  1. I love how trout are lessor species because they are stocked. Makes me laugh every time I hear it. Crappie, blue gill and walleye are crap too. The only real fish are bass.
  2. It's not a NASCAR sanctioned track nor has it secured any NASCAR sprint cup, nationwide or Craftsmen Truck races. It is unlikely that it will get any of those races. It has been approved by Taney County Planning and Zoning and is expected to be built.
  3. Went with a group of guys riding four wheelers east of Bradleyville last sunday. I must say this is a great area and very few people were using it. Probably the heat has a lot to do with it. Does anyone else ride down there that might have suggestions on which trails to try, points of interest to see and any links to maps?
  4. Place the traps as far from your garden as possible to avoid baiting them in to close. If possible give a few to your neighbors to draw them over to their place and still acieive the purpose of trapping them. Wind direction will determine which traps fill more quickly.
  5. It's a shame that people are bascially trespassing to get to that water up there.
  6. If the city buys up property as a result of the flooding I hope that they can provide more access to people mainly in the lookout area. It is almost impossible for people that don't own boats to fish in through that area.
  7. I was suppose to fly fish for tarpon in MX next week. I'm not sure what size tarpon you will target, but they recommend 8-9wt for baby tarpon and 11-12 wt for tarpon.
  8. Good Luck. 4 paddlefish and 0 gar. The judge will be impressed with your ability to snag gar which is what you intended to catch. But you "did" snag 4 paddlefish so other than your "words and thoughts" your intentions otherwise are unknown. So the agent is left to assume after snaggin 1 you "intended" to snag 2, 3 and 4 and then document your catch. You will have a diffcult time proving your intentions with not landing a single gar.
  9. PM Fishinwrench. He will know what the problem is.
  10. The problem is that since 2008 gas has doubled in price and every good or service requiring trucking has risen significantly as well and we are now talking about a serious percentage of people's income. Also energy prices to heat and cool your home have also risen signficatly. So now people are barely getting by if getting by at all. All of this hurts the middle class to some degree and the lower class gets hammered. But alas, no urgency to do a darn thing about any of it. As a matter of fact some politicians feel that gas should be $10 a gallon. I bet at that level you will only see champagne and cavier floaters on the river because they haven't been affected by higher prices like the rest of us.
  11. How do the unemployed pay $3.80 a gallon to get to the outfitter? When they have already taken a bite on every other cost of goods including food and household energy.
  12. It's not apples to apples. I'll take White River under normal and low water flows and Taneycomo on normal and high water. I do not prefer Taneycomo when the water is low and a couple hunderd people are stacked up like salmon spawing in a very few places. Additinally, the White is good for moving water all up and down. Taney is white river like a relatively short ways below the dam and then turns into "LAKE TANEYCOMO" after short creek.
  13. Its really awesome that they don't even care to give them a litter bag to go along with a ticket which tells me it's not about the litter.
  14. What are water temps?
  15. Congrats Lunker Lane!!! Fishinwrench will be able to help you isolate what's causing that. When are you taking me smallmouth fishing?
  16. That is someone's son and I hope when the name is released that the parents aren't forum members. I've seen friends under the influence of some drugs that turned them into people that they normally were not. While it might be easy to assume he was a low life bum he may have taken a drug one time and this was the reaction. Very sad.
  17. Is anyone aware of plans for building a boat storage rack for a backyard that would hold 4 boats? Two flatbottom jons and two canoes.
  18. Has there ever been a suggestion of sub dividing this into Fly Fishing and Non-Fly Fishing?
  19. Floated from Ponca to Kyles Landing and Erbie to Pruitt. The water level and clarity were ideal. We fished chompers and grubs on the bottom green in color and did good. We were asked if we were catching fish by a lot of people who said others were struggling to catch any fish. We finished with several dozen fish between the two days. Two largest fish were 12 inches. Most of our fish were caught in current or directly behind current. I caught one by a bluff. We tried brown platic worms just to see and picked up one. We did so well with these two baits we did not try spinners or flukes so I don't know if they would have worked too. Hope someone can use this information as others have helped me before. BRBF
  20. Anything smaller than a V-8 wouldn't even keep speed with my alum tracker boat on the hills of 65 south to taney or branson.
  21. Thanks Al, what size on the spinner? I'm assuming green in color?
