bclift65706 replied to flyfishmaster's topic in Conservation Issues
in a few years their wont be mutch to calculate if its catch and keep thats the crazyest thing I have ever read. can you imagin keeping 6 in bass 3 in crappie what would you do with them. (here have some crappie nuggets I tenderised them with my hammer when I killed them) I guess the Swiss are nuts 2 -
My son ad I went back yesterday dident do any good 1 fish in 6 hours on a jig nothing on minnows. talked to 3 outher boats they dident catch any . I think we just need some consistant weather and the fish will go crazy.

If someone wants to eat trophey bass out of the rivers be my guest it dont bother me as long as it is leagel I carry a regulation book in my tackel box. It is just my prefrence not to. most of the guys I fish with take some home and eat them we always go to the river the closest saturday to may 26 and catch fish I eat crappie and catfish and always catch a walleye or 2 and 1 year 4 bigones where we fish. I try to talk them in to turning back the big bass sometimes they do sometimes they dont it is their leagel right and I dont hold it aginst them if they dont.

I cannot believe the MDC wouldent do any thing it is their job.I use to eat them but as I got a little older I figured out there is alot better fish to eat and realise any bass from the river measure take a pic and get a replica made if its a monster. I did keep a monster largemouth out of a farm pond that will look good on the wall but all smallmouth I catch stay in the river.

it seems like it takes the niangua longer to get back somewhat normal after a big rain than the rest of the rivers. I hope it goes down before laber day weekend. I spend that weekend below tunnel chasing flathead catfish and catching crappie and bass. have been every laborday for 14 years sence I was old enough to drive and will probley go even if it is flooded. just somethig I started doing by myself now some of my buddies go lastyear 9 of us and less than a 12 pack of beer drank few years ago 2 of us would drink 3 cases. funney how people and times change.we always have a good time even though lastyear it rained the entire time so if anyone is in the area stop by an visit.

their is plenty of gravel in hay fields washed in with th floods. I cannot believe the DNR or anyone else would let any one cut into an already eroding bank to mine gravel.I thought you had to stay 25 ft from the water. They want you to shoot ferrel hogs on site because of eroding the stream banks.

heard the suckers are making a good run up the fork . Big piles of them at low water crossings. I thought grabbing season was closed but is open untill may 15 on every thing but paddel fish.with the rain and high water there is no telling ware the fish may end up. The fish are now within 15 to 20 miles of ware the river starts never heard of any thing like this here with the big poulation of fish in the hundreds anyway. I did see a big stringer of the fish so the report I belive to be true.Water was dirty today so couldent see fo myself.

Boy Drown On Buffalo Sunday
bclift65706 replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
I cannot even begin to think what it would be like to lose a child. I olny take my children where I know the river and never take them after the water has been high. I do alot of floating have my owne boat and go on a pre float make sure the river is safe. It gives me time to fish because when the kids are with me I spend alot of time tying on hooks and not wondering what is around the next bend. Some people dont have that option and if people were getting hurt there already somethig should have been done to try to prevent a tragity like that. -
went to Camdenton today and did like oneshot did at truman and left my fishing gear at home. went to the Wal Mart got new stuff and headed to tunnel dam. dident see any leaks every thing looked normal except a little high water. fishing was ok brought home 2 11in crappie and 7 big goggeleye 2 big bluegill. had an estamated 5 to 6 lb largemouth break my line and a nice walleye break off to. Cought a lot of fair to good smallmouth & large mouth. All in the river below the dam. If anyone boefishes seen alot of gar & carp looking down from the top of dam. I may go back tomarrow with the boat see if the catfish have moved in yet. Bet I wont forget my gear tomarrow if I get the chance to go!!

I took my kids fishing today in an old pond that turned over about 15 years ago at my grandads farm. It is way back off the beaten path and I dont think anyone has fished in it since it turned over. We just decided to go and it is full 1/2 lb bass. the water was clear and I spotted a big fish it took 30 miniuts to get a hook in it and it was a 9 pounder and is headed to stoutland tomarow and will look great on my wall the biggest bass I have ever cought. I almost always C&R bass but I could not talk myself into throwing it back today. I seen in the neighberhood of 200 bass in this pond and going to have to eat alot of them to get this pond back on track it is way over populated.

I have cought some above rader even stoped the other day on kilburn bridge an cought 1 on the first cast. Floated today for 7 hours started out ok the water was a little stained and as the water cleared the fish turned off. did bring home 10 BIG goggle eye. cought some real nice smallmouth looke like they were about to bust with eggs. all fish mostly cought on medium to large live minnows and a few on artificial but not many. the goggel eye I brought home were from 7 to 9 in the smallmouth cought I measurd all of them were 11 to 15 in so hopefuley they will make a good comeback this year if everyone will obay the conservation regulations.

Headed To The Tailrace In The Morning
bclift65706 replied to bclift65706's topic in Truman Tailwater/Upper Osage River
I talked to one guy that was there the day before said the bite was good until the front moved through and the fish turnd of like flipping a switch. the water temp was 57deg witch seemed a little cool to me. last year I was catching crappie on the bank the third week in April on the Truman side of the dam and the lake level was about the sam as it is now. we just need some consistant weater and things would really take off I think. -
