  1. Fishbait3, What time of year was that ?? spring / summer / fall / winter ??
  2. Willow Leaf, I'm not sure who said this but, "Smallmouth wake up mad and get meaner as the day goes on"....... The first few smallmouth that I caught , It felt as if they were hitting my lure with a baseball bat;.. Definitely got my attention !!!!!!
  3. csfishfool, It is starting to sound like fall would be the time for me (zarraspook) to fish for the smallmouth at stockton !!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the input ... With all the good information I have got, I might give up on the Largemaonth and start fishing Smallmouth YEAR AROUND.........
  4. Dutch, I just moved the "green pumpkin tube" to the top off my shopping list..... Thanks....
  5. Hyde, I have caught a lot of bass on the wiggle wart... A few smallmouth at Table Rock but, none on Stockton... A ton of Largemouth and some Kentuckys on both lakes... But, while I am searching, I will make sure to have one tied on..... Thanks
  6. Walcrabass, I have been looking a pictures of crawdads, on the internet, and had noticed that almost all have "some" gold/copper/orange on them... Some have just a few specks here and there, while others have big splashes of color.... I HAD a question about Stockton smallies prefering crawdad or shad ... I am convenced that crawdad is the way to go... Except at night and then a short arm spinner bait..... It is probely too much to hope for a topwater or jerk bait bite, this early in the year but, I always have one or the other tied on a second rod, year around... Thanks for the input and I will post any results ....
  7. Binman, That would be "above and beyond" any thing I would expect !!!! I would not want to move in on somone's private spots... But, If I can't find some fish before the boy gets here - I will give you a shout ..... THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. THANKS... I would never have tought of Trig with sinker inside !!!!! GREAT
  9. Dutch, Thanks for the tackle tip... Do you rig them just on a jig-head or carolina or ?? I assume you are imitating a crawdad ?? That was one of my main questions. Crawdad or minnow imitaters ???
  10. Straw Hat, I was hoping you would "check in" !!!! If I can get him a dozen or so smallies, with a couple in the 3-4lb range, I'm sure he would be thrilled.. He is working the Bass Masters Classic ,on the Red river, right now and will be free after that for about 5-6 weeks... I sure in March that I won't have a problem finding a "windy" point or two... I wouldn't have thought of going 20-25 foot deep.... Thanks
  11. I need some thoughts / advice for SMALLMOUTH fishing on Stockton.. My son, who lives in Louisiana, read an article about Stockton having 3 of the last 4 state records for smallmouth and wants to come up this spring and give it a try... I have fished Stockton for 20+ years but for Largemouth ( for fun ) and Crappie ( for the annual Willard Senior Citizen’s fish fry ).. The only thing I know about the Smallmouth fishing is “stay between the islands and the dam” and I am guessing mid to late march for a time frame?? He will only have three days to be on the water and has to be before mid April.... I will get on the water once it gets closer to 50 degrees but, any ideas to lessen my search area would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Zarra
  12. I was up that way last Monday (24th) and they had one lane open..... They may had to re-close it to fix something they had fixed(?)....
  13. FYI .. I had to go to Sam's yesterday and Academy Sports has a banner across the front of the store that says " OPENING 16th SEPT."......

  15. Straw - THANKS for converting the "report" to ENGLISH at the end !!!!!!!!!
  16. Great information... I moved here in 1986 and on my first trip to Stockton my son and I seen what we thought might been an ALLIGATOR in the back of Maze creek... Later we were told it was probable the LAST "Tiger Muskie" left in the lake... I have not seen one since .... Thanks for the "where we come from" account of Stockton.......
  17. 5-10 years ago ... hope they help...
  18. Where can I find some "RUBBER" worms????? I thought they quit making those in the late 50's........

  20. Most boats have 2 live wells and that is separate ... I only use one live well and I have 15 brass "safety pin" and who ever catches the second fish uses the pins for their fish... I "think" it is like a lot of laws/rules ... They are not going to stop you only to check for separated fish but, it is one of the "add on charges" to prove(?) that you are "chronic" violator.....
  21. They post there reading about 0900hrs, from the morning readings..... You are correct that they are NOT current readings but a daily snapshot...
  22. The Lake Level report I check is the National Weather Service for Springfield.... http://www.crh.noaa....on=1&glossary=0 The current list is::: BULL SHOALS LAKE. 663.03 FEET AND 5.09 BEAVER DAM. 1125.93 FEET AND 5.58 NORFORK LAKE. 561.68 FEET AND 5.26 TABLE ROCK DAM. 922.00 FEET AND 4.77 LAKE TANEYCOMO. 706.50 FEET AND 1.90 TANEYCOMO TAIL. 667.50 FEET AND 7.70 STOCKTON. 870.18 FEET AND 0.37 POMME DE TERRE DAM . 850.30 FEET AND 0.02 TRUMAN DAM . 709.02 FEET AND 0.11 LAKE OF THE OZARKS. 655.68 FEET AND -0.46 GRAND LAKE. 744.35 FEET AND 1.61 I not sure which lake you are looking for but, the NWS should have it under one of it's sites....
  23. The fish are eating MINNOWS !!!!!!!! If I was fishing from the bank, I would be throwing a minnow looking "bettle-spin" type of lure.... throwing at a 45 degree angle as I walked the bank, letting it sink for a count of 5-6 (5-6 feet) and work it back slow........
  24. The only thing I could suggest is 4-8 foot of water and all my keeper today were in 64 degree plus water......
  25. Finally got to the lake about 2pm fished till 6pm caught 10 crappie, 6 went 11-12 inches.. also 76,987,345,987,900 bass 12-13 inches... They all came in 4-8 foot of water and on a 1/16 oz stump jumper , two tone green body with orange head... P.S. I caught so many little bass , I had to estimate the total count !!!!!
