There are several places to fish on beaver. The one you are talking about I think is off of Slough Hollow Road. Take 160 east, when you cross over beaver creek turn right at next road that is Slough Hollow. Follow till you see the creek. After getting on Slough Holow,if you go another quarter mile and take another right onto a little dirt road, that will take you to the maiden bottoms which is where everyone was catching whites on Thursday. Good Luck.

SLOUGH HOLLOW ROAD IS THE ROAD YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO TAKE HOME A STRINGER OF WHITES LAST NIGHT. BITE WAS AWFUL SLOW BUT WITH SOME PATIENCE IT WOULD COME AND GO AND SLOWED DOWN RIGHT AFTER DARK.

EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT. I ONLY FLOAT THE JAMES, BEAVER CREK, AND OCCASIONALY SWAN IF THE WATERS RIGHT AND RARELY SEE ANYONE ELSE. IT SEEMS ALL RIVERS THAT HAVE BEEN COMMERCIALIZED HAVE SUFFERED. TOO BAD

I HAVE FISHED THE ELK MANY TIMES FISHING ALWAYS SEEMED GOOD BUT ALL THE DRUNK AND HALF (AND SOMETIMES COMPLETELY)NAKED FOOLS OUT THERE JUST GOT TO BE OVERWHELMING. HAVEN'T BEEN BACK IN YEARS. SHAME THOUGH.

Nice hog man!! Is the hog hunting reasonable down there? And is there a good bunch of them on that ranch? Thanks for sharing man. Dave

I have seen those for years and often wondered myself.

GO TO BLUNKS FIRST. IT DOES GET CROWDED SOMETIMES BUT KERR IS WAY FURTHER UP RIVER THAN I WOULD WANT TO BE RIGHT NOW, BUT WHO KNOWS. GOOD REPORTS FROM BLUNKS AND YOU CAN WALK THE BANK UPSTREAM TO SOME GOOD SPOTS FOR QUITE A WAYS. JUST MY 2 CENTS. GOOD LUCK. DAVE

NO DOUGHT MAN. I have never once had any one tell me not to keep a legal fish while we were standing next to each other on the bank. Only where they can hide behind there keyboards and eat there TOFU. I am a member of PETA too. "PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS" I am on my way now to "TORTURE" some poor innocent fishies, someone get the oil hot.

We did very well last Saturday just south of the bridge in Galena. We were on west bank of the river seemed that was the ticket that day. Downstream from ramp after you cross over Railey Creek drive down below the old shoals motel, but there is only room for a few people there. Both spots were producing big Spoonies for several days. Good Luck. Dave

You are not kiddin I was there yesterday evening Too. Spoonies were there in full force. We caught one over 90lbs too and 5 more over 50lbs. What a hell of a good time.

Symbolic meaning of the Ladybug: Perhaps best known as an emblem of luck. When a Ladybug lands on you, it is said your wish will come true. Asian traditions hold to the belief that if caught and then released, the Ladybug will faithfully fly to your true love and whisper your name in his/her ear. Upon hearing the Ladybug’s message your true love will hurry his/her way to your side. In Ireland, the Ladybug is said to be a symbol of protection I think it could be your lucky day.

3 Killed, 2 Injured In Plane Crash
Bubbas Dad replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
This usually happens early in the summer when it first gets real hot. Pilots don't take in consideration Density Alttitude. The hotter it is outside the denser the air and it is harder for the wing to produce lift. In order for the plane to get off the ground it needs much more runway than on a cool day. It is too bad things like this happen especially after a fun trip to the river. If you fly please don't forget to take in account the outside air temp and the amount of weight you have in your plane, and adjust accordingly. God bless the lost and their families. Dave -
You can get a brand new 12 foot john boat at Bass Pro for around $500. Then Add one of there new trolling motors foot controlled for around $400 and You ought to have a decent liitle rig you can throw in the back of your truck and go. If you wanna wait till the fall you can usually find a decent boat motor and trailer for around that price though it will probally be older and leak like crazy like mine. Never know though. Good luck and good fishing. Dave

I don't know where Charlies is at or how to get there. It sounds like that would be a safe place to leave a rig for sure. I got lucky loading this time but I could see where a guy could have a problem water was pretty swift there. If I can find out where your talking about I sure wouldn't mind giving the fellow a couple bucks to not have to worry about losing my stuff. Good Fishing. Dave

I was at the ramp that is between the new bridge (not too new anymore though) and the old Y bridge at the corner of Hwy 176 and Hwy 248.

Beware Theifs At Galena Boat Ramp
Bubbas Dad replied to Bubbas Dad's topic in General Angling Discussion
I was at the ramp between the new bridge and the Y bridge. Better lock up your stuff to be safe. Dave -
We caught a lot of small white males and a few largemouth that were short nothing to brag about. But a good day of fishing anyway. I was thinking about it this am and as we were coming upstream we seen a teenage girl standing on the old Y bridge She was franticly waving her hands I thought at us but now I think it was a signal to her partners in crime we were coming back. There was 2 other trucks with empty boat trailers, and my buddies truck at the ramp. If they keep it up they surely will get caught hopefully in the act by a sherriffs deputy. I had the same thing happen at the Cape fair boat ramp once guess these guys are targeting fisherman. Oh well WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND hope it's not me that catches them I might not be too nice.

Just wanted to let everyone know to be sure and lock up all your stuff at the boat ramp in Galena. I locked the cab of my truck but not my campershell I was gone downstream fishing for several hours and when I returned someone had stolen several items from inside my camper shell. I lost my turkey decoys and a big layered archery target, and a bow sight as well as several fishing rods. It is a shame you can't go fishing these days without someone stealing stuff out of your truck while your gone. Maybe someone will mistake one of those decoys for the real thing while the theives are carrying them in the woods and pepper their asses. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE

I have an ABS plastic canoe I bought at Bass Pro. Rouge River is the brand and it is tough as nails and very stable I can stand and fish out of it in calm water. It is heavier than some of the others but is not a problem for one man and they cost around $400 new. Just puttin in my two cents. Whatever you decide have fun floating it's hard to beat a day on the creek. Dave
