  1. When will we get something like this for bigger vehicles like trucks that can haul boats? Right now you can get 21 out of a 4 Runner or 19 out of a half ton truck that is substantially safer. I would like something bigger, safe, 4X4 and get 28 to the gallon. I don't really by the conspiracy that there is some magical motor that gets good mileage, but they are just holding in back. Are you kidding me, if GM or Ford had something like this you can bet your rear end they would have it to market.
  2. Why doesn't someone contact the local media (newspaper or KY3) and tell them this dirty little secret? Maybe some light on the subject would run some of these freaks off due to the attention or focus on the problem and they can ask the local law what they intend on doing about it. I would love to hear the nightly news with a report of: Imagine you and your family taking in some local secenary...you see some fruits with fruit on the dash...and next thing you know you walk up on... I am laughing now. But if my kids saw that crap I would hold their asses at camera point and call 911. Honestly the news media thing might be a viable option. Little media sting showing these actions.
  3. Family values mean nothing these days. Can't watch TV with your kids after 5 oclock. These acts are normal these days and any attention to them is profiling. Welcome to the land of the fruits, nuts and politically correct freaks.
  4. Don't worry Al. By the time we bancrupt the coal industry and tax the hell out of the oil companies we will all be back on horse and donkey and gas price won't even matter.

    Thanksgiving

RPS, After reading your menu (mouth watering on keyboard) I have decided to skip our family dinner and join your's All kidding aside. We will have brown sugar and kosher salt brined turkey, hand mashed potatoes, pan gravey, wild rice casserole, green bean casserole, sage stuffing, pea salad, deviled eggs, wheat rolls, pumpkin, pecan and cherry pies. Only 24 of us this year.
  6. What depths are these jigs fished? What specific brands, sizes and colors should be used? Are they slowed retrieved to boat or just drifted perpindicular to the boat?

  8. I'll have to try the jelly idear. I made some chili saturday (it peaks at days 2-3 after all that cookin) and sweetened mine with brown sugar. Last I checked we don't even border Texas and Hillbillies survived on beans so I stay true to my culture. Besides it gives me an opportunity to sing the kids that famous song "Beans, Beans..."
  9. Tim: What fly were you stripping today before you left the hatchery area this afternoon? You were having success with it. I had a lot of fish flare off of my flies today. I assume they were seeing my 5X florocarbon tippet. I was really surprised with two weeks off and only two days of being fished that they were that sensitive to my line. I wanted to grab some 7X and see if there would be a difference, but everything in the area was closed. I only caught fish on a Griffiths Knat. Oh well it was absoutley beautiful there today and very few bodies. Monday is a great day to enjoy the C & R seaon if don't like to be with lots of folks. BRBF
  10. Worth every single penny. These guys played from 8:15 to 11:15 with a 20 min intermission. Played a majority of their hits. If they were playing St. Louis or Kansas City this weekend I would make it happen again. I have seen Eric Clapton 4 times and this show was smokin hot. The new arena was very nice and still very green you could smell curing concrete and there was a haze in the air and I wiped my hand on the floor and it was like it wasn't swept and the rodies were trying to keep this dust off the stage. I guess it leaves open the question: Is this the best rock and roll band ever????
  11. Thanks for your votes and your positive input.
  12. Probably depends if he has been making some of those famous beans of his
  13. Lets see how the forum will vote on this issue.

