Yeah, what were they fishing with and where? My Son and I fished this afternoon for about 4 hours and couldn't hardly buy a bite up at Greenfield Access.
-
What do you guys think of using a wobble head rig or possibly a texas rig 6" worm when my son and I go up there this weekend. I also thought about a ned rig up there; but not sure how that would work out. Any suggestions?
-
I sure hope to catch some of those eyes this weekend.
-
Thank you for the advice Sac River Jim, really appreciate that. May also try Greenfield access, just haven't decided yet. Really anxious to get out there though.

I've not been to fish Stockton except for once for a couple hours in the 8 years I've lived in this area. Is the CC boat launch area any good? Is it a good starting place for some good walleye and bass maybe?
-
I was afraid it wouldn't take long for you to get scolded on here. I knew it wouldn't even take 12 hours after the post to happen. You're much nicer than I am though. You don't owe anybody an explanation or an apology for a lawful activity! At least he didn't get hateful with you though, imagine that post will be coming from somebody on here in the next 24 hours. Again, great stringer!
-
That is an awesome stringer of bass and sounds like you had a great day. My son has been wanting me to take him to Stockton as we always fish Pomme De Terre or Table Rock and have never fished Stockton. What general area did you fish in and what technique did you use? Those look like good eating! Hope you don't get some of the the usual scolding and hateful comments that you get many times on this site for posting pics of bass you kept. Great job though; any tips would be helpful :-)

You can google gamma copolymer and find several online stores that sell it. You can also go to blackknightindustries.com and buy it directly from them, as they are the makers of it. You can also go to Fin N' Feather and buy it. They keep it in stock regularly and have for years. Gamma Copolymer is still made.
-
Nice fish. Should make good eating and a some nice large filets. Great job.
-
If Gamma has been discontinued, it's news to me. That's all I've used the last 5 years or more, I've always bought it from Fin N' Feather and just dropped in there today to restock on my Gamma. It's also available online too as RNG stated.

Hope you did well if you went. The entire area down there isn't worth going to in my opinion unless you have a boat. At the least you need waders. Hope it was worth your time, it sure wasn't worth mine and my son's time the few times that we've went.

Where exactly is Taylor Shoals located from the Blunks ramp/parking area. Is it toward Galena or toward McCord Bend? Sorry, I'm just not that familiar with James River since I'm not from around here originally. Is there a better launch ramp and parking area other than Blunks to get close to those areas?
-
Anybody getting or hear of anyone getting a grub bite yet? Or is the water still too cool?
-
Does anyone that knows more about white bass than me; which is probably everybody on here; think the bite will still be pretty good in a week and a half from now? Or that the dawn, dusk or daytime bite will be on then. Can't fish at night due to work schedule. Anyway, I can't get my boat up and running until then and my son and I walked and walked and fished til our arms were tired from the bank with no success this past Monday evening. Meanwhile we watched everybody in boats catching them along the opposite bank. We didn't even get a bit right below the riffles. I also really don't care much for the ramp, road and parking situation at Blunks; any other suggestions of where a better ramp to launch and still get up there in within a reasonable distance. Any white bass tips period would be great. Thanks in advance guys.

I have to agree about lowering the length limit on spots. Every time my son and I have been on Table Rock this year the majority of what we have caught this year have been sub legal spots. Lots of nice fish in the 13" to 14.5" range but very few keeper spots. In contrast the majority of what largemouths we have caught have been greater than 15". But have had to fight through the spots to catch them. Not much luck with smallmouths for us this year, but anyway. The length limit on spots down in the Ark portion of Table Rock is 12", all spots on Bull Shoals Missouri side are 12". Just seems like many of the other lakes and states around the country don't regulate them so heavily. They are very fun for catch and release yes, no good for tournament keepers or to catch any for the freezer because of the current length limit. To me they seem to be taking over. I like catching them, but would rather catch nice largemouth and smallmouth. Just my insignificant opinion.

What type of trailer; if any; were you using on the jig?
-
What kind of person questions the keeping of bass. You are not in charge of anyone but yourself and you don't have to like what anyone else does. He is perfectly in the legal limits of the law and it is within his rights. Bass are very tasty and anyone who says they're not must not like eating fish of any kind or they have set up a mental block telling themselves Bass is BAD YUCK! This myth that all bass fishing done has to be catch and release or you're not an ethical fisherman is rubbish; and I'm sick of hearing about it. Catch and release is fine; but not for me. I don't practice it on anything unless it's under the legal length limit or over the daily limit. If you ask me I also think the limits are too restrictive; that's just my opinion. The great thing about this country though that we need to remember on Memorial Day is that we all have a right to speak our opinion and minds and share it with other people. We're all fisherman on here; lets just get along instead of trying to spread the tyranny of the "Ethical Bass Fisherman" and lets all just be fishermen and mind our own business!

This is for Mr."healing waters"; I really didn't appreciate that made up smarty pants comment what so ever. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this forum; but you do not need to be trying to make others look foolish; or making somebody sound like dumb hick that doesn't know his but from a hole in the ground. I am extensively educated and certainly wasn't looking for a fight of words on here. I simply offered my opinion; you don't have to like mine. On a further note, there are more important issues than somebody taking under length limit fish or a few to many to eat. What about the idiot cooking meth in the public forest behind the banks where you are fishing. Conservation laws are too restrictive and people have taken it way too far with trying to play woods and water superheroes. If you are obeying the laws and no one is endangering you or your family and they are on public land; then don't worry about what others are doing and mind your own business. That is the job of the water patrol and conservation department. I'm sorry, I just wasn't brought up in a catch and release or conservation minded family. I do; however; believe in obeying the fish and game laws despite being in disagreement with many of them.
-
I do not appreciate the remark trying to make me look like a fool; you can plainly read the sentence that I wrote and I simply didn't say; "sounds like you don't want nobody to keep no fish"; as I know you're referring to me.
-
Each to his own opinion.

Sounds to me like you're one of those that if you could, you would make all fishing catch and release. No, we're not starving, but I happen to enjoy eating all of the varities of species in our lakes and waterways around here. I'm one that thinks that we already have too many restrictions on fishing and keeping what you can catch as it is. I do respect your opinion however because everybody is entitled to their own. I think not saying anything at all would be a better choice. You really wouldn't like me; because if it's legal; I keep it no matter what. I have a wife and three boys and we all love to eat fish and can't afford to pay store price for catfish and trout fillets; and I just can't go the cheap ocean fish and tilapea.
