless steel through bolts and used big (fender washers) along with nylon lock washers...they have never loosened one bit. After mounting my last Terrova I headed to the lake. It deployed at 70 mph on the highway. A little cosmetic damage to the skeg. The reason it deployed was because the locking mechanism was a little stiff and I didn’t slam the motor down...and double check to make sure it was locked. The little green light should also go off. -
I have a 2000 Starcraft Pro Elite...sometimes know as the BIG Black Tanker. Twin outboards (sorta) on the back...9.9 Johnson Sailmaster and a 150 Mercury (non discrimination). Sometimes we do have a little advantage like yesterday with gale force winds. I was cruising down the lake at 35 mph in comfort when I looked back and saw two of them little boats tucked up behind me. I call Beaver my home but hope to get up on the rock a few times this year. Edited to add pics just for Bman. First fish caught out of the BIG Black Tanker...had a third one in the livewell but he was far to heavy for me to hold up for a picture. Rainy day in the dock with one of the relations kid.

Cept for crappie and shrooms. Might be a wee bit cool yet...but time is fast approaching.

Guns, sonar units 5% off. Fishing reels and boating accessories 10% off. Fishing lures 20% off. 30% off on a lot of other stuff. Shelves are already beginning to look bare. Didn’t find much that I really needed...especially since that brown truck just made a visit yesterday with much needed supplies. Kathy found a whole bunch of items she needed...all in the clothing department.

The world famous Monte Ne Chicken. Think a chicken dinner served just like your at home. Only open certain days of the week so call first. Prairie Creek marina also has a restaurant on the water. I think all the marina’s still have gas...its been years since I bought any as there is a cost associated with the convenience. Looks like were going to get a warm up after this weekends blast of winter. Hope you load the boat...I've had good luck on white bass in the back end of Indian Creek this time of year.
-
I’m thinking of trying Click here...Black Saltys. Anybody else use them? A family member started using them last year in Kansas for big flatheads and had some success.
-
First bluff downstream from the islands...a long ways upstream from the 412 bridge. Next time you get down this way our striper club meets second Tuesday of the month 7PM at the Golden Corral in Rogers. I caught a couple of hybrids also...they were the same size as the whites. Didn't have a bite until I was upstream of the islands about a mile or so.
-
Went up the White this morning after stripers. Not a bite. Started looking for white bass...easy to find the small males. Don’t know where the big sows are hiding. So...I settled for 10 white bass, and 4 crappie. Also caught a few short black bass. Excitement for the day was seeing a guy catch a spoonbill, maybe about 40 pounds. He hooked the fish on a small spinning outfit...said his line was braid so that was his salvation. Water temperature 58 degrees at the 412 bridge and warming upstream to 60.
-
What a sack...over 22 pounds. We don't want this getting out or those Table Rock boys may sneak down here.
-
If you still have those instructions I would be most interested.