  15. Kevin: Watch the prices at the Landing the rent is built into the pricing as well as 10% sales tax. Sometimes the food is pretty expensive. My wife and I like to pack a lunch and eat out on the water. You can always get snacks at the gas docks.
  16. You are both so cool. Thanks for returning me to 3rd Grade .
  17. Exactly what I was trying to say but didn't.
  18. I will always question government programs and decisions. I have not personally attacked anyone on any forum period since my mother (who was mentioned here) did not raise me that way. Just because philosophically you don't agree with someone gives you no right to do so. I think that one issue is this theory that people went out and bought land just to get around paying for tags. Why would they go buy a couple thousand dollars worth of land to get a $17 tag? Prying away a landowners right to harvest wildlife on his own land is just a crummy deal all the way around.
  19. No Kevin. The fishermen are not the problem, unless they don't know how to handle and revive fish. Too many other factors responsible for this.
  20. Hey Don: I'm going also and like you shelled out $820 for 4 tickets. Yet to see where they are located in the Arena because I pick them up at will call after 6 p.m. tomorrow. Since we both hit Bonnamassa and now the Eagles what should we go see next? I am down to about 20 cds and I will have my entire cd collection on my ipod. So far 9 days of of non stop play for a total of 11 gig. I don't know how much time I have spent on this, but after many a cd lost of the years I wish I had done it earlier. Now I need a big external drive to back everything up. Anyway done rambling maybe will see ya there. My uncle's partner is their tour manager and he paid the same and said the show is worth every penny. We'll see.
  21. It's BigRedBirdFan or BRBF. Not bigbird and I know what your intentions are. I've got to hand to you to you and Tadman. Your personal attacks and not substance have won me over. I think this is the best darn proposal since reintroduction of the river otters. http://www.takebackthemdc.com/start.html
  22. Buying Guns, Ammo and hiding their wealth. I love America. God Bless the NRA.
  23. You can alway count on Chief who has never seen a government program or decision he didn't like. Now I can add Tadman. You guys win. I am sure you are in the majority on this. Landowners should have it stuck to them just like the rich.
  24. Brian Andrews seemed happy didn't he siusaluki? He aint the only one.
  25. Landowners upset about proposed hunting permit change The Associated Press • November 2, 2008 Kansas City -- Some of the more than 75,000 Missourians who own small parcels of state land are upset with a proposal by the state to begin charging them for hunting permits that previously had been free. It's a change from a practice that has been in place since the mid-1980s, allowing residents who owned 5 acres of land or more to have free firearms and archery deer and turkey tags. But the Missouri Department of Conservation has proposed sweeping changes in its fee structure for hunting and fishing licenses, including raising the minimum requirement for the free permits from 5 to 80 acres. The change would affect more than 75,000 landowners and their families. One of those landowners is Brain Andrews, who has about 30 acres in the Ozarks and has received free permits for eight years. "If this goes through, I might not ever hunt deer in Missouri again," said Andrews, 33, a network consultant from Cook Station. "I might even move to another state. "It's not so much the cost that I'm upset about. It's that we're getting one of our freedoms taken away," he said. "Small landowners like us are the ones who take care of the wildlife. We provide the habitat and the food, and we manage the land." The decision isn't final. There will be a 30-day comment period during which landowners can contact the conservation department and elected state officials. Members of the Missouri Conservation Commission will review the responses. If the measure passes that review, it would take effect sometime next year. Although the Department of Conservation has a $160 million budget -- one of the largest conservation agency budgets in the Midwest -- it's beginning to feel the pinch from the current economic downturn, officials said. Maintaining game and fish programs costs more and it is difficult to find ways to increase revenue, they said. "We're not saying that these smaller landowners don't matter," said Eric Kurzejeski, chief of outreach programs for the department. "Some have written or e-mailed and said they feel like we're slapping them in the face. That's not the message we want to convey. "We value what they contribute. It's just that we felt it was time for some changes." Changing the minimum required acreage from five to 80 acres would return to the original intent of the law, he said. "When we set this up in the 1940s, the purpose was to reward those who were involved in agriculture for their contributions," he said. "We felt that we were getting away from that original intent." But the increased revenue was also important. The conservation department gets federal funding only for those who pay for hunting and fishing licenses. In 2007, for example, the state received $17 for each person who bought a hunting permit. Antlerless Resident Permit- $10 Spring Turkey Resident Permit-$20 Fall Turkey Residnt Permit-$15 Grand Total for Landowner (under 80 acres)=$45 Number of Landowners Getting Srewed 75,000 X $45 = $3,375,000 Even more than previously discussed. Follow the money people. So what will happen 1) Some will bow down and pay the increase 2) Not everyone will buy a tag and blow the hell out of em anyway. 3) Less wildlife harvested. The BS line is the trend is more people are buying small plots of land. Has anyone priced 80 + acres latley? Not too cheap. They are in it for the money.
