  1. Haven't fished it this year yet but in the numerous summer floats I have done there, I have yet to find anything that works better than strike king bitsy tubes with 1/8oz crappie jigs shoved up inside. Usually the current does all the work and all you have to do is keep your eye and some tension on the line to feel for strikes.
  2. I fished there last spring in my Kayak and only caught rock bass. Did see one real nice smallie or spot. I think if I had paddled up stream a bit more it would have been a lot better but I was losing light.
  3. I believe I have waded up to 2 units. it is doable but difficult. If I was planniing a trip I would go to bennett or something instead
  4. WOW! I have never fished Crane before, but read every post here about it and have never seen a fish like that. There can't be many fish like that in there?
  5. Did my best to patch up the paint. Never done that large of a surface. It's not anything spectaculor, but considering what is was before, I'll take it. At least it is not an eye soar once you get a few yards away.
  6. 1997 Dakota Club Cab V8 4x4 My uncle offered me his 04 Explorer at a ridiculous price I couldn't pass up so the truck has got to go. It's a 1997 Dodge Dakota V8 4x4 with 123xxx miles. It's not perfect, but overall is a decent truck. I am asking $3900. I will have the truck in Springfield for a week or two. After that it will be for sale in St. Louis. MPG driving from Springfield to St. Louis at 75mph is 17-18mpg; in Springfield it is around 14mpg. Good: V8 4x4 AC/heat both work Bed liner After market CD player w/ remote, AUX cable adapter, and IPOD adapter Towing package Clean interior Power Windows Remote Entry Sliding rear window Club Cab (2 Door) New front brake pads 22 gallon tank Cruise Control Engine runs good Bad: Crack in the Windshield Steering wheel is offset. Mechanic said something about it being in the mechanism and shouldn't be a problem. You just have to hold the wheel off center. The wheels have been aligned and are straight. Paint has come off on a few pea to stamp sized spots on the body. I have patched and clear coated those spots, and they haven't spread. A large section of paint on the hood and front left fender came off in a big storm. I haven't got around to priming, painting, and clear coating this section, but will do so before I list the truck on craigslist. It won't be a professional job, but it should stop the spreading. Rear transfer case seal has had a very slow leak since I bought the vehicle about 4 years ago. It's so slow that I have added less than a quart of transmission fluid over the years. If you have any questions or want to come see it, give me a call at 314-779-5323 or send a PM. - Sam Kelley Blue Book
  7. That's a pretty pig.
  8. Short story: It was a great day Got in the water at about 2:30, and things started out slow. Fishing between Outlet 1 and 2 throwing various combinations of midges, scuds, and san juan worms only getting two takes. Didn't land either. After about 45 minutes, some room opened up right above Outlet 2 so I jumped all over it. Tied on a brown egg up top with a pearl and copper 18 midge trailing and things went crazy from there. For the next two hours, I got a hit on nearly every throw, landed too many to count, and lost many others (I was in a bad fighting position with the current). All the fish were healthy 14-20 inchers. The gentleman across from me (by the stairs) was doing just as well with some sort of egg pattern. On a side note, this was the first time in at least 5 years for me throwing multiple flies and miraculously didn't have one mess. Special thanks to Trout Commander whose rig set-up I borrowed (http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25111&pid=163432&st=0&#entry163432). It was also the first time in a while that I fished purely with a fly rod. I might be going to the "dark side". I planned on heading down tomorrow morning before work, but the generation schedule doesn't look favorable. Might try Bennett instead.
  9. How high is the stream?
  10. I am aware of what river it is but I guess big water wasn't a good phrase. The streams I have fished (Maramec Springs, Bennett, Montauk, and Taney) only offer a total of a few miles of wadeable stream and I have been limited to that space.
  11. I guess I should change my name to Trout-PARK-Ringer cause I kill em there. Beyond Taney, I don't have much experience in big water. I guess I should mention I am partial to the tackle included packages.
  12. So my dad owes me a 21st birthday trip and said some guys from work just got back from the North Fork and loved it, and he has already found a cabin to stay at and wants to get us a guided fishing trip. Who would guys recommend? My dad is not a good fisherman and is basically going just to be with me. I have always loved trout fishing but am only just getting back into fly fishing so my skills are ok at best. I would like a guide who will do some spin fishing but also one who could teach me a thing or two about fly fishing. We were planning on going for a couple days during springbreak which is March 5-13 or mid-may to early june.
  13. This made me laugh.
  14. Now you are just showing off. ...but thanks for sharing. Awesome fish!
  15. That's cheating... ...but its still cool
  16. Save some for me.
  17. This is very true. I have learned a lot from nearby fisherman. Many of them even approached me without my asking.
  18. Can you guys go into a little detail on how you rig up with multiple flies starting with the type and length of leader. I am just getting back into fly fishing and don't know much about the proper way to rig multiple flies.
  19. That's what I was looking for. Thanks
  20. What's the deal with the brown run this year? Not too familiar with how that works.
  21. I have fished that area about three times a year for the last ten years. My best friend's family has a place there about 2 to 3 miles upstream of Big Island. We always catch fish there including when we were younger and restricted to a paddle boat. I have caught dozens of 5+ pound bass there and when bass aren't biting we always manage to catch cats or crappie.
  22. I always wear one when in my kayak. There is just too many times when you find yourself alone even when floating in a group and bailing out of kayak is a lot harder than a canoe.
  23. My experience (at least with outboards) is that NADA seemed very low.
  24. That made me laugh.
