  1. Jessary, That sounds like a good trip in the cold. I am little surprised on the crawdads but I guess the never stop feeding on the delicacies. How long did you let the bait set before twitching it and how shallow were you?
  2. Denjac I totally agree with you. I like that the idea of the organizers because they keep it below deck but easily accessable. I am bad about throwing a bag of plastic in the locker and then get impatient when I am having to dig to find that bag later.
  3. Thanks Dutch, I looked at the Cooks system online and it looks great for spinners and maybe jigs. I also found easyviewtackle.com but dont know anything it.
  4. Yea you probably would not have to look very hard in Aunts Creek to find a jig with Techo fingerprints on it.
  5. Occasionally I have noticed some fisherman with tackle stored in the underside of the locker lid in there boat. That looks like a good a pretty good way to keep things organized and have easy access. I dont get enough time on the water and I sure hate wasting time trying to dig out a bait. Does anyone use such a system and have any opinions about it?
  6. I just marked my calendar
  7. Gary, I was putting in a Aunt's around 12:30 on Saturday and there was group taking out that had yellow covers on their props. Was that your group?
  8. You guys had better luck than I did. I launched at Aunt Creek on Saturday and fished from 12:30 -5:00 in the rain. I did not get a bite. I was determined to learn how to fish the jerkbait and came up with the big zero. I was fished bluffs, points, 20' of water to 70' of water and the results were the same. I cant figure out the jerkbait. When you fish in the rain all afternoon are you entitled to at least 1 fish . I threw the jig (no surprise) for the last 30 minutes.
  9. Don, Thanks for the images. I enjoy seeing them and learning about the underwater world. I am saving my money now for one of those. I think the SI sonars will become the standard in electronics in the years to come. (At least I hope so, so the price will come down)
  10. Those pictures are cool. What is the gate looking thing on the picture that is in 38' of water. Is picture in 91.6' of water, the downscan? Those things look great once you learn how read the information that you are viewing.
  11. I think Don House is very familar with Ardent reels. I am sure if you p.m. him he will give you some personal info on the reel.
  12. Bill, What is a hot shot tranducer?
  13. Doug, I am curious to find out what Bill has to say but I would guess he has specific locations marked for that type of fishing. Without having having those locations it is a big lake and takes a lot of time to find them. I guess that comes with the territory when you are on the lake as many hours as Bill. A pattern would be helpful in eliminating areas of water.
  14. I dont throw a Chronarch but I think the Symettre is a very good spinning reel. The Symettre throws smoothly and I never have had a problem with them.
  15. I kept the boat in about 30-20 feet of water
  16. On Saturday I fished from about 7 till noon and only caught 4 fish. One 17" K and three shorts all caught on the jig. I could not catch anything on topwater. I had some wind which normally helps but I had to be handcuffed to the jig to get a bite. Seems like a cool front blew through about mid a.m. but did not stay long enough to affect the lack of success. I look forward to trying again. I had several take the jig but they wouldn't take the free ride to the boat.
  17. CMAC, How does Zebra Mussels relate to breakoffs?
  18. That is some kind of bad luck. I throw the Calais and the Citica and have never had any problems with them. Especially nothing like that. I am curious to find out what Shimano tells you.
  19. Techo, Thanks for the info on the jig technique. I started out doing the vertical lift with the jig and changed over to the slow reel (feeling everything on the bottom). I would occasioally pull the rod horizonal by turning in my seat, but no luck. I may have not had the right location or the bass may been tight lipped that day. I will probably try to slip out again early on Saturday and play some more mind games.
  20. Bill, Thanks for the info. I'll keep working at it. Half of the fun is playing the chess game with animal that has no legs and a little brain. I guess that is what home field advantage does for the fish.
  21. Post a picture for a man and he will post a few. Teach a man to post his own pictures and he post enough for a lifetime. There is Proverb in there somewhere that has a simialar twist.
  22. I went out of Cape Fair on 0912 first thing in the a.m. Caught 8 shorts largemouth/kentuckies combinations on topwater. I never totally abandoned the topwater bait because it keep producing. No surprises, the best time was the first part of the a.m. After that seems like when the wind stopped so did the catching (there was not much wind). I could not get a hook up on the jig, spinnerbait or crank. I thought I knew a few (must have been very few) thing about fishing the jig but I was humbled on Saturday. Bill/Techno you must have the touch on that jig. The whites did come up at the mouth of a cove that I was fishing in but they only came up for about 5-15 seconds and then would come back up a few minutes later. You had to be ready and in the right spot when the window of opportunity opened. I was a lot of fun messing with them.
  23. I might be in the market for another trolling motor if I cant get mine fixed. What are your thoughts--MotorGuide vs Minn Kota. I would like to hear about dependablility, features and model #'s.
  24. Thanks Zander. Seems like an odd name for a lake.
