  1. Interesting rig bassmaster - ever try a really light rooster tail behind the crankbait? And hunter - eat the drum man! - they're tasty! I'm now happy when I catch a drum.
  2. Not even if those posting are all ignorant (insert religion) and dumb (insert political party)
  3. Mercy lock please Phil!
  4. Want one bad after seeing the promo video - what's the price I wonder? Can't be more than a 2k?
  5. You can catch more crappie than you can shake a stick at at hillsdale, but only 1 in 10 is 10 inches or larger. I've picked up a couple of walleye this year along the bank in the am as well. Let us know where you do go - our family moved to olathe last month and I've only been to hillsdale so far (see posts under kansas waters)
  6. Well done! Wishing you both many happy years!
  7. Never saw this post neighbor! How are things in Calgary?
  8. Deleted
  9. Had to laugh reading this thread - hope the bass tasted good - this thread wouldn't be near this long if some people hadn't been brainwashed by Ray Scott and company.
  10. Bobby Garland swimming minnows - pick 5 colors as long as purple mist is one of em. Y'all can keep your slimy ol bass
  11. When I drift with bait, I always go barbless - you can quickly and easily unhook fish while they're in the water with minimal damage, even if the hook is in the back of their throats. I rarely lose fish without the barb as well - and a lost fish here and there is worth it
  12. Nice fish! Flicker Shad - my favorite casting and trolling crankbait
  13. Clean em just like a crappie - and cook the same we - we fried ours. There's a little red meat you can trim off, but nothing like a white bass.
  14. Drum was about 14 inches. tasty! Its good to be back for shore
  15. Living in North Carolina, let me first assure everyone that the fishing in NC doesn't even compare to SW Missouri. We'll be moving backto the KC area in a month, and I had a chance to run down to Stockton and bank fish for a few hours the 17th. Report 1st. Aldrich area from the bank - fishing stumps and laydowns using any color swimming minnow or curly tail. Around 6-10 feet of water. Reeling slow, but with this weeks weather, it'll speed up. Cleaned one femaie full of eggs, so with this next week, they'll be approaching the bank. Caught 14 keepers, no shorts. Never had a trip where every fish kept. If you're bank fishing, it's worth downloading Google earth and scouting some roads and areas from the bank. Google earth has been my best friend. Talked to a few boaters who had been catching scattered small whites, but not consistantly. Caught a bonus fish - and not a walleye or catfish. A drum. If you haven't eaten drum, DO IT! I used to think they were trash fish, but now I'd take a drum over a crappie, catfish, and white bass. Just under a walleye in quality. Saw a man fishiing with his wife across the way - he was in the front and pulled up to a large stump and had his wife anchor the boat. While she is struggling with the anchor, he is already fishing. He is right next to the stump, and she is in the back, with no way to cast to the only piece of structure in the area. He had 4 crappie (loudly exclaiming how much fun he was having), and she had zip when I left. Little tip guys - if you take your lady fishing, make sure she catches a few fish! Haven't fished Stockton in 4 years - good to be back!
  16. The code word for Fellows is "Early" Get there before sunrise, and there will be about an hour period where the fishing can be incredibly hot. Unless you have a boat though, it seems to slow down very quickly when the sun comes out. Been my experience. I've had days in the early am when every other cast would see a white bass, crappie, lm bass, and even the occasional walleye and catfish.
  17. Appreciate it!
  18. "eh...caught a few earlier" is about as enthusiastic as you should get. That having been said, I have been very thankful for folks who have shared general patterns and general locations (not secret spots) here on Ozark Anglers.
  19. Tasty brown trout too - hatchery supported waters for you knuckleheads on this forum that get an stroke if someone eats a fish.
  20. We've lived in western N.C. for about 3 years now, but we're planning a move back the Kansas City area. Looking forward to fishing the ozarks once again! Will miss these, however...
  21. Having lived in SW Missouri, I enjoyed the lakes white bass and walleye runs. Anyone fish Hillsdale when the white bass/walleye are spawning? Is the action mostly along the dam, or do the fish get in any of the tributaries? General locations (no secret spots) and rough times (april? may?) much appreciated!
  22. I've been reeling in a catfish at Fellows and it was attacked by a musky. Muskies are opportunistic, but if there is a decent baitfish population (as there is in Fellows), they will target them. Flathead catfish (which I have caught at Fellows) will eat bass, bluegill, and crappie, and anything else that happens to swim too close but we don't give them a hard time of it...
  23. Would a big sign or two make a difference, or will idiots be idiots? I have broken off smaller, less "valuable" fish than the brown in the above pic because of a tail snag.
