I caught this girl yesterday and have some weight issue?’s. She measured 26.25" long and 19" girth. That equals 10.91 lbs according to the bassmaster calculator. I have caught 2 fish over 8lb smaller than her before. But I can't believe she is almost 11 lbs. Has anyone that has caught a fish recently close to those measurements or weight tell me what weight they think she is actually closer to.

Well started early at dawn with topwater in mind with the calm wind last Sat. morning. Caught 3 on a Sammy, and 2 on a Pop-R in 55 deg water. The water is slightly stained. Morning bight slowed and off I went to fish the bluff. I really am starting to love drop-shot fishing. It just produces. Caught 3 more and venture my way toward the boathouse. Got some jerk bait fish to bight and I was happy with them. Only 1 spinnerbait fish. With the wind picked up I really thought it would have been better. I need the temp to drop a little more for my liking. On way back picked up a chunky jig fish. And I was off the water by noon.

Springfield Lake Report

Last Sat I had a similar patern. Find unmuddy water and used a fluke. Produced 3 over 3lbs and 1 over 4lb. in about 4-6' of water. -
Any suggestions on fishing the Rock this Sun with the post front and rising water?

The Shimano Saros for the money is about the hardest to beat. For $130 to have a real that is as smooth and durable that works and keeps on working even when not taken care of. This is the best spinning real I have ever owned over $100 bucks.

Wayne where/How do you replace or use the wire instead of the fiber in the mold when you pour?

Ok from where you are going to fish, I fish those waters a lot. I bought a 14' jon boat with the 36" bottom brand new at bass pro spring of 08'. I purchased a 65# foot control trolling motor. 2 group 27 deep cycle batteries, a $200 fish finder/gps, and Trailer. I then decked the front and carpeted it and mounted by pedelstal seat up front with a seet mounted on the reer bench. I wiegh around 250# and my trolling motor with batteries and front deck add another 170# roughly. But with the trolling motor on speed 5 I go about 5.1 to 5.3 MPH by my GPS I can can fish Springfield lake on just my trolling motor on speed 3 avg for over 8 hrs of power fishing. Then I have a 10hp Suzuki that will psh me around where ever I go. With all this in mind I spent around $2300 The suziki was already paid for. Well from fishing Springfield lake you wont have to many problems with your boat untill you use your out board and you WILL get leaks. You go down the river you will accelerate this. 6 mnths in 17 leaks. I had every rivet welded by BPS. I REALLY RECOMEND go with all welded, it is worth it if you ever want it to last longer than a yr. I would really consider at least 48" wide bottom toofor the stability. I am more than welcome to take you out in mine to show you how it fishes, so you see what you really want. Just PM me for more questions

The lower part from Galena to Hooten Town will be the easier part of the Trek. Then from there you will have an adventure all the way up to between Shelvin Rock and Delaware Town. From there to below 160 is too bad again. But then you have to make it to the darn and I really would pay attention to the water level as this part can be challenging in any water above normal. Good luck and looking forward to see how you do. I highly recommend in investing in a kayak paddle.

Fishing Reports
TRSmallie replied to LEBHUNTFISH's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
yeah I think I can help you a bit. The lake temp. Varies greatly from the Boat House to the Dam around 54 to 69. The bass on the North bank by the bluff have all spawned out, You will find lots of fish there ready for any soft plastic of your choice. If youhave a boat/canoe I would be throwing a spinner bait to the bank any where else with the rain coming in and the water rising. You should find numbers with quality that way. If you find slightly stained water to clear above 55 deg throw a Buzz bait or spook for a chance to catch a huge bass. Good Luck -
There is great fishing on this lake. I fish it a lot!!! You can't ever go wrong with a 1/2 oz wht spinnerbait as long as the water temp is above 54 deg. and got some wind. most of the lake is less than 7ft deep except the channel where only a few places is 15 to 20 ft deep. The topwater fishing on Spfl Lk. is outstanding(buzz bait, spook, or my new favorite Wake bait) The fish are pretty friendly to a rattle trap bait as well. When the wind dies look no further than a 1/4 to 5/16 oz jig or your favorite soft plastic to get you bit on any bank with chunck rock. As you familiarize yourself with the lake you will learn these banks quite well. Wind out of the north fish the railroad tracks. wind out of the south fish the bank from the bluff to the park. Here are some pics of fish from that lake.

I am big grub fisherman and like you I prefer a shorter shank. My absolute favorite hook is the Matzu Sickle hook for my grubs. It is Extremly sharp and has a wide Gap and it is hard for bass to throw it. And it is much cheaper than Gammies, Mustad, or VMC. I have used them all. For grub fishing they have been the best for me. Here is a pick of them. On the mold I use bolth round and A modified Poison Jig mold(My Favorite) I get all my stuff from Fin and Feather in Sprfld. Or order from Barlows on-line. Any more questions just PM and I would be glad to help!

Went last Sat. started around 6:45 and headed up. Fished pretty fast to get to the small mouth and on the way just after the point by the end of the park on the bluff side we got in to the bass and huge crappie, (pics coming soon) on a SB bite. Thought was a fluke and we caught around 8 real good bass from 12" dinks to solid 3 lb'rs. finally made it just past riverside inn and nailed a 17" smallie on one of my 3/16 jigs. Good start could not believe all the laydowns from this year of high water. I am so glad we had all this rain this year."great for the fish, all looked healthy and fat" I can't remember how nice the Finley looked like this since I was a little kid? Any way lost track of num of LM, some KY and few but nice SM and tons of gogle eyes. It was a good 5 hrs of fishn. Can't wait to fish Copelind to Linden next weekend. Glad got to go fish before this Sun. Man that river came up fast. Recap of baits early SB, then worm and jig with CB mixed in was the ticket for this trip. Good luck and Good fishing!

I am planning a trip downt to Gastons to drift and throw rogues and pointers and mabey some Sebile Swim Baits. What size, brand of flourocarbon would be good with my baitcaster for those Browns? I might also if I have no luck to try sculpins and or Crawfish. Any info on rigs that would help out allot. Thanks for any help!

Does any one know where Mallard bay is at on the lake?

Wondering if there is a better line for spinning reel in 4# in gin clear water. For castability, durability, and strength?
